There may be some truth to that, but I don't think it's the whole picture. There are features they may have wanted to put into the game and didn't have the time, features that actually were in the game but had to be taken out at the last minute because of bugs, features they really didn't know would be missed as much, and yes, some blatant marketing exaggeration.

Regardless of the reasons, I very much appreciate we'll get a few features which have been requested, some of which I really missed since the game was published, in addition to a few other cool things I personally never expected. My most important concern apparently won't be addressed (the Skyhold outfit), but you can't always have everything and the CheatEngine script will be adapted to the new version, hopefully.

I get the marketing.  I get that they sling a lot to get us to buy it.  I'm also old and can remember the phrase "Quality speaks for itself".  I despair that that's a phrase too seldom heard nowadays.

Please don't misunderstand me - I too am cooled out by the additions and any real fixes included.  All handy and a few necessary (extra storage is always appreciated) - excellent.  That mirror - also good.  It worked very well in DA2.

Real fixes, IMO, are more important than cosmetic improvements, nice as they can be.  I'll be excited after.

I wonder will the party storage be like Wardens Keep, and it automatically upgrades stuff?  Or like DA2 where it just holds the stuff

Was that a bug or a feature? I don't remember.

If it does buff it up... let's keep quiet about this one, hmm?

The armor tint feature will rectify one of the most asinine issues with the game: tying stats to appearance was a boneheaded decision for a game released in 2014. Thank the Maker they've gone in to correct this.

Were you horrified by the orange dragonbone too? :P

In principle, I agree with this. It's just that people rarely agree about which feature is broken and needs a fix, rather than simply being not quite up to standard or just not fitting people's expectations. In addition, there are things that simply can't be fixed with a patch.

Think of ME3's ending. I certainly think it was broken and needed a fix, but a lot of people thought otherwise. In DAI, I think the tactical camera is broken and needs a fix, but it's also a non-critical feature - you don't need it unless you play on Nightmare - so it's really not that important. I take it a lot of people think otherwise.

@Lebanese Dude:

I was horrified by the orange dragon webbing. *Shudder* Dragonbone is fine though, it has a nice semi-coppery tint. I really like it.

Who actually ever said the game was in an "ideal state"?

Perhaps "ideal" is too strong a word, apologies.  Many contend the game is fine and deserving of the myriad gaming awards.  Then there are those who have to yet to play the game - either at all or all the way through - because of extensive bugs and crashes.  These folks are less sure, even after patches and hotfixes for those patches.

It's an issue.  Some get frustrated, myself included.  I hold out hope, just not the enthusiasm.  I'm keeping that in reserve.

Certainly. Well said.

My chief problem with DA:I is that I can't harvest/mine/tag logging and quarry sites.  I can collect tons of everything, but the game refuses to acknowledge that I have.  I can't finish a single requisition, upgrade Skyhold or spec out my Inquisitor.  This means I cannot actually play the game - unless I use the CE or a trainer, which frankly kinda ruins the experience.  This is a rather crucial feature and it is definitely broken. Consequently it has broken this game for me.  No patch, hotifx, hoop or promise has fixed this for me.  I'm still waiting to finish the thing.  Being told I'm delusional or toxic p!sses me off.  Being lectured by cretins for legit concerns also p!sses me off.  But I'm still trying.  I'm still here and hoping.  I'm just not blind, nor servile, nor gullible.  It will be what it is and I will judge it then - for myself - and adjust my attitude accordingly.

It's all anyone can do, really.  I really hope this gets pulled off and things get cool again.

See above - and on PC.  My specs match the recommended.  Still too many troubles, alas.

Pleasing us by addressing our concerns and taking our feedback into account, yes. We've established that.

I would encourage you to keep playing BG over and over again forever until you die of old age or bitterness, whichever comes first. It's not going anywhere, and maybe you'll even enjoy yourself, assuming you're capable of enjoying anything. Your posts are ridiculous.

I try to be ridiculous but Inquisition is on another level. So yes, i'm very frustrated I can't be as imbecile as this game no matter how hard i try.

Well, that certainly sucks. I take it you have tried to completely uninstall and re-install the game, including wiping the folders and tempory storage? I've had a handful of such ultra-weird bugs nobody else had over the years, but so far every one of them could be fixed by fiddling with my system. Keeping my system clean of internet stuff also helps.

DAI is a very intensive game on the PC. Admittedly, the jump to Frostbite was something DA fans were not exactly ready for if they didn't pay attention to specs before release... Many did not, attempting to run the game on Dual Cores and such. The main issue with DAI is that it's not friendly on older machines.

My game works almost flawlessly with no crashes. That's because my PC laptop is updated, clean, and powerful enough to "overcome" whatever problems weaker machines can't.

That's not to say that people with BETTER machines didn't have problems. It also doesn't work that well with overclocked drivers (which most hardcore gamers have) as well as SLI.

That's a fundamental design problem (or oversight?) on the code level. It's not really feasible to attempt to fix it, at least not remotely in the near future.

So basically, if your system can't run DAI it probably won't unless you fix the issues on your end or update your platform.

It's the same reason I quit playing RTW2 until I got this new PC. My old (but properly maintained) PC simply couldn't run it reliably and kept crashing during some battles when other people played normally. My Civ5 game kept freezing in the late game despite meeting and exceeding minimum requirements.

Sure DAI may not be in the bleeding edge of graphics quality, but there are a lot of variables that people don't account for etc..

It's simply a reflection of the reality of increasingly demanding games.

I'll be happy to.  So, how wrong would I be if I postulated that an enormous patch (kudos for the DA2 extras) that needs extensive beta-testing is a kind of tacit acknowledgement that this game is not in an ideal state as previously marketed?  As some have asserted elsewhere?  Would that pull a few heads out of a few sandbanks?

By the look of it Patch 5 is additional content, chest, face melter and so on, which has nothing to do with a previously marketed state.

They have learnt from that DAMP key glitch that a final chest (or beta here) will improve the chances of a bug-free implementation.

OK so now I'm excited and disappointed at the same. The new patch looks fantastic and I can't wait to get it but being a Xbone player I'll have to wait until after the beta process and the patch passes certification. I hope that all the PC beta testers enjoy  the new content and give Bioware valuable feedback so we all get a patch we can enjoy soon.

So if you harvest something it is not under crafting materials in your inventory? If that is the case I would suggest repairing or even reinstalling the game. This is the first I have heard of anyone having crafting materials not go into their inventory. If others have the same problem, it would be helpful to see if their system (console or PC) or even their ISP have anything in common that may be causing this issue.

On another note and, more on topic, yes Bioware made mistakes with DAI but, they are making an effort to correct them. It will take time and effort but, this beta program is a big step in the right direction. Testing and feedback for actual players on a variety of computers BEFORE releasing it to the public. Add to that the potential for the betas to test future patches and DLC, thus getting them released with a lot fewer bugs and glitches and, the devs interacting directly with a portion of the players plus the fact that if this works out as well as it has for other game producers, it may come to console players as well in the future. This is definitely a positive move that shows they are listening and, they do care about us. Now it will be up to the betas working with them and them working with the betas to make this work, and make it a good thing for all of us.

So, if you get selected for the beta, don't be a jerk in there, be constructive, honestly test the game, be honest but not rude and, keep your fingers and mouth quiet about what you are testing and we can work together and make DAI, and future DA games better, more enjoyable and, less problematic for everyone.

I'm involved in other, similar testing circles and i have seen this work first hand and, trust me, it makes a beautiful, amazing, fun, brilliant game when it works and, it feels pretty good to be a part of making that happen for every single player of the game.

Damn... This sounds soooo good, but will it bring back the dupe-glitch? T^T I have put off downloading the latest patch because it "fixed" the glitch, but now if Xenon is back I just might have to budge... Still, the dupe-glitch is love, the dupe-glitch is life - for me, it's the one thing that keeps me enthralled with the game right now, allowing me to make pretty armors without fearing a screw-up.

*thumb* First World Problems...

I understood one of the main reasons (I've read) for using the dupe glitch was to get materials to deck out their parties in matching golden armour. With the tinting, that problem is solved presumably (might also be some rare materials shopping options in the Emporium).

Errat did say his PC was close to recommended. As much as it sucks it is sort.of par for the course for this type of game to break on certain setups. Inquisition doesn't have the benefit of modding to fix it unfortunately. I'm glad I got it for ps4.

on ps4 move say 4 dragon bone to valuables press triangle n X together an it doubled the dragon bone to 8, rinse repeat, could do it for most crafting material, also had the benefit i guess of adding substantial gold to your wallet when selling all

Used to be able to click buy and sell rapidly to duplicate crafting material in a shop, can't do that now. No big deal except that there are only 10 dragons in the game and, that is the only source of T4 mats so, there are not enough of them to put all of your companions in full BIS gear. Not that you actually need to do that to finish the game but, a lot of people WANT to do that and/or want different looks all in T4 mats or, they simply would rather dupe than farm for what they need.

It was an unintentional exploit, it won't be back. If you want to do those things now, you can use third party programs in SINGLE PLAYER ONLY to duplicate mats but, only on PC so, it's upsetting console player and purists who will not use cheats or mods. Understandable but, it was an exploit and should never have been in the game to begin with.

Yup.  Tis supersucky.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now. Cleared everything and jumped through the hoops I could tolerate. No joy.  I have one last thing to try - and that's chucking all my already-saves and starting over fresh with a new Inquisitor.  When I can actually find the time.

*Sigh*  I see a long road ahead (imagine the butt and calves of the Inquisitor after that thousand km of jog!), filled with many dead nugs and suicidal fennics....
