I don't run into that many pugs using mics, but when I do, they all seem to have their own crazy theories on game mechanics. I thought I'd share a few, and start a things pugs say thread for other insane things you've heard over the mic.

Some of my favourites:

If the person who opens a locked door, opens the chest, there's a 10% increase in the chance of getting an item.
- no idea if that's true, I suspect not, but I've heard a few different pugs say it. One was so convinced they would scream down the mic and attempt to kick anyone who opened "the wrong chest"

Using levers to open short cuts causes the key glitch/ RTC glitch
-I got blamed for causing the commander to bug out because I used a lever in the first room. It was magical.

Winters grasp causes the key glitch
- May or May not be true, but when I first heard it the pug who was complaining was using firestorm...

You can tell if a chest is going to have an item, based on the shape of a small decoration above the door.
- apparently a pug was told this by a 'developer' and was convinced it was true. He demonstrated this amazing knowledge by guessing what was in the chests with a whopping 0% success rate.

The ones I've heard are guys getting new weapons which I think stink but feel they are going to dominate with.  Also abilities.  One guy was really down on the Neromancers in a game last night and declared he would never use it again because it was so lack luster compared to some other classes like the Katari.

This one was probably true. Enemies would sometimes not "die" properly if they had a special death animation, like shattering or being incinerated. It's why Firestorm got blamed so much.

 

Obviously the person who said it to you wasn't the one who made the observation, or he wouldn't have been using Firestorm...

Now I feel like joining a pug and explaining how if they salvage everything, the next time they open a large chest they'll get 5 unique level 25 items...

I've actually heard this, as well. But it wasn't specific to Venatori, though.

 

I've also heard "oh, I've got to pull the lever. only mages can pull levers."

 

It's been a while since I've heard anything out of a pug, though, since I turned off voicechat.

I hear that for every healing pot you leave untouched on the map you get +5% extra exp.

 

I heard that if you shout LEEROY JENKINS into the mic as a dwarf that the next Golden nug that appears will instead be a chicken.

 

I once heard that if you jump from a standing still position just as the demon commander pops up, you'll land on his head and then be able to surf him for the rest of the match as you'll teleport with him.

 

I once heard if you cast dispell or spell purge on a chest before you try and open it, it'll prevent the guardian's from appearing.

 

I heard that templars could use spell purge to open mage doors.

I've heard about the large chests, too, but I can dismiss these claims - they all got flat chestpieces.
