Everyone else in your paty is automatically assigned an ability so when Cass is Templar and Blackwal is Champion, and i don't knwow what Bull is but im assuming reaver. Regardless to keep things balanced as a warrior then youd have to choose to be a reaver instead of party member specific Trees and such. The Champ sucks anyway. The Line in the sand doesn't work as well as youd like nor does it really hae any applications that are necessary except for having 3 rnged party mebers and a champ drawing a line in the sand, standing back and murdering your foe with arrows, bolts, fireballs, or frozen sharp ice scicles.

And Coles special assassin ability doesn't work as special because its more of a tactic and because its a special its just a tactic you can use once for a tough fight IF you have enough focus. Enough focus bosting gear and abilities youll be rockin and rollin in no time.

I don't like how I am restricted from switching from the higher ability trees like necro to rift mage. I don't care if there is story around it or not.

I agree that it would have been better if, once the Inquisitor unlocked specializations, you could chose them for companions as well. It would give players that don't care for a specific specialization to spec companions into one they do like.

Having a Rift Mage class is really weird, since I think only the Inquisitor should have that power. But then again we technically get two specializations. The first rift powers, then the one we have to learn...so strange.

Well, mages already draw power from the Fade so Rift Mages are probably just drawing the power through the Rift instead of through the Veil or something like that. Definitely not limited to Inquisitor.

Tbh the lore for the Rift Mage is all over the place. It's supposed to be a brand new field of study that Solas has already mastered, but the Inquisitor can master it double quick due to his Mark... Which itself is a vastly more powerful and invasive use of Rift manipulation that doesn't even require one to be a mage.

Not to mention that study of rift manipulation somehow ends up letting someone use spells from a range of schools like Force, Elemental and Primal that didn't require giant rips in reality previously.

This is one of my biggest issues, too, as I went necro not realizing it was going to suck so bad.

And there's already books about it and some training master who shows up in Skyhold, so apparently it's not that new.

As I understand it the Mage Collective have been doing research on the stuff in record time, sacrificing lots of their people in the process. And the trainer has been cramming so much of the knowledge gained that she's forgotten her own name. So, lots of stuff known - enough to use it, anyway - but not a lot of time. And I believe in the timeline of the game it's been a few months since the breach appeared so there's time for some books to be written.

Just saying I do like the Champion a lot. Blackwall with sword and shield when fighting without my guidance never seems to lose health, not to mention die.

He makes Cassandra with 2H seem like a punching bag.
