AFAIK, there's no reason to think the PC patch will be released before the consoles' one. PC is just the obvious platform to launch a public betatesting with, nothing else.

Actually, given the history of patching multi-platform games, there's every reason to think that the patch will come out on PC first and have a week or two minimum delay to consoles. :P Only because they have to jump through more hoops with Sony and Microsoft for patching console versions.

Doubt it, but anyway, here's hoping (as a PC user as I am).

I did not. There is far better option: take NDA off the cart.

Again, NDAs are standard industry practice for many very good reasons. Work on your ability to delay gratification. Studies show that children who develop this ability by age 5 are much better able to cope in adult life. Anecdotal evidence suggests you still have time.

No, I don't remember seeing NDA on patches. Gratification? I don't know if the elf breaking bug is fixed.

Does the new mirror allow us to change gender and race?

Why you are hostile to the idea? I suppose the gender change could make gender specific romances difficult to handle...

No, I don't remember seeing NDA on patches.

That's because patches don't generally have public betas, silly. Without a public beta there's no NDA because everybody working on the patch is an employee.

If Bio was handling patch 5 in the usual fashion you wouldn't even know that it existed, let alone what was in it.

And race-related content. No way Bio's going to go that route.

These days great many patches have public testing, mon ami. I have not seen NDA  even once.

Oh, you misunderstood me there!
I would love it!!!

I just think they'll never do it. If only because that would change all the already happened and already saved reaction of the npc's towards your character! What if you romanced a none bi-sexual person in a bioware game - for example ?

First and foremost I would like that feature for a new-game-plus mode - which also is missing. Maybe they do it next time they include a new-game-plus feature in a game...

If this is genuinely the first NDA on a beta that you have ever seen, then the issue is that you don't have much experience of the industry, not that Bioware are being difficult.

Not that there's anything wrong with that per se, just that you're not really any a position to declare any release options to be better or worse than any other.

Does the new mirror allow us to change gender and race?

I believe that's already been confirmed, and the answer is no. It just changes appearance and voice.

It is the first patch with NDA attached. I have seen games, expansions with closet betas NDA but patch? Never.

I agree. It is completely ridiculous to have an NDA on a patch.

Well, you know the NDA is probably mostly for what comes with the DLC right? Some things might be scratched from it until the very last minute, which is why they aren't spreading too much in details what's in it.

Which would imply that there is something in the patch that needs it. NDAs are annoying, restrictive things for all concerned and they are not used simply for the lolz.

Given the last game considered this kind of content as DLC, it should be obvious why a NDA is in place.

Or combined patch+freedlc is a good excuse to keep changes in the dark and postpone outcry. I don't know. If they do not wish to 'spoil' additional content then suuureeeeee, but they should at least take NDA off from fixes.

Your point is moot for that reason - if you don't know why the NDA was put in place then there's no point arguing whether the NDA should have only been applied to XYZ. For one thing, suggesting they try to apply an NDA only to specific aspects of particular patch tells me you've never dealt with them before (as to do so is impractical to say the least), so I'd refer you back to my initial point.

Could you name a few? Not that I don't believe you, but I've never seen that done for any game I've ever played. Is this maybe an MMO thing?

Anyway, I still don't see what your problem is. Why are you so bothered to not know what's in the patch? If the fix is in the patch, you still wouldn't have it until the patch is released. Like I said upthread, shouldn't you be spending your time whining about elves rather than whining about the NDA?

Simple Alan... Elves are all he thinks about and he needs BioWare to fix them while for most of us, they're perfectly fine.

With them? BioWare? No, I did not see NDA stuffed patch before. Partial NDA is a common thing too. I see it being quite practical. Still, I want to know about the elvhes and their broken-glued arms fix.

Most of Blizzard patches are being tested this way. I have no memory for game titles.

Whining about NDA is about elvhes.

Yes, maybe most of 'you'. Most of us, elvhen players complain about it. They are not fine, models are broken and glued.

'perfectly fine'

This is not your average patch. The NDA makes sense due to the new content in development, here:

http://blog.bioware....black-emporium/

Imagine the testers being told they can talk about, say, 13 features, but not these 19 other features, how long would it take before someone slips up? In order to avoid confusion and human error, it's a lot safer to just have an NDA on the entire testing process.
