I saw a gamespot article yesterday, it was saying that the next ME might have a multiplayer, after reading it I was very surprised of seeing so much hate for the multiplayer in the comments, especially considering that I got way more value out of the MP than the singleplayer... How can they hate something so beautiful ! >![]()
I had no idea people hated the MP so much...

Here's a thread in the SP forums about the same thing, but with the opposite bent in the OP.
To answer your question, IMO it is ignorant, antisocial neckbeards who hate everything social, who are equating everything that has multiplayer with FPS culture and froth at the mouth even though they don't even have to play it or associate with anyone who does. This despite the fact that ME3MP is not a competitive game at all.
You will notice that most of the arguments about MP "taking resources from Singleplayer" and whatnot are debunked specifically by the seperate teams that worked on both ME3MP and DAMP, but the same anti MP posters persist in their arguments. I suppose they are following the old adage "a lie told often enough becomes the truth".

Because they're dirty scrubs. Simple as that. I actually hate the singleplayer, and the multiplayer alone made the game a billion times more valuable and kept many of us here coming back for more years after release.
After my 2nd SP playthrough, that would've been it for me had it not been for the MP, and there's no way I'd be active on BSN. I can't imagine what would've been if this community never existed.

The funniest part is that some of them said, no one cares about the multiplayer and that nearly nobody played it, yet the community is still quite alive and so is the game.

Let them hate. They are the ones that will be losing out with that ignorant attitude. While the people who give it a chance will be pleasantly surprised with just how great it will be, just like when we all were immediately hooked the first time we played ME3 MP.

Came here to say exactly this, and what do you know? A good friend's back and has said it already
Welcome back!

+1.
I remember when Bioware first announced MP, and I was loathing it. Then when the game was released I played the mp first because I had to wait for a patch for like a month because the game couldn't import my Shepard....it wasn't until like 3 months later that I pried myself from the MP to finally start the SP ![]()

Wow! I didn't even know this was a thing!
I played a lot of MP before completing the SP campaign. There is no way I would have poured as many hours as I have into this game without MP. Also there is no way I would still be playing, years later, repurchasing the game just to play MP again.
These people must have never given it a fair shot.

I was a little cynical about the ME3MP before the game was released... figured it would just be another ill-conceived horde-mode bolted on as an afterthought because every game has to have MP now. What I didn't figure on was that it would be such a fun ill-conceived horde-mode bolt on! ![]()

true like the tomb raider reboot. the multiplayer on that was totally pointless in my opinion and wasn't really interesting at all. course i only tried once but was still confused as to why it was added. lame and unnecessary.

Not having multiplayer would have totally made ME3 have a different lead writer and project lead...
Oh wait no it wouldn't. People would still get the same story except now the game would be lacking a feature that thousands enjoyed. Brilliant!

I can understand every hardcoe ME fan having problems with being forced into ME3MP with this stupid readiness points system
ME1/ME2 players like ME for its SP and fear that they have to deal with the usual BF or Halo kiddies calling each other homosexual and implying previous intercourse with their oponents' mothers. That's what competitive PvP multiplayer does to innocent little boys apparently.
I'd even say I was one of these scared Mass Effect SP fans at first, but after a couple of rounds ME3MP it was obvious that the ME community is better than this and ME3MP keeps me fireing up ME3 to this day.

except that isn't true either. You can get enough EMS for every single ending without touching Multiplayer or DLC. You just have to do more fetch quests, and can't kill off actors who you don't like despite their usefulness and still expect to get the good endings (what? negative consequences in an RPG for bad choices? BS!!!)
I actually like the freedom that MP tying into war assets offers. I can shoot some monsters and engage in all the meat of the story that is actually relevant, getting a good outcome without being forced to explore the bumfuc nebula to pick up the million macguffins of boring or whatever that give me 50 war assets each.

I know, I know, but never the less it felt quite like "U NO WANT PLAY MP? WE HAVE WAYS TO MAKE U [evil laughter]" - which is a pitty cause ME3MP can stand for its own and wouldn't have needed that.
I'd be ok with the same soft connection between SP and MP in ME4, but it should be more transparent and clearly shown as an optional and not mandatory thing. Lots of SP players in ME3 did not get that right and are still hating.

I was drawn to mp because you could play as Krogan. That was the only reason I tried it. I'm not big on mp games.
Now, I almost never play as a Krogan. Something I should remedy...
