In the options menu, I'd love to have an option where I could customize the search function to only detect certain objects while excluding others.
I really don't require it to point out ladders and doors to me that I can see quite plainly for myself (or road signs that are hardly worth bringing attention to given that the player has a MAP complete with map markers).
But I'm aware that preferences may vary, so a screen where we can check or uncheck what types of objects our search function detects would be beneficial, I believe.

Certainly, add this to the method of search along with how long it is active.
A sneak function to aid creeping around quietly with heightened senses - be nice to have the animation also change to sneak
A loot function for worldly items in general that has focus groups and rare item searches that stay highlighted for a period of time.
I agree that doors and ladders and the like should not show up.
Probably will need a spreadsheet type of selection criteria because of the large number of items, say bring up a book and set the sort options inside it.
