All of my Geth are called 24601 (except hooper who is called 'Hal'), and my QME is called Javert.

 

Some of my Vorcha are called 'Franck', and some 'Ribery'.

 

Awakened Collector is 'Stinky'.

 

DrellGuard is 'Swazey', Drell adept is 'Barisa' (Transleted to English: Stud)

 

 

Salarian Infiltrator is called 'Finally' (guess why)...

 

TGI is 'Tampon' for many, many reasons.

I named a lot of mine after video game characters from other games I like, usually from way back in the day, but in a few cases, more recent.  A few are from movies/shows I love.  The rest are just names I really like and use in lots of games.  In character selection order:

And I know, I know, tl;dr.  There are 39 names here that are from games/movies/shows/songs.  If anyone can name which ones and where they are from, I would be impressed.  Some are very obscure.

All my characters have names that fit their races and cultures. A few are callbacks to names that appear in the series (Kroguard is named "Nakmor Khagon" for example) and others are baseless fabrications.

Due to the poor design of having to rename your characters every time you promoted I stopped caring around N7 240.
For a while I did things like 'hms 3' (human male soldier #3), but then devolved to single character names such as 'a.' Even after they changed the setting to keep names.

My human male engineer, who is my top preferred character, is named Foreman. Oh, and he has gold armor. u c wut i did thar?

On my main account my characters are named after The Ramones (birth and stage names, obviously), people named in Ramones songs, people who worked with the Ramones, people associated in any way, shape or form with the Ramones.  So there's kind of a Ramones theme.

 

On other accounts they're all called Bob.  Every one.  Blackadder aficionados will understand why that's ok for the girls too.

lol All my Geth are called Bob. Except the Juggy he's "Big Bob".

 

My Raider wielding Volus Vanguard is called "The Kneecapper". He's an ex-debt collector for Elkoss Combine.

 

My Krolord is called "HULK SMASH!". (All caps awesomeness.)

They've all got the same name as my tag - easier to become familiar with people when they have set names, rather than different names per character, but that's just me.

I have a soldier named David Mason and an infiltrator named Wei Shen. The rest are named after you weirdos.

My Collector Adept is called ProthyTProthean. And my Geth kits just have binary sequences for names. I can't really remember the names of any others.

I have never seen what you describe. Names are entered at deployment and remain unchanged across promotions. IME.

No one else but you sees the names you give your characters.

 

Probably because Biovar knew that most of BSN would give their characters obscene names.

Originally, promoting reset everything about your characters - Skill Points (obviously), armour customization and their name. And then just to make it even more annoying, your first skill point would be automatically assigned to the top power.

 

That was changed with one of the later patches.
