How do I know I am able to install the beta patch or that it has been installed? I signed up for it in Keep the day it was possible and all I can see is Unreleased Beta placeholder in Origin. I also have Origin set up to ask me before it starts installing anything and I haven't been asked since the release day of the last official one.

Or I didn't miss a memo and it is still not out yet... ? :D

Go to origin, where the game tiles are that you click on to start your games. There should be a beta DAI tile, to the left of the regular DAI tile, if you are in the beta.

Nope, that's a sarcasm attempt. Alan should be on a PR payroll, that's why each and every comment of his goes like 'game is fine, stop complaining and watch the game being great, your opinion is insignificant if you don't agree game is a diamond' and so on. Not a single constructive comment. Ever.

Are you sure you're actually reading my posts? I almost never lead with defending the game; my standard M.O. is to attack a criticism for being hysterically overstated, logically incoherent, and so forth. (I'm really not very interested in talking about whether other people like the game or not; there's nothing interesting in that.) Although in this case we haven't been discussing the game at all; we've been discussing Bio's patching strategy, so your post is a bit of a non sequitur.

Who was making the sarcasm attempt, anyway? Captain Wiseass was, sure, but he already knew that and didn't need you to tell him that. If you meant me, you're simply wrong.

Ah, I see! Thanks, I had games filtered by favorites. :)

Well, I can't speak for all of his comments but the one that you're referring to was questioning the point of going nuts if one's particular bugbear isn't sorted in the next patch... i'm not sure that counts as 'not constructive'.

Well, technically, I was telling him that he might as well keep going nuts about his substantive issue until the patch drops, rather than waste time complaining about the NDA. The worst thing that can happen is that Bio really has fixed the issue in the beta and he'll waste a couple of weeks ranting about something that's been fixed. If Bio hasn't fixed elves in the beta, then rants about the NDA take up space that could be used for rants about elves.

Ridiculous.  All of this should have been in the original game.

Cool it down people. I understand some of you are angry, but being aggressive and throwing shades at other users won't bring anything positive. Keep this thread productive and try to encourage more changes instead of bickering with your follow forumites.

Edit: Mods have the permission to delete some of the most aggressive posts. I want to keep this thread as clean, positive and productive as possible for future patches references.

Your right Teddie the point is their trying to fix things and thats what matters I do hope they can at least get the game back to a playable state one where we will be able to beat the game again heres hoping anyway.

Same here. The game crashed a few times here since I got the new patch. I hope patch 5 will indeed bring a lot of new content in the game. I want to see the Black Emporium for myself.

Well it wasnt. They're releasing a free dlc/patch so now you have nothing to complain about.

Game development is about compromises.

Bioware's reaction/behavior kind of proves Icy Magebane's point. Don't you think?

(If she actually ment it how it sounded ...)

The BSN screamed ... they heard and understood us. Nothing wrong with that!

We buy their stuff ... We finance them!

Kind of essential to the whole process of game developement ... to scream out loud what you really think instead of sugarcoating it ...

We have to be blunt at times!

They only "add" it now because people like Icy Magebane have screamed it out loud through the ether !!!

If the BSN wasn't such a loud medium Bioware would not be able to react to it's customers needs.

You, me and others don't know for a fact what we will get in patch 5 !!!

That people like her KEEP screaming makes sure that Bioware gets the chance to think twice about what gets included :)

That's not necessarily so. There's also the possibility that they wanted it to be in the game all along, but couldn't finish it by the release deadline. This kind of thing apparently happens a lot, especially with big games that are on tight deadlines.

Also, there's being "blunt", and being a jerk. People don't always stop on the right side of the line.

Well we will never know for sure what their plans are. But we have no other choice but to be honest about what we want!

Being blunt is part of that !!!

I think ... we also don't know if it could not have gone in a much worse direction if we had not "complained" so much! We don't know anything.

I understand and respect that you want to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt - I do. But we don't know anything.

If they had absolut control and freedom - the game would be very different. But like Kantr said ... it is all a compromise!

I for one prefer to be honest and "keep it real" ... for as long as they keep listening and make patches. That is all the help I can offer to them.

I dont mean a compromise between Bioware and EA I mean a compromise in that you cant put everything you want in a game because then you get feature creep and you never make the game.

I dont think Bioware got the idea from the forums at all. However which way you look at it, the Black Emporium will be cool.

Give me a break.  I'm not going to thank them for finally getting around to including things that should have been obvious from the start.

Well i know what you ment -_-

But I have to admit ...

I quoted you poorly because my emphesis lies on the "everything" here ... because, to me, all sides of this triangle: The developement/creative side, the financing/development-time and the feedback/the fans ... suffer from compromises.

By quoting you directly I did "re-frame" the meaning of your frase by putting it in another context - without really refering to it ^_^

My apologies :D

Mike Laidlaw said in a Da:I panel before release that they will offer the option to us to change our apperance "afterwards" at some point ...

To me it was kind of obvious that they were planning to sell it to us as DLC content. That we get that now for free is disproving your assumption quite directly, quite heavily and quite obviously ...

You can still find that on youtube!

If the only complaints about Da:I on the BSN were about the charater creator ... we would get a DLC.

But because the forum is practically "melting lava" right now ... and the topics about all sorts of stuff ...

Bioware reacts in a different way. That will be good for them and us!

Game can't be fixed with such poor addons. It will be less painful, let me foresee... I guess... about one year after launch when we will probably have some sort of barely acceptable DLC that will indeed feature a lot of things that were missing in the main game.

Problem is DAI's issues are structural, are in the engine, there is no fix for this. Not only the game/graphics engine, the way the game was built is "unfixable". The way the writting relates to the gameplay, the game pace, the systems, everything. So yeah, let's be happy because they are putting a cherry on the top of a pile of ****, because "YAY a cherry!"

Although this forum is not the only social media platform. BioWare is looking for feedback in different places, I assume, and this includes the forum but it's not the only way to find out how people react to their game.

It doesn't matter, really, and we can't settle the issue anyway. Bio never talks in any detail about how they decide to do this sort of thing.
