I hate to keep comparing Dragon Age to Mass Effect as obviously its apples and oranges in terms of lore, but I think we could still do with some more races, especially if they are some what unique in both lore and appearance. This is a fantasy setting and for the most part the only civilized races that we know of are the Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Qunari. To me that just doesn't seem diverse enough, and it may already be to late to introduce new ones as the world history of Thedas has already been kind of lengthy, explorations of the oceans may lead to new lands with new civilizations but thats pretty much our only option I think in terms of introducing new people, well that and the whole alien mothership crash lands on Thedas, or some far long continent but that might be a little much.

Personally I'm fine as it is. While I like a variety of races I think if there were too many then some would just become insignificant and just be there for the sake of it. With the 4 races we have at the moment there is still a reasonable amount of variety but each race is still unique and very important to the plot and lore, playing large parts in both.

With that said, I would actually like to see the Fex. They are canon and it just seems odd that we've barely even heard of them so far.

Iron Bull alluded to the Kossith that live wherever the Qunari fled from being something quite a bit different than the Qunari, so I can see us bumping into them in the future, maybe. They might end up being another race altogether.

I never heard of them until you mentioned them.

I've seen people speculate that these weird paintings in the Emerald Graves of some kind of lizard dudes, that look like something Ancient Aliens guy would go crazy about, might be related to the Kossith...so you might be right. :S

Par Vollen is an island noted for being the largest known home of the Qunari. It is a tropical island chain, which is covered mostly by rainforests and jungles, and located far north of Rivain. A primitive, yet sapient, race called the Fex has inhabited this island since before the Qunari arrived

That's literally all we know of them so far. It just seems really odd that an entire sapient race was just seemingly added as a footnote.

Yeah I wiki'd them as soon as I saw that. Wonder if they'll retcon them.

I'm pretty happy as is honestly. I'd like to know more about darkspawn life.

I know people don't conventionally think of them as a race, but aren't spirits/demons also a race of beings?

I could get into playing a spirit next game. A morality meter could influence how demon like or spirit like you become.

I suppose you could say they are.

I like this idea, maybe they might add some more, we still don't know that much about the race we have been talking about do we. So only time will tell. As they could be addeding more stuff soon. Or as we speck as we do not know.

That is the most common guess fans have made, so it is not just you.

except you don't really have 4, you have 3, Human, Dwarf or Elf. The whole Qunari thing is getting more and more away from what was original a rarely seen race of horned people, how many times can you use the "my parents were Tal Vashoth" without that becoming stale? And with the Qunari actively hunting such people it seems like that shouldn't be a option in every game to follow. I feel they should actually go back to that really.

I'd be interested in seeing them possibly expand on what other 'races' (or possibly cultures? There's so few details) they've alluded to in the past. The Fex, as someone above mentioned, could be interesting to see, though I'm curious as to how they'd actually implement them. It is a bit odd that there's been so little mention. Another potential race might be the Kossith, which was also mentioned. Given that there's little info (in game at least) as to what drove the present day Qunari away from the Kossith....might be fascinating.

Agreed the more races they try to put in the moer complicated the game becomes and the harder it'll be to focus on races that are already there. This doesn't just go for DA but ME as well so things have to be handled carefully.

The next Dragon Age games will probably head somewhere else, so there are chances that we might see new races. Be patient.

Oh I don't know, about as many as "I'm a human from a noble family"

They don't need to add more races, I think. But different variations would be fun. City elf, dalish elf, etc. And human varieties.
