Pretty much what the topic title states. I'm curious what YouTube gaming channels you all watch, and if you have any quality ones that you would like to recommend. We could also broaden it to include Twitch streamers and gaming personalities in general.

I'll throw a couple out there.

1. Matt chat: https://www.youtube....user/blacklily8

Dedicated mostly to retro PC games, especially RPG's. Has a lot of interesting interviews with industry veterans like Brian Fargo, Swen Vincke, Richard Garriott, and Chris Avellone.

2. MetalJesusRocks: https://www.youtube....MetalJesusRocks

Don't let the name put you off. It's a gaming channel dedicated mostly to console games, both old and new, as well as the occasional PC title. Very knowledgable, great information on collecting as well as homebrews for systems like the Atari 2600.

What is a gaming channel?

Reviewers like AJ and Total Biscuit are enough for me.

I rarely watch short playthrough videos when I'm stuck in a place/mission in a game.

Hey it's Aribeth! I was thinking of making this thread myself but I felt like maybe it already existed... the thing is I can't say I watch these regularly necessarily but they were kind of the introduction to the idea of gaming channels so here they are Tradechat and Melonie Mac.

Gopher : https://www.youtube....ser/GophersVids

He mostly plays RPG and horror games , I really like his FONV and Skyrim Let's Play.

He tends to roleplay his characters , and he's pretty fun.

My two favorites are Errant Signal and MrBTongue. Both do a job getting into the nitty gritty of mechanics, narrative, theme and the complicated interrelationships between the three, while making everything pretty accessible for non-games crit types. If I had to choose between the two, I'd probably pick Errant Signal; if you compare his video on game violence with MrBTongue's, you'll see that the former's background in game design allows him to have a more in-depth take on the subject. Still, both are highly recommended.

"Gaming channel" is admittedly a fairly broad term. I suppose that could encompase Let's plays, reviewers and critics like AJ and TB, gaming retrospectives like "All Your History Are Belong To Us" (https://www.youtube..../allyourhistory), as well as gaming historians, for lack of a better term.

With a few exceptions, I'm not a big fan of let's plays.

Oh me neither, I was pretty biased about a lot of this until I realized there is so much more going on and you can find all kinds of things.

Oh and Sequelitis

Cry is awesome. Was watching a little bit of his TWD Season 2 playthrough and he really likes Clementine.

Plus this is hilarious

You kidding? Metal Jesus Rocks is an awesome name. Now I get a picture of Jesus rocking it out.

I only watch short playthrough videos if I don't have the game and want to see how it's played. In the case of FrankieonPCin1080p though, he makes his videos actually entertaining with his edits and since it's only the AMRA2/3 and DayZ videos I watch of his, they are videos to be watched since everyone's experiences in those games are different.

And yeah, the reviewers you mentioned are the only reviewers I watch too on their reviews on games. I haven't found any others who don't bore me when reviewing a game and they are quite honest and address the details I always want to know, especially Angry Joe. So many reviews babble on with exaggerations, Angry Joe gets to the points especially when it comes down to an RPG.

Critical/Penguinz0 is my favorite by far. I find him to be genuinely funny and he doesn't force emotion, I've actually only heard him laugh in two of his videos. I was happy that he hit a million subscriptions not too long ago, he deserves it.

TB, Trump and occasionally Jesse Cox.

Used to like Angry Joe, but I unsubbed after his DA:I review. That 'review' was absolute crap... and he barely does any reviews anymore.

vash12349 -- I remember watching his Resident Evil 4 Walkthrough and Hitman Blood Money, and they were both very entertaining. He's usually also quite good at the games he plays.. well except in Blood Money where things don't go as planned but that's the funniest part and the usual quirk about the game.

Jim Sterling -- Usually love the things he writes, his podcasts and Jimquisition, but I really, really, love his Deadly Premonition Let's Play, even if he never finished the game but we share a mutual affection for that game.
