Yeah, I use the Acolyte on him before for that very thing, it's just a pain when I'm in the midst of downing a Banshee or Atlas and voila, a phantom comes in from right behind them and the handcannon of doom drops my shields before the weapon switch animation is even done.

The quarian is a lowly peasant and cannot afford these kinds of methods, but your an enlightened PC players: why not simply disable their cheatings via coalesced? ;) I know for experience that it makes for an incredibly better experience when you're hosting Cerberus matches, especially if you're playing something like a saber quarksman :)

Fourtunately, in those situations you have a DODGE :D so you can do something instead of just standing there and dying to the next salvo as if you were playing certain other weapons platforms  .

I found a wonderful way to avoid the phantom nonsense....quit any game with cerberus instantly*

*There have to be very specific circumstances for me to play cerberus

when playing quarksman, I find that it is hard to resist all of those wonderfully and easily explodable humanoid heads, even with phantom BS and annoying shitsmoke everywhere.

...one of the only classes I think the Saber isn't total garbage on, ....

You talk as if you know a lot about the game but only someone who knows nothing at all could say that.

Having a dodge is the biggest advantage the quarian has over the turian, indeed. The turian has others, though ;)

Precisely. I understand the hate for Cerberus BS Slasher has, they can be pretty full of it, especially if you're playing off host, but apart from the fact that it's a tolerable kind of bs to me, the most important thing that makes Cerberus my favorite faction is:

MELONS. MELONS EVERYWHERE!!!!

Damage is solid but isn't particularly high. Cooldown penalty is ridiculous. Ammo capacity is kind of poor. It's not exactly a great combination.

With headshots you'll kill most basic troopers with a single shot.  At level X, you can put it on quite a few caster classes (Tsent, Justicar) without having much impact on cooldowns.  And with extended mags, you should be able to go an entire round only reloading once.

I don't have it on x, which probably has a great deal to do with why I've never been able to get much out of it with most characters.

I use saber on a lot of casters and the cooldown penalty never hurt me. And I play all my casters extremely power-focused to an extent where I prefer 50 tech/biotic kills (whenever possible) to 25 weapon kills medal.

Pretty sure that's why you have been having problems with the CD penalty of saber.

Agreed.  I found past, say, level V, the cooldown became a lot less of an issue, as does the spare ammo.  At level X, it's a very, very solid weapon.  The cooldown on most casters will be between 130-150%, while still allowing you to put out decent damage.  And of course, if you put it on a class with RoF bonuses, it'll also do extremely well.  TSol Saber is a beast, and at level X, the Marksman cooldown synergises perfectly with the extended clip size.  Just as you start the reload animation, you can activate it again.

I get sync'ed by Banshees more with the Destroyer than any other kit (even other ones that can't dodge)

given how fast the PPR melts things with Devastator mode on....

Are you wielding the Spitfire and bringing the pizza home?

If so, working as intended...

A sidenote: Does anyone else see the irony that, in a polar opposite of most games' bizarre fascination with this, the Destroyer is the only black human character in multiplayer but was made to be the least athletic of them all?

How do you know that? Doesn't every human character have head to toe armour? Even the vanilla engineer and infiltrator have their visor tinted to the point that you can't see through it.

I mean, c'mon, the body types on all of the human women at least give support to the idea of them having a high chance of all being curvaceous black female stereotypes.

Saber is one of the four great assault rifles (Saber, Harrier, PPR, Typhoon). If you think it's garbage except in special circumstances, well... L2P.

I'd add the Lancer to this as well, assuming you aren't playing a fire rate boosting weapon platform.

I could be wrong, but the Destroyer's player voice (but not what the voice sounds like if you have a Destroyer in your game but aren't using him) sounds like he has a black American or Canadian voice actor.

Most games that have black NPCs invariably use the ancient racial trope of "star athletes" (see: Jacob in ME2, Sig in Jak & Daxter, the entire Redguard race in The Elder Scrolls, and so forth). That's why it stands out to me so.

When all your ARs are at lower levels, at the very least, the Valkyrie is good too. My Harrier is at II and my Lancer is at III. My Valkyrie is a III and for most characters is more useful. I'd love to at some point have my ARs maxed. Everything else is at this point, so it's not a long time coming.

Just don't use the Spitfire, unless you're nuts like me and Loufi.

While I prefer the Typhoon on the Destroyer, the Spitfire is just too funny to use. It's like roleplaying a Cerberus Turret. :P

Lancer would be in the Top 5/6 (competing with the Valkyrie), but it can't hold a candle to look-at-me-one-clipping-plat-bosses PPR.

Truthfully, I do like the Valkyrie quite a bit, maybe even more than the Lancer.
