Some people on the Non-Spoilers Scuttlebutt says it looks good and made their gameplay experience a lot better in SP mode, but due to the non-disclosure thingie, they can't talk too much about it.

Non disclosure thingie for a patch? That's, that's, that's very much progressive! So they can't  tell if elvhes got their fix. Yeah, a man gets lost in all this progressive thinking.

I'm just reporting what I've seen there. It's a beta and nothing says all of the stuff they are seeing will be fully implemented in the patch. It's possible some of the ideas they have so far might be spread through different patches if the coding gets complicated. Though I read that it fixed a lot of glitches. The posters there won't say which one got fixed.

Meanwhile, the only thing I play on DAI at the moment is the MP because at least it feels more balanced.

Watches everyone roll with their Elementalist on Perilous.

Actually, it's very much standard. I can't remember a closed beta without an NDA.

I've never once heard of an NDA on a single player game for a patch....just saying...

Has there ever been a closed beta for a patch, though? My impression of patches is that they typically just drop on everyone.

I just have to ask, why are customers beta testing a patch for a largely SP game? Does Bioware have so few QA to play through the game to see if there are any bugs?

Honestly, what is this nonsense of offloading QA to customers lately with things that have mostly been in the field of MMO's?

Why pay Bob and Jane if you can get the Church of the Latter Day Saints to comb for bugs free of charge.

It's a way to account for the gazillion different PC configurations they can't test on their own, and to get some player response before publishing. As for bugs, at this point in the development process, 95% of them have already been fixed, and the beta test is to find those that escaped the work of the professional testers. And before you ask: this always happens. 100% bug-free software does not exist, at least beyond a certain level of complexity and if it's made by people who want to make money from it and can't spend several years on testing and fixing.

They're probably selecting a few famous fans who have been around for a while, like Lady Ashe, GamerMD83, etc.

Ney it was like first come first serve. When they opened the signups it filled up very quickly though.

So long as they fix the having to hold RMB to rotate camera in action mode and the controls in tactical mode I am reasonably happy (well, at least I would be able to play the game without damaging my wrist), but I am concerned that the people they selected may overlook these more pressing issues in favour of the more pronounced ones like changing facial appearance or voice. Those are easier to put on a 'hot topic' because they raise a certain amount of controversy, whereas critical usability problems are rather objective and straightforward and often end up being overlooked as a result.

Ofc this upgrade and every future DLC is coming to consoles. In fact DLCs have a timed exclusivity on Xbox One. (I am still not sure if BE should be classified as DLC and will be exclusive for a while on Xbox One, or if BE is a part of the patch)

Jeffry, I am curious as hell!

Can you tell me for real that things like the ""auto-attack-button/-option" will come to consoles too ???

I would be over the moon !!!!!!!!! Because since I have read the patch 5 blog entry ... I was so damn worried ... that the auto-attack will only be for PC! I would be thrilled to learn that I am wrong here and that they will include this stuff for consoles as well.

I mean all Bioware has to do for this (since they wrote - that they will implement an extra button for the aa on PC's) is to create an option in the options section on consoles to "switch on" and "off" or "toggle the preset" between "auto-attack" and this "action-thingy" we have now ... where we have to hold down the "button of death:wacko:  ... you know this button ... that makes me feel like I am a 3 year old child ... that has to be constantly watched ... or ... whatever ???

Dear BioWare:

I really, really, really, really hate having to hold down this damn button ...

...like nobody would believe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spoiler

So, Jeffry - again ...

Does anyone know anything for real ???

Did any of the devs say that they ... want to ... or ... will ... implement this for consoles too ... ???

Because I do not believe they will!

3 to 4 guys trying to find all the various bugs through play testing vs 100 people with saves at various points throughout the game testing for bugs? which one will likely find the most bugs?

My point exactly. Why are customers being used doing (for free) the same work as the '3-4 guys'? Are they short on money to temporarily hire QA to test features?

You're basically advocating "Hey I'll take a buggy game for $60 as long as I can beta test it for you guys." Great, have 100 people do it, just don't expect not to be poked at when you're asking your customers to play QA with your game after they've paid.

Amused...they involve community complaints that they are stingy, bad management,shouldnt...just release  complaints why the community   not involved  bad management ....damned of you do damned if you dont .THE logic of these forums is endless comedy.

No I'm advocating that it makes more sense to ask (as they aren't forcing anyone to beta test anything.) the actual players who now have/own the game as opposed to when it was in development, to give their input on a new "whatever you want to call it." that will eventually go into effect at some point down the line. Yes it's free for them but it's also a mixed bag of information being fed to them, they could end up with 20 people telling them all the same thing in different ways, 100 people giving feedback means 100+ messages some poor soul has to sit and read through and then try and decipher and pass on to developers. Also it might just be me, but I'd feel a lot better knowing that my personal insights are being heard directly as oppose to 3 to 4 guys who may or may not be as into what they are doing because A.) They just want to get paid, B.) Because they are being forced to play this game multiple times a day and told to screw it up as much as possible then write about it. C.) Any other reason that might affect their ability to pay attention to detail and record it.

For a patch? It is ridiculous. PTR are common but calling it 'beta' and putting NDA. Cosmos.
