Lol you mean this isn't accurate? XD That's what my mind immediately went to when I saw this on youtube.
I mostly came in to tell you all, because I know you care so much, that I laugh at this being called a "romance" every single time, lol.
It's "accurate" in that both Iron Bull's romance and Fifty Shades of Grey both depict some form of BDSM.
The same way Dorian and Corypheus both depict Tevinter Mages.
Two very, very different things.
I still prefer Iron Bull's romance to any of the others. Dorian's is probably next on my list, but Bull still tops. Pun completely intended. It's different, but it's no less valid because of it's differences.

Lol none of them are invalid, though I don't mind saying I look down on a lot of them here. I have a hard time taking this concept seriously... that's just me, though.
But then, all of them pale in comparison to dat CASS in my book, so ![]()

Starting off with comparing it to 50 shades of Grey (which is the worst comparison to make) isn't a great start
Particularly when you haven't even played the romance to start with. ._.
It's like me saying Dragon Age and Dragon Quest 8 are strongly alike because you fight dragons in them.

Question for you Iron Bull fans out there. I'm planning a second playthrough of the game, and I would like to use Bull more often this time around. In my first go through he was never in the party because, frankly, he absorbs damage like tissue paper. I have a feeling that I gave him incorrect specs or something, but everytime we would go out on an adventure, all I could hear was Cassandra shouting, "Hang on Bull!"
Any tips on how to improve his damage absorption early on so that he is a viable party member?
Edit: I just realized that I posted this in the Iron Bull romance thread. I'm sorry
I thought this was the general Iron Bull thread. If any of you have answers, though, they'd still be appreciated.

All I can say is, at least Iron Bull doesn't leave you in a pile of hay in a barn, or you know...leave you entirely. >_> YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
He's actually a really take it easy no drama romance overall, so that's a definite plus in my books. ♥

Honestly I did manage to use Bull as a 2hder tank on nightmare but it was such a pita (especially haven) it's just easier to make him S&S really.

I would say no, but I'm not a fan of a romance that decides my Inquisitor's personality. If that doesn't matter to you or your Inquisitor happens to fit into the exact role that Bull demands, then that won't be an issue for you.

XD still not as bad as Alistair deciding to dump you in front of everyone after the landsmeet though. Jeez that was ice cold. Especially the non reaction I can just picture everyone else kind of looking away trying not to say anything while the PC has tears in her eyes ![]()

You can give him a sword + shield early on and just build him as a flat out tank, that works really well and was my standard for several playthroughs.
In my current playthrough I had him sword+shield tank until I got some +guard on hit gear, now he is 2h reaver tank and is an absolute beast on the battlefield. If you don't want him as main tank, you can just plug him in with some guard on hit gear (fade touched obsidian masterwork stuff will be your best friend forever), and then he just builds guard as he obliterates everyone and basically never dies. Give him a few skills from the vanguard tree so that he can build a bunch of guard early on and you wont have any problems keeping him up!

My solution was to play a tank, but truthfully you can take him sword 'n board for yourself. He does work really well, even if (imho) he loses some of his flavor. Funny how both Qunari we've seen prefer two-handed weapons.
Anyhow I've been crafting him gear that has a lot of constitution. Drakestone and Summerstone are good ones to start with as Tier One metals. The former is all over the southern part of the Hinterlands, and the latter is all over The Fallow Mire. A couple of really nice 2H weapons you can get him early on is from the Spirit of the Lake quest (where you leave an offering of blood lotus) and the next really good one comes from the leader of the Avvar in the Fallow Mire. For upgrades to the weapon, go for constitution as well as probably staggering and/or critical hit. I've also been using items like Cotton/Luxurious Cutton for the +Health and +Healing. A life-stealing ring also helps a bit too, since it will give him something back. It isn't really important though, since a belt of health can add to his HP total and have him take some more hits. A belt of guard does also work well.
I wouldn't worry as much about strength with the gear, since he ends up getting plenty of strength bonuses from the 2H tree. Still, try to go for balanced stats when you get the metals for it, the stuff with both +strength and +constitution.
If you've got the Masterwork mats for it, crafting nice armor with Guard on Hit can help him survive. Personally, I like saving that for my mages, but it can work for Bull as well. Note: I usually find 2 per game and no more, so choose wisely. They are very rare, and I know Fade Touched Iron can have that as a bonus. Not always though, so heads up.
Finally, make sure to at least upgrade your healing potions and your regeneration potions. Even if you ignore all the other potion/tonic/grenade upgrades, try to get those done. It makes a huge difference and you can buy both the elfroot and the blood lotus from the vendor in the Crossroads.
I hope that helps.

He remains a 2H for me.
I beefed up his Constitution stats for health and his Cunning stats for higher chance of critical strikes so he's not fighting as long. His armor and weapon have heal on kill/heal bonus and regain health over time and I think I put a guard on hit on something too. His death is now put off for much longer or he doesn't die at all.
I will say though it's probably easier to make him S&S. I plan to try it in a PT at some point.

Okay guys I've been reading all your comments.
But my HUMAN ROGUE FEMALE INQUISITOR, wants to RIDE THE BULL.
I don't care about the BDSM side of the romance, I really don't. My GF actually has foot fetish, so I've learned to don't pay attention to other peoples fetishes. Right now it's my 6th playthrough, I really liked this game. Not as much as ME2, but it's pretty good.
Romance List:
1- Solas
2- Cullen
3- Josephine
4- Cassandra
5- Sera
But for the first time I have noticed those BIG HORNS... If you catch my meaning ![]()
Actually I'm trying to find out, who's hottest guy...
Bull or Gabe?
