and a patch 6?
so what are patches 4 and 5 breaking that hotfix
i mean patch six is now being rolled out?
It seems the patch 6 will contain the key binding for PC.
And, surely, the fix for what the patch 5 will corrupt.

Just think what they could have accomplished with twenty people on payroll with assorted PC's testing the game before release.....?
EA is a billion dollar company..they cant keep a stock room of PC'S with interns running the game before release?

What makes you think they didn't? If you watch the credits, you'll see that they had huge QA teams at both BioWare and EA. They likely also had a pool of NDA-covered non-employee testers prior to release. Then why are there so many bugs? There always are. No software ships bug free. Ever. At some point, a release date must be set, and it is always many months before the fact. Release push-backs are expensive, and there is always the chance that new versions late in the dev cycle will create new bugs. All this across several target platforms. It only seems like a simple hurdle to jump if you've never had to jump it.
A closed public beta provides feedback from far more system config combinations than they could ever possibly simulate in-house. Surely you don't really believe that "twenty people ... with assorted PC's" would ever be adequate.

That is exactly why companies, whether it be EA/Bioware or whatever other developers you prefer, use these closed public beta programs and will almost certainly continue to more often. Not to mention it allows them the public-relations opportunity of appearing as though they listen to their consumers by saying "hey, we made this as good as we could, can you take a look at it and tell us what you like or don't like about it?"
There's always more pro's to this type of testing methodology than there is con's.

Well, it's true for the PC. But the consoles gamers have all the same hardware and, for the PS360, the game doesn't look like he's been through a solid beta test.
Okay, back on topic : I just hope the Patch 6 will not be to fix the Patch 5.
Don't think so....it'd completely ruin the point of having a public betatest at all....
By now, I assume it will just be a patch to fix what patch 4 glitched like some of the main quests and maybe some of the other exploits like the infinite spawn of Necromancer's minions if you save and reload files when you get one of them. They're probably trying to nerf some skills and exploits right now, which wouldn't surprise me after what happened to the item duplication exploit.
Anybody seen any updates on the Patch 6 beta? The post-NDA message said that the beta forum would be available today (3/2), but I'm still denied access.

Beta DL option now shows up for me in Origin.

What if Patch 5 will fix anything Patch 6 will corrupt?

So the title is "Dragon Age: Inquisition Patch 5 Notes"
and then it goes "Dragon Age™: Inquisition 1.06"
Typo or the wrong list posted?
Fixed a loot exploit.
Great job, BioWare, that issue should have been fixed a long time ago, since it is a very serious one!!1!

No black emporium in patch 5 no surprise here

Neither, the version numbering is just wonky because reasons.
Getting scared about The Black Emporium here.... ![]()
What I thought The Black Emporium was apart of Patch 5 or was that B-Ware messing with us?
Actually, what the previous blog entry says is that "as part of the beta, participants will have access to the Black Emporium" - it doesn't say anything about BE being part of patch 5, merely that it's a part of beta program.
^ I just wanted to write the same thing but you beat me to it midnight_tea. It was never stated that the BE is part of patch 5. The wording could have been a bit clearer though.

BioWare's got some 'splainin' to do. I was worried when some suggested that it was in the beta 'cause REASONS, and that it probably wasn't actually a part of the patch, and when I go back and read their blog post it is indeed cleverly worded so as to sound like it's saying one thing when it's really saying something else:
"As part of the beta, participants will have access to the Black Emporium, a mysterious underground shop run by an immortal proprietor. There, Inquisitors can find powerful artifacts and tools to aid their cause, purchase epic weapons, powerful accessories, new crafting materials and schematics, and even change their voice and facial appearance using the Mirror of Transformation."
Nowhere does it say that the Emporium is actually part of the patch that the patch beta testers were testing, even though it is included "as part of the beta."
Bad form, BioWare. Bad form. Why is it that whenever I defend you, you manage to prove yourselves unworthy of being defended? Will I never learn?
... The wording could have been a bit clearer though.
That's quite the understatement.
Any idea how long these betas will last, i mean its been months since they had any update. I know they want to polish and polish but wow.
Hasn't even been a month since we did the Patch 5 Beta and.... http://blog.bioware....-patch-5-notes/

Well, let's not jump into conclusions until the Patch 5 is released.....(crosses fingers...).
The wording is pretty straightforward IMHO - I think however that people got a bit too excited and misread it (reading comprehension FTW).
In any case, that doesn't mean that it won't be released as an add-on or DLC soon enough, maybe even at the same time.
