Poll: "BioWare should give players the option to import the exact design of a previous Inquisitor into a new Dragon Age Inquisition game file."

Basically this conversation:

twitter_zpsyp4cbd6r.png

After which I was directed here, as you can see.

I spent two hours trying to recreate my inquisitor. I failed. He looked ...off. It was bugging me. I don't remember every little thing that I did the first time I created him. And taking screen shots of every little thing is a chore, plus I had no intention of doing it at the time. (He wasn't intended to be one of my favorite designs, but he grew on me a LOT.)

I really want to replay this Inquisitor but with a different world state. I'd like to make a new game, copying/importing the exact design of my previous Inquisitor.

The CC is so much more advanced now. It's very hard to recreate an Inquisitor...

edit: I'm on PS4 btw, so I'm hoping this option is available to all consoles.

Edit #2: Apparently we are not the only ones requesting this. This is high demand:

I want this soo bad. Now whenever I make a new inquisitor I make sure to leave a save at the very beginning. Unfortunately, my first several quizzies I can't go replay, and I would LOVE to. It would be nice too because you could play the same quizzie with different classes, mage, warrior, ect.

I want it, as well, and if it's not included into the next patch, I'm gonna be so royally... angry. I tried recreating my elf yesterday several times, over and over again but never got it right. There was always something off. The first version is perfect for me and not being able to use it is truly frustrating. <_<

I want this too. I got very close but it was still off with my second character. My first one the side burns from my beard have a gap between them and the skin, so at least it sounds like I'll hopefully be able to fix that with the emporium update.

This sounds like my experience. I tried recreating my inquisitor yesterday - I spent TWO hours doing this, staring at screen shots of him (in game, not in CC) from every angle, trying to match up every detail. Once I got the recreation into the game/cinematics - he was all wrong. I was so annoyed.

Two hours - wasted. The CC for doing that wasn't even fun - I was just painstakingly tweaking every facial feature and getting frustrated. What's worse is that I KNOW there's some kinda code floating over my inquisitor's face, telling the program how to make him look for each scene. ALL I need is an option to import that code into a new DAI game. It sounds like the absolute simplest thing that would take one second of my time vs. two hours. (I'm on PS4, by the way. So I would hope this option is available to all consoles.)

I never needed this before with previous Dragon Age games because the CC in those was so simple that you could memorize it.

I love the DAI CC but it is near impossible to recreate without taking screenshot upon screenshot upon screenshot which, quite frankly, is inconvenient and not always a guarantee of creating an exact replica.

I went ahead and added in a poll if you guys want to vote on it. I figured that would make feedback appear more efficient.

I spent 2 hours in order to make my 2nd inquisitor look like the previous one.. and then, after I started the game, I just realized that I forgot to change the eyebrows! xD

It would be a nice feature but I don't think the DA series uses the face codes like Mass Effect.  If they did, Bioware would have released that feature, but I think the CC is a bit more complex.  Just IMHO though.

My suggestion is to take a screenshot of the CC just before you name your character.  That way you have a template to work off of should you need to restart again.  Some people go as far as to create an imgur album with full sliders but I found that to be slightly counter productive, at least for me, I found it tricky to recreate the exact same face even staring at sliders.

A face save/import feature is the first feature on my "wanted" list. Even before the option to wear my armor in Skyhold.

This is the same situation with DAO after the Witch Hunt DLC. At that time, gamers wanted a DAO2, import their savegame, their Warden and choices made.

What happened........Bioware decided to start a totally new game, DA2, new character Hawke, and your savegame from DAO, your Warden and choices amounted to almost nothing, no Warden either in DA2 and Witch Hunt meant nothing!!!!

DAI......we have our Inquisitor. Many love their character and now want to be able to import him or her into the next Dragon Age game, say DA4.

What will most likely happen......Bioware will allow you to choose what you did in DAI using The Keep, and import those selections to DA4. Your Inquisitor character will not be used at all and a totally new character will be created. You won't even see your Inquisitor in DA4, only hear he or she are off on some adventure.......like the Warden (DAO) with DAI.

This is what will happen with the next Dragon Age game.

It's must simpler and takes less time to start a totally new character and import your choices made from DAO, DA2 and DAI, than using your Warden, Hawke or Inquisitor in the next Dragon Age game. Way too many variables, would be extremely complex and imagine all the bugs.....

From Bioware's perspective, they need to make money, big profits, so we all get the next Dragon Age game.

If it takes too long to program DA4, say 5 years, its too long. If it takes only 1.5 to 2 years, too short and not enough time to develop the game properly, just like DA2.

If Bioware was going to allow a savegame import using your main character, and choices made, they would of done so with DAO -> DAO2.

You have to ask yourself, what will take Bioware less time, simpler to do and make more money? Use your previous main character and choices made or start a new character from scratch and just select some things you did in the previous game?

I'm just talking about importing the inquisitor into a new game file for DAI!

What's REALLY interesting is that this card can be extracted from the game files:

tumblr_njlcviZ9aY1u6rlcwo1_r1_540.jpg

And is called 'Import Character'. And it's bundled in with all the other Chargen cards (like Qunari, Lavellan, Trevelyan, Cadash, Warrior, Rogue, etc.) Has anyone seen it in game? Is it something for the future, or something that was cut? Whyyyyyy Bioware, whyyyyyy?

I wonder if it has something do to with importing an Inquisitor from the Keep since they already have that capability (ie, importing a character/world state from the Keep, not importing an Inquisitor, mind), but I've not seen any reference to that at all. It does make me curious.

I must admit this isn't something I would personally use (for some bizarre reason all my characters from Origins, 2 and Inquisition always end up looking the same whenever I start a new character) - but I do think it would be a great extra feature for people who really get attached to their Inky!

I don't think it's about getting attached. It's more of managing to create an excellent face base or a full character, especially since faces so often look good in character creation but end up looking less than good in game and then you have to start all over gain. Also, using the same face comes important when you're taking pics and video clips because you might want to play differently (class, LI, etc.) with the same character for the reason of getting different kind of clips. It's just something so basic, something that should have been in the game from the start.

Witch Hunt did matter, it gave more content while you looked for Morrigan.

Even if you take a screenshot of every slider set and every color wheel setting, it is almost impossible to recreate a character, because the coordinate pair displayed on color wheel panels is NOT the setting currently applied to the character. It is, instead, the previously selected value.

I'm a huge fan of allowing us to save preset faces as well as a face code system.  The latter really helped when I was taking my Shepard from ME2 to ME3.  I'd find something I'd like, thanks to facesofgaming.com, and plug in that code when it came time to import.  It helped prevent the inevitable goofiness in my poor Shep's looks going from those two games.

I think face codes were a genius idea, and I have no idea why they don't use it for other BioWare games.  If "Face Codes" sound too sci-fi for Dragon Age, then I think they could go with something that sounds more lore appropriate.  In any case, I would love face codes, since it's a feature everyone can take advantage of regardless of platform.  More character creation choices available for all, without modding?  I'll take it.   :)

Something like a face code system or saving some of my looks as a preset would have saved me a lot of rerolling in Origins, that's for sure.

Yeah the color wheel is a bit off.

I'm shocked there isn't an option to preserve your appearance. Seems really weird considering how much attention was given to the CC this time.

The design choices are all over the place.  You can put up new banners, beds, tapestry and other things for Skyhold.  Yet, you don't have the option to wear your armor while you are there, or even get another choice of color besides beige for the stuff you're forced to wear.

There is this amazing CC, where you can change all sorts of cool stuff, like inner and outer iris colors for your eyes, and even an Adam's Apple slider for both genders.  I have a pretty fun time making new characters for the most part.  Yet, the hairstyles are very limited, the lighting is awful yet again (they need to stop doing that,) the textures are sadly rather poor looking (even on high settings,) and many of the eyebrows look like caterpillars high on LSD.

There's no way at release to change appearance (that's coming in the next patch, but it should have been there to start,) and no way to save your appearance as a preset.  No face codes either.

However, I can have 10 beds for the bedroom I'm almost never in unless it's for one of three-four cutscenes that take place there, most of which are from the romances.   And not one choice about my causal clothes, or saving preset faces.  That makes no sense to me.
