As Cillian the Arcane Warrior says running with the party:

"I once dreamed of seeing places like this"

So rather than speeding through the multiplayer maps, I thought I'd take Cillian on a solo sight-seeing tour of the Orlesian Chateau.

There's some really interesting stuff, if only you take a moment to check it out.

Posted below are a few of Cillian's tourist experiences.

- - - - - -

For starters, here is what I'm calling the 'Facepalm statute'  :D

You can find these in several locations, some hidden behind drapes/curtains...

cilpalm.jpg

Another weird one is this lone mural of a lone Seagull... I wonder why this is there?

cilbird.jpg

And there's a Chanters' Board !

Pity it won't dispense quests, there aren't enough things to fetch after all...  B)

cilboard.jpg

Finally, have you see this 'It's over there' statue?

Perhaps it's pointing the way to 'Narnia'...

What have you seen in a corner of the Chateau or Ruins that you find interesting?

Nice finds. I never really tried to just admire the art in these maps unless waiting for teammates to get back into the game. Something I'm always amused by is how nice the box of oranges textures looks.

I want to see Cilian visit the new elven ruins if you are taking requests ). That map has some very pretty things.

I was utterly appalled by seeing a Krogan head trophy (!!!) hanging on the wall. What a shameful end.

Let me guess, Cillian has run ahead of the group who are opening chest doors and getting molested by Revenants?

It has been snowing nice fluffly chicken feather snow today.  Lovely winter day.

Cillian has visited the new Elven Ruins.

As he approaches, he plays a game dancing on the floor tiles, but it doesn't ring the door bell sadly...

cil1.jpg

Further into the ruins there are several Owl or Hawk statues.

They seem to have books on their heads, maybe they know something?

cil2.jpg

Up on the ramparts are two Stags overlooking the scene.

cil3.jpg

Then in the last zone there are these elven archers, in fact six of them round the site...

cil4.jpg

And most intriguingly, all 6, even those at some distance (you can see one on the right here)

are pointing their bows at this dog, hound, or wolf...

You can really only stop to look around when soloing. I did notice some spots in the Orlesian Chateau with identical paintings on the same wall...

Those aren't owl statues. They're owl models working on their posture.

Indeed. And I'm pleased it's Cillian who has the interest.
(because I can solo routine with an Arcane Warrior, I can't do it with all other classes... :P )

Nice job. Say what you like about the repetitive nature of MP, the maps are gorgeous and intricate. Can't wait for the new ones! Biower pls.

Also, I first heard that line in the Orlesian chateau.

"I've always dreamed of seeing places like this"
What, a house? What is he, some kind of elven hobo? I guess he's dalish, so he's more familiar with tents...

Well, he actually is some kind of elven hobo... Living in caravans like some kind of woods pikey was too mainstream, so according to his bio, he lived "apart from his people" while he studied the Arcane Warrior stuff. Presumably, that explains the chainmail jumpsuit as well; nobody around to warn him about it.

Man, gotta confess I love your posts.

You should come with us. My best friend and me are running a Barrier/Stasis focused Keeper & Traps/Survival focused Hunter, and we're duo-ing Perilous AND do the sightseeing. It's not like we roleplay or anything, but luckily higher difficulty forces you not to rush through beautiful place like Black Friday in the Dales. "Oh look at this fireplace; let's see what books they have" is just as frequent as "Barrier pls, mark skirm left thx".

Weekend challenge season in PuGs is HELL for me.

Cillian visits the Tevinter Ruins.

A rather chilly place to visit but the Dragon/Lizard statuary is impressive...

cila.jpg

Thankfully a restful reading lounge is provided...

cilb.jpg

One of the Magister residents has clearly got carried away scribbling on the walls, tsk, tsk...

cilc.jpg

Cillian is not impressed by the standards of the accommodation...

cild.jpg

Though the Tevinter like these statues of this horned creatures.

Reminds Cillian of Venatori helmets, they must like them even more...

Most people think Katari are senseless wyvern-abusers, with a heart of stone and a squishy exterior... but we have a soft inside too.

ART for example is a highly prized skill, hence my Katari turning his hand, well fists, to sculpture.  Here's a Nug-Warrior riding a War Nug, you can see the fine detailing i've managed to get with my maul, capturing the essence of the subject, while teasing out the image locked within the stone.  Perfection:

YDuztEh.jpg?1

Here is a mighty Katari of yore.  It was going well until i got to the arms...  and the horns... and... have i mentioned Mauls aren't exactly a finesse tool?

Hopefully it still evokes the frailty of morality;  as he gazes to the far east, his mind anguished over the conflict of compassion, verses crushing weaker races than don't embrace the Qun.

PBbVTzt.jpg?1

Arse.  This War Nug didn't go well at all.

On Cillian's last visit to the Orlesian Chateau he found some of the Katari's 'work'...

cilx1.jpg

The mount does not look to be having a good time.

Also shown in a state of suffering is this work which left Cillian very confused.

A multi headed creature ripping another creature's head off???

Not as if it has not enough heads of its own...

cilx2.jpg

Also in the flower beds, another lone head,

this one looking decidedly spiky.

cilx3.jpg

At least this deer has been immortalised in one piece,

though it does appear to have expired in a state of surprise...!

cilx4.jpg

This merchant might have clues, it appears to trade in statuary.

Either that or torture equipment.

Actually both descriptions would apply to what Cillian has seen today !  :P

Ahh that's the Qun god of Mercantile Hunting.  You can never have too many heads to sell for good money!

On Cillian's latest vacation to the Orlesian Chateau he thought he would pose with some of the nice

people he met, because it's not just about the scenery.

Here is Cillian with a nice Templar gentlemen, who was pleased

to show Cillian the craftsmanship of his sword.

ciltem1.jpg

These Templars are very proud of their equipment,

this Templar fellow explained his shield design to Cillian.

ciltem2.jpg

One poor Templar had been at the Dwarven ale,

he said his head was ready to explode  :D

ciltem3.jpg

Cillian met a nice dog who kept wanting to lick Cillian's hand  :)

ciltem5.jpg

Cillian wasn't sure what sort of 'dog' this was, but he was just as friendly...  :P

ciltem6.jpg

Finally Cillian met this huge gentlemen who explained how he enjoyed

visiting the Orlesian Chateau. He was amazed by how he could fit through the doors

as he was never convinced he could, but he always managed it.

ciltem7.jpg

The architecture might be nice, but it's the friends you meet along the way that

make your vacation memorable...

Has to be said, Xbox One's new screenshot feature makes it much easier.

I appreciate other gamers had that option already...
