I find the Incisor sniper rifle a real chore.  I went through a phase of trying to make it work on my QFI and just gave up; I've had the challenge sitting at 87% completion for ages.  Perhaps I'll equip it on a turian soldier for a couple of Silver games just to get it over with.

Slap Stability Gear + Consumable and toss on a scope as well. Really help with the kick for more consistent headshots. But to make it 100% steady, slap it on a Turian. Heck, you can even use the Ghost for it. Gun does great dmg too.

  • Overly fragile. Yes, made-of-wet-noodles-and-tissue-paper Drell Vanguard, I'm talking about you! Going down constantly is embarassing more than anything else. And it's not like Pull makes up for it. If / when I play them, I suspect I'm gonna swear at Vorcha characters

Drell Vanguard is one of the most OP characters in the game, but as all the squishy ones, they are much harder to play. So, start with the easy ones until you are good enough to play the Drellguard (by the way, spec him without pull and be sure to put in grenade capacity gear).

  • Guns that don't simply fire and kill stuff but instead have some gimmick that you have to work around: Graal Spike Thrower has been the worst offender so far (given up on it, in fact - Bloodpack mastery can wait), but dishonourable mention must also be made of the Acolyte, Scorpion, Striker and Krysae. Not tried out the Kishock and not planning on doing so either even though the RNG has made it my highest level rare (like, thanks!). Something I've learned: a crap gun is far more deadly to you than your enemies.

Scorpion and Acolyte are awesome guns and I use one of them as side weapons on 99% of my toons. They simply make Phantoms very, very easy targets.

I particularly like the Striker, specially on TGI, but it is me. Krysae was amazing (too much, in fact) before the severe nerf. Now it is crap.

The problem with Graal and Kishock is they are bugged off-host. So, try them when hosting (I particularly like Graal and hate Kishock, but again, it's me).

So other challenge completists: which classes / weapons have had you thinking "never again" once you've done the relevant challenge (or even before)?

Incisor and Raptor - most likely the worst weapons in the game  <_<

The best way to enjoy ME MP variety of characters is being flexible. If your playing style is too "stiff", then youre gonna have problem adapting to different types of characters, and understanding their pros and cons.

Ive seen people using Krogans to shot and barely doing any melee, and even adepts with heavy weapons like Black Widow and Typhoon, barely using powers.

Best advice: experiment with those characters you dont like on bronze, get to know them better and you may get surprised to learn how awesome some of them are to use.

Incisor and Raptor - most likely the worst weapons in the game  <_<

And yet, both can be amazingly effective when the kit is adapted to their quirks.

The Incisor hits pretty hard, so the trick is to make it hit with the whole burst.

The Raptor can dish out impressive DPS, the trick is learning to keep it on target while fanning the trigger.

The only "trick" you need with the Incisor is to aim for the torso and the last shot will hit the head.

Also lack of head knowledge is deadlier than crappy guns of dangerous enemies.

I'd say the Drell (and maybe Volus) are the only truly terrible characters. Many others mentioned in the OP are actually ranging from good to excellent. Like N7 Slayer, very strong and unique character with the unique Phase Disruptor ability - what's not to like? He barely has any similarity with the vanilla human vanguard.

Well, I'm glad you're having a good time reading what we scrubs post on the forums :) All I know is there are characters that die when Reapers sneeze on them, and then there's Drell who dies if he himself sneezes. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if there was a Drell soldier who could focus on weapon damage while staying in cover, but the Drell  characters that we have are pretty weird.

Sounds like you're talking about Quarians, not Drell.

I wouldn't focus on challenges you don't like so early on. Just enjoy the challenges you do enjoy for now. As eventually you'll figure out how to make other things enjoyable, if not for you moods changing as you L2P more.

Reason I'm giving this advice is because a few 200 wave challenges basically sent me on an early break from this game.

FQI...Handles the Incisor just perfectly......Cloak, Sabotage..Aim for the chest..with it's natural kick ..you will get a headshot 80% of the time..Specially against Cerberus/Collectors......I cannot remember the last time I DID NOT get a 20 Headshot medal with it...people dont really like it or use it that much..I love it..Drill/AP rounds...ext mag/High Velocity Barrel

You mean like the Drell infiltrator.

Also, if a Reaper attempts to sneeze on a Drell, said Drell merely sidesteps, and is about 20 metres away before anything can happen.

But seriously though.  Go have a look at the Drell passives.  Not just movement speed, but the weapon, power and headshot damage bonuses.  They're among the best in the game, alongside other top tier characters like the Turian Soldier.  Biotic Charge adds to that damage as well as survivability, as does Tactical Cloak.  Cluster Grenades are a strong contender for being one of the best grenades in the game, and when you remember that they can detonate bioitic explosions (and have an evolution which adds to this damage significantly) and that Reave is an AoE power...can you say "killstreaks in a can"? The Infiltrator also has Recon Mine on a three second cooldown.

Barriers or shields really don't matter that much, because you should be using soft cover and situational awareness to avoid getting caught in situations where enemies can unload on you.  Of course a Drell will die quickly out in the open...but on the higher difficulties, practically everything gets shredded out in the open, regardless of shields and health.  Arguably, on host, speed is much more useful than shields, and the Drell have that in abundance.

Well, Drell should be able to Pull/Lift Kelly Chambers from the collector base.  They share the same visions now (ME3).

I've done some searching, and found that Pull radius is a misnomer, it's an allowance.  For example, an enemy can't dodge it or be affected by it (that's lash).  Like when people say Incinerate hits multiple 1.5 meter targers lol as the guy dodges.  The radius upgrade allows for 2 targets, and in single player, double Pull allows for 4.  This has made me want to play more single player, since I can pull the reapers!  And not deal with the ally primers.

Actually, your post amounts to a pretty strong argument for doing the challenges- it allows you to correct mistaken first impressions of the kits/weapons by actually playing them. For instance-

  •  Yes, made-of-wet-noodles-and-tissue-paper Drell Vanguard, I'm talking about you! Going down constantly is embarassing more than anything else. And it's not like Pull makes up for it.

Drellguard is called "drellgod" for a reason- he's an utter powerhouse. Also surprisingly survivable due to his speed (especially with Adrenaline Module, you can literally sidestep enemy fire) and access to a good amount of Damage Reduction (his dodge, biotic charge).

  • Space ninjas (N7 Slayer / Shadow). Silly, gimmicky, pointless and tainted with the stench of Kai Leng. Why you'd choose an N7 Slayer over a regular human vanguard is beyond me.

Because he has a sword. And he teleports. Oh, and Phase Disruptor is incredibly powerful.

The Acolyte and Scorpion are both really good guns, and the Acolyte in particular is unparalleled as a niche weapon vs Shields/Barriers (so much so that some think of it as a "crutch"). May be the single most used weapon in the game for this reason, especially on Platinum or vs. Cerberus.

Honestly, give some of this stuff a chance, it sounds like the problem is more on your end.

What you say is true. Quite undeniable.

Now let me ask you though: what if there was *nothing* left to sneeze at you? What if, by the time they can sneeze at you, you had launched their sorry ass into orbit, annihilating any opposition in a 5 mile radius, laughed at that, and reached the next spawn before they can even understand what the crap is going on?

Cause you know, that is what being a Drell is like, if you know what you're doing ;)

Someone over here has already given good advices on how to play Drell. If you wish to know more and get on the road to enlightenment, feel free to ask me. I guess I've got some experience with Drell XD You can even add me on Origin if you want, and I'll show you. Can't promise how soon that will happen though, not playing much nowadays.

I'll bite.

I have the adept and vanguard pretty much pegged down. Won't claim I'm good with them... but that's more because I suck, rather than not knowing how to play them. So give me some advice on infiltrator. Because I don't even know where to start with him. With his two brothers, it's easy. Drop Pull and max everything else. The assassin doesn't make it so easy on me, since I don't know even know how to build him. I know I want that 10% bonus speed from fitness, but I don't know what to drop to get it. Likely the last two ranks from TC, since I'm not much of a sniper... other than that, I have no idea.

So if you're willing, give me a few builds. A sniper one and a non sniper one. If it's of any significance, I have all the rares maxed and only missing Venom and Hurricane from URs.

Hmmmm... considering that non sniper drell has grenades, wouldn't grenade capacity make more sense on him? I mean, I know the scanner is not to be undermined, but five extra grenades...

This..

When you do the challenges, you start to learn about the combinations of kits and weapons that are effective.  There are great tips in this thread, but you won't really learn them until you try them out.  Sounds like a L2P issue; besides, only a completionist would care.

I personally don't like Homing Grenades on him (I only spec them at all because you have to put the points somewhere), whereas Geth Scanner is extremely useful (especially for squishy drell, with no Reave or Biotic Charge), but you could certainly go Grenade Gear (or probably better yet, Shocktrooper) if you like and you find it fits your playstyle.
