I believe the Maker exists afterall someone has to have created life in the world.

Currently there is no being we are aware of in Thedas that has the power to give life or create a living soul.

That ability is beyond any entity we know.

The Chantry is indeed correct about a few things

It was certainly in the tone of prophesy and I honestly think it was though that doesn't mean the maker will appear in game unless its at the end of the last dragon age game. It helps that that the led designer stated that Eleni Zinonvia's prophesies have something to them and aren't just random and that she foretold what Corpyheus was going to do.

It was in the tone of her interpretation of how she saw events unfolding. Given that she is Andrastian, it colors how she views what transpired. It's not proof that the Maker is real simply any more than the Inquisitor is, despite how a plethora of Andrastians interpreted the protagonist to have been rescued by 'Andraste' and 'blessed by the Maker'.

Then who created the Maker? And who created the being that created the Maker? And who created the being that created the being that created the Maker? Do you see the flaw with this argument?

Thedas has unlimited magic you just need to be powerful enough and you can turn the world upside down...that will never be the case in the real world

Thedas is a fantasy setting and should not be mixed up with the real world. It needs to be viewed on its own for what it is.

Not unlimited. Magic can affect change, but only change to the physical state of the world and only certain types of changes.

Hmm she's not Andrastian, she predates Andraste. The maker is simply another name for the Tevinter/Neromenian Creator deity though.

I see it.

But I also can see the possibility (though I cannot remotely understand or calculate it) of there being realms beyond the universe as we conceive of it.

Maker comes from 'elsewhere'. That may be all we need to know in a fantasy world. Sci fi tries to at least remotely explain this sort of thing (even if often in a flimsy way), but Fantasy doesn't have to.

I don't believe in 'The Maker', but I don't 100% rule it out, and I don't think your argument really matters much.

And IRL, I don't agree with the related creationist argument, but I think that hey, sure, there could be a 'beyond/before the universe and sure, some entity may have done something'. No proof though. Just as there's no proof in the Maker.

Is there no one else concerned that the story of Thedas will end in complete devastation?

I'm ready for it.

But no, I don't think it'll be complete devastation.

It could be he's an Azathoth type entity that created the world for amusement because he is all powerful and has not much to do with himself. Thus he just sits back and watches **** happen, like watching TV.

I have a deeper question.  What if The Maker and Thedas are actually real and exist in an alternate dimension and The Maker put the idea of them in the heads of the Bioware staff so we in this dimension would be aware of this other world?

actually whit the M theory or String Theory M theory being the binding theory on how string mechanic is, so far is can be much more remember thedas exists the thedas we see in a lower dimension right now right now and all the" gamer gods" across the globe who plays DA3 experiences different or similar vibration in the strings of the same dimension supposedly only a simulation mirror universes ? ,, even our world can seem unreal

Why did the Maker create Thedas?

Did he create the world to watch it's descent into ruin?

For more than a thousand years Thedas has suffered calamity after calamity with each catastrophe occurring at extinction levels

Millions upon millions are dead and it's looking like the veil itself was artificially created, an outcome of strife.

Whole stretches of landmass have been rendered useless by the blight. The Anderfels is now a complete Wasteland.

One man tore a breach in the Sky sending hordes of demons on the rampage. Normal people are beset by sufferring

Lyrium is growing out of control

Still somehow or the other, the Maker who created it all for some purpose remains tone deaf.

The only person trying to piece things together is Flemeth, but how much can a dead goddess who is only a fragment of what she used to be salvage? She rescues what remnants of the old magic she can find while pursuing her vengance masterplan.

Now even the Flemeth is dead.

Why did the Maker Create Thedas?

He refuses to help his creations, mortals and gods, evolve,

He does not interfere when the laws governing the world are turned upside down,

He provides no guidance for how mortals and deities should conduct themselves

And so the entire creation both in the fade and in the physical world continues to disintegrate, disfigured by forces run amok.

This is a gaping hole in the lore that a freight train could pass through

Again, why did the Maker create Thedas

why uhhh ummm did god make earth as the bible say ??? meybe DA3 just tell you about human nature ?

You're assuming the Maker was created. I would assume it is an eternally extant entity.

If you'd come today
You could have reached the whole nation
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication

There are people that believe in God, and there are people that don't, there are people that believe in Jesus, and there are those that don't. Dragon Age Chantry is art imitating life. The Maker isn't an Odin or Zeus that stomps his feet along side of mortals. There is belief in one God, there is faith that he is there.

I have had Jews tell me that Jesus wasn't the son of God. If he even existed at all he was just one of many profits of the time. Islam claims the same. Yet Christians believe in Jesus. What about Moses? There is a similar story written in Mesopotamia 5000 years BC. But people have faith.

The question about the Maker is no different that IRL Does God exist?

actually there are many myths connected to religion were a messiah rasis from the dead allso messiah means something totely differently in Jewish religion what it mean in Christianity and all the Abrahemian Inspire Religions  Questions each others point of vue like Quran is seen as being the perfect interpretation of gods words i heard and Christianity oh dam just look at the leading church in Vatican all them Evil papas . now to bodisme many say its a peace and harmony Spiritualety but have you seen some of the buhdist Inspirert Noisy Parths Young Children being proclaimed Reincanated and have to sit still listening to a lot of Scico Babeling, now What about Spirits whay are all this Religing saying Spirits are Deamans or devils and i dont know what just like the chantry

The point is that there are very very powerful beings in the world, that do not have anyone controlling their behavior

So Falon Din can kill off millions of ancient elves because they refused to worship him without any consequences

There is no custodian that is balancing good and evil in the world. (That is the Maker's job if he exists)

Powerful forces can go wild and everyone suffers

The Maker created himself?

Don't think about it. It makes absolutely no sense.

If you've pointed out that it makes no sense then you're over thinking it.

Is there a "balancing" entity in our own world?  A power-mad dictator could launch their nuclear arsenal and kill millions, or billions, of lives. Do you believe that is not happening because of God?

The Maker will never reveal themselves. Bioware was said as much. You are never going to get a moment where a All-powerful Daddy Figure appears that answers all the deep mysteries or turns all the Darkspawn to kittens, and makes the universe feel safe and warm and orderly. The setting doesn't work that way, it's a Dark Fantasy setting that is grim and mysterious on purpose.

But look at it this way: If the Maker exists at all, it operates through Proxies. Andraste was one, but maybe the Herald is too. Heck, even the Hero of Fereldan and other great figures throughout history seem to be "conveniently" in the right place at the right time, with the right amount of power and luck at their disposal to overcome whatever existential threat rises up to destroy the world. That's how some people think the God of various Real-World faiths work, so why not the Maker?

More cynically: It's a game. Bioware will never tell another story that ends on a total downer (not after ME3 at least), the series will have a happy ending.  The "Maker" (Bioware) will send his new Chosen (The PC of the next game) to stop the threat, no matter how dire it is, and the Maker's chosen will prevail. Cue a dramatic fade to black while said Chosen kisses one of 6-8 possible Love Interests.

Easy answer: The Maker did not create Thedas for he does not exist.

..... Why assume there's Maker in the first place? Why assume it was one entity that created everything?

Because the biggest religion in Thedas says so?

The only thing I could believe about the Maker, is that he/she/it, is responsible for the creation of the veil, and thus, is the one sustaining the veil. The veil has to be sustained by something, or someone. So in a way, the maker would be responsible for the creation of the world as the people who live in it, sees it. But I do not believe the maker created the planet they live on. Nor do I believe the maker would hear anyone's prayers. :P

The Maker is Thedas itself. The Fade is His mind.
