Morrigan will regret not making up with her mother for the rest of her days

Very sad turn of affairs for her

Even more so with the god baby. But it will make her a better Mother for it.

Honestly Flemmeth seemed to be a very negative force on her, outside of teaching her magic and independence.

Also she is a negative force on Morrigan Jr. since she either only cares about him for what he has in him or pretty much ignores non OGB Kieran.

Plus I think we still don't even know if she was actual biological child or abducted from some poor chasind woman.

Morrigan and her mother have the same unique eye color...a strange yellow coloration that I have not seen on any other NPC

Why?

Flemeth may have had her reasons, but that doesn't stop her from being a crappy mother.

To know that you tried to kill someone...when that person was attempting to bestow a gift upon you all along

That is a devastating guilt to carry...now add to this the fact that that person was your mother

I am not sure how Morrigan will handle that unfinished business with a clear conscience

If her mother hadn't been such a screaming psycho, I could take your point, but Flemeth is six sorts of crazy.

I think it's pretty clear that Morrigan and Flemeth didn't have the healthiest of relationships, even before the whole body-hijacking incident.

Makes me all the more glad that Morrigan seems to be a much better mother to her own child.

It's obvious Flemeth isn't a very good mom.

But Flemeth doesn't seem to really care if Morrigan makes up with her or not; as long as she accepts what shes been grooming her for. And it seems Flemeth is very confident that she will...

Flemeth was a pretty bad parent. In the Fade, false Flemeth is trying very hard to be kind and nurturing, and Morrigan doesn't buy it. When False Flemeth raises her hand against Morrigan, she says that's more like the real Flemeth. Which points to Morrigan having been abused as a child. Moreover, the fact that the demon was giving a kind and nurturing image of Flemeth in the Fade shows that it was trying to give Morrigan what she always wanted from her mother: love.

Flemeth did teach Morrigan well in regards to magic, but she was not a good mother. Even so, being told that from Morrigan -- how bad of a mother she was -- did seem to cause her some sadness. I think to a degree Flemeth does regret how she treated Morrigan. In her own way she does seem to want the best for her, even if her methods are crap at showing it and she was abusive in the past (which cannot be justified).

With Flemeth is more of the end goal then the how. She just want Morrigan to be strong and independent no matter what it took.

I  never said she did not hit Morrigan. I just said she was no psycho. A psycho mom would do way more then that.

Um, a psycho mom will hit. And raise a little girl to be cold, rude, deceptive, without regard for others. And I'm saying this as a Morrigan fan. Flemeth was a psycho, terribad mother.

Seconded. Flemeth certainly won't win a mother-of-the-year-award.

Well, whether being possessed by an ancient godess is really a gift is debatable ;).

Morrigan made a mistake. Things got so out of hand due to her mistrust. But that doesn't evolve from thin air. There's a reason why she didn't trust Flemeth and feared for her life. You wouldn't develop such feelings towards a mother who always loved you, protected you and understood you. Flemeth was very hard and distant. Maybe this was necessary to prepare Morrigan for the things to come, but it also means that Morrigan didn't have a happy childhood. I always thought Morrigan would be better off without Flemeth. So, what irony that she had to drink from the well.

Wait... FadeFlemeth wasn't the real Flemeth? What am I missing? I'm confused now. The Flemeth you meet in the Fade is the real deal.

TEWR means the Fade quest in DAO where all the companions are tempted by demons.

Almost certain that Hawke-Man and Bethany have the same eye color.

To be fair about the eye color thing, we haven't seen enough Chasind to rule in or out whether or not that is a common trait among chasind humans.

I think Flemeth tried to be a good mother, actually, it was just Morrigan's willfull personality that impeded this. Yavana, for example, seemed to have a genuine respect for Flemeth.

I'm also unsure whether I'd agree with Flemeth not caring whether she made it up with Morrigan. The way she said, "A soul is never forced upon the unwilling, Morrigan. You were never in any danger from me." seemed to contain some genuine tenderness. It's also one of the few times she refers to Morrigan by name, instead of "girl", a sign, I think, that she knew her death was approaching and she wished her final encounter with her daughter to be vaguely affectionate.

Remembering that affectionate comment is what will kill Morrigan. It will eat away at her for a long time

I agree, especially with how vauge Flemeth was its going to leave Morrigan possibly anxious about her mother's next move

Butting back in, but I got the impression from that scene that it was Flemeth who carried regret. Morrigan makes it clear that she loves her boy and would never treat Kieran the way Flemeth treated morrigan. Because no matter how righteous Flemeth's cause, how pure her motivations, she was a terrible mother to Morrigan; now she's facing the fact that her chappy parenting drove Morrigan away.

Even in a non-Kieran universe, Flemeth is forced to see how she drove Morrigan away.

Flemeth was hurt by Morrigan's words...I suspect she was suprised at how far Morrigan's mistaken fears had affected her judgement.

Morrigan also seemed to catch herself at the end when she shouted "Wait!"

In defense of Flemeth, she is a goddess she sees and knows things Morrigan cannot even concieve. Who knows why she did not turn back to embrace her daughter?

That whole plotline is leading somewhere sorrowful.
