Okay so I've recently beat dragon age Inquisition. It was amazing. But I can't help but feel that bioware took something away from me in that game. I understand the intentions of the developers. Dorian is by far one of the most complex and realistic characters yet. In my opinion that is. They made a truly fantastic being. I could read a book about Dorian's life. My inquisitor made such a connection with him and he named me his friend. Which is awesome. But I feel left out because my female inquisitor was a female. And Dorian is gay. I feel like the game wasn't as good because I couldn't let my female be with who she clicked with. This isn't just about Dorian. What about if a guy inquisitor felt sera was the one he wanted but couldn't get simply because of gender. Does anyone else feel like they were cheated a great story because of this? I under stand it's a game but I feel it was both an amazing this that bioware did but also a bad thing. Let me know your opinion so I know I'm not alone.

... Dorian's homosexuality is one of the  features of his rebellious attitude towards his father.  He is the antithesis to the model Tevinter citizen, he is openly homosexual, he refuses to get into a marriage and have children and I'm pretty sure he doesn't twirl his moustache and laugh evilly.

If you take away his homosexuality the story makes less sense. He doesn't marry a woman because he doesn't find them attractive and doesn't want to lie about it.

As a female who plays a female Inquisitor, no, I did not feel that way. I was happy to have Dorian as my BFF.

No I don't feel cheated. I would've felt more "cheated" if they made the companions "accessible" to every type of inquisitor.

Indeed. I also made a male Inquisitor so I could romance him. I really like the fact characters have a set sexuality instead of just being open to anything. It allows for deeeper characters and stories for them personally instead of getting generic things which would work for anyone.

I see. I don't disagree with their choice. It's one of the reasons he rocks so hard. Just wish there was more my inquisitor could do with him and his story. Not just romance wise. I feel like he was a lot of awesome pressed into not enough time.

I recently started my play through with a male inquisitor. I don't know if I'll romance him. But if I do Maybe I'll feel like the story is more complete then! He is my favorite character and I want to see if his story goes deeper.

I think my Inquisitor's friendship with Dorian was one of the best, most beautiful relationships I've seen in a Bioware game.  They're tight like Varric and Hawke.  There's no romance, but there's LOVE and trust and it's beautiful <3

Dorian doesn't have to be straight or bi for your character to be in a deep relationship with him.

Players don't like dealing with alternative scenarios. Everything must be as it is in their game.

For God's sake, devs even felt it necessary to declare that Duncan had visited every person in every possible origin but all of them died except for your character because people couldn't wrap their heads around the idea of Duncan going to place A in someone's game and place B in someone else's. No! Impossible! He must have gone to A AND B!

'I wouldn't like that Dorian'

That's what Dorian says when he talks about being turned straight with blood magic. He wouldn't like himself. He wouldn't be himself. Many players that want to romance him with female inquisitors seem to (conveniently) forget that bit even though they like the character a lot. It's unfair to the character.

I was okay with "just" having Dorian's (and Vivienne's, and Sera's) friendships. I feel that all of the emphasis that players place on romance in DA tends to diminish actual friendship into an undervalued commodity.

I thought it was rather cute how your Inquizzy could go to Dorian after the Redcliffe quest and be like " :( you led me on"

My mage!Trevelyan definitely had a bit of a crush on him (he's fabulous and clean and the best person to be stuck in time with) which then turned into the best friendship ever~

Plus I don't see anyone complaining about Solas/Cullen being species-locked or Viv just being locked in general. It's just an aspect of the character - not everyone can be IB running around sticking himself into anything with a hole after he kills a dragon (thinking about it with the greatest respect of course). (Being turned down by Viv hurt though  so much burn in that rejection)

Op, you do understand that the entire reason why Dorian is such a great character is because he does not hide who he really is. And the only reason he is shunned is because he will not fake being straight. If he was straight you would never of met him.

Of all the characters in this game, Dorian's sexuality probably defines him the most. Go over his personal quest and you will see. You should embrace it!

I shouldn't have made this my first topic. Because I now agree with a lot of what's being said. But I can't figure out how to delete this. So let's make it clear. I now agree that he's damn awesome the way he is.

I love Dorian and all my female inquisitors have the best platonic romance with him and that satisfies me.  We get Cullen for the loving where many male players or players of male characters wishes they could have him, it balances out.

Is anyone else disturbed that Cersei is drinking so much in all these gifs?

Now the OP has come around to our side on Dorian, I think that Cersei's drinking problem needs to be addressed next...?

Why does everyone who starts threads like these have no avatar, and only a few posts?

EDIT: As someone who actually has a female friend who got friendzoned by a gay dude, all I have to say is: Well... it happens :3
