I ended up setting up an mmo mouse key that triggers a command to kill the DAI executable because of how ridiculously long it takes to exit this game.
If you have to interupt the quick exit to finish a save or network update, then first optimize the speed of any of those slow steps that were used as an excuse to prevent a fast exit AND then provide a mostly fast exit.
Alt + F4 works quite well.
Alt-Tab and close it also works
I've also used used control alt del often enough when the games behaving badly.

Ive just started using Alt+F4 as well.. Loving it! So much better than waiting 2,3mins to leave your game!
Yeah, how is there not a save and quit option? Or just a quit to desktop option?
