The Warden, Daniel Cousland, was the kind of man the Wardens would have likely frowned upon in the beginning. He always tried to help those in need, such as the village of Redcliffe and the mages in the tower, even if it meant hurting the Grey Warden cause or earning the dislike of his companions who were more pragmatic. Unlike Alistair, however, he was sooner to accept the price of being a Grey Warden as the journey went onward. After slaying the Archdemon, he chose to not immediately follow Morrigan, but instead, rebuild the order that once saved his life and granted him purpose.
The Warden's reputation was almost a mystery among his peers. Some said he was holy and blessed by the Maker himself. Others were more suspicious and mistrustful, often questioning the official story they were told about how he managed to kill the Archdemon and survive when not in earshot. Most, however, were simply happy to be in his company and passed the time by asking him questions about his adventures or the significance of the strange ring on his hand. He eventually became Warden Commander and made the choice to sacrifice one of Ferelden's oldest cities to the darkspawn, demonstrating a willingness to do what he must for the order. When it was discovered that he had made a secret deal with an intelligent leader of darkspawn, he was relieved of command despite protesting that it was for the good of the order. This revelation, combined with the order's poor reputation after the fall of Amaranthine, left the Wardens in dire straits.
As a Grey Warden outcast, Daniel struck out on his own, with only his loyal hound at his side. He evntually found his love, Morrigan, in the Dragon Wastes. With no reason to stay, he went through the Mirror with Morrigan hoping to one day meet his son.
Ava Hawke was the kind of person that rebellious mages like Anders could never understand. She was a mage of great power who saw the necessity of the templars and the Circle towers. When she arrived in Kirkwall, she was young and had a drive to prove herself. This often put her at odds with her brother Carver, who saw himself only ever in her shadow. After the loss of her mother to foul magic, she began to see mages as a whole as a threat. She grew angry and vengeful, often siding with Meredith, the Knight Commander of the templar order, against the mages that lived in the city. Her anger and suspicion of her fellow mages was vindicated when Anders destroyed Kirkwall's chantry in a terrorist attack. From then on, she was devoted to Meredith in stopping the mage's plot and putting an end to the rebellion.
When she was eventually betrayed by Meredith, she became distrustful of even her closest friends, save Varric, who always managed to make her laugh. She became Viscount of the city and, if you can believe it, leader of the templar order for a time. Hawke eventually stepped down as Viscount and left the city that was her home for a decade, and the one in which she had gained and lost so much. She never got over her mother's murder at the hands of a madman. It is said that she made her way back to Ferelden looking for one last adventure...
The Inquisitor's story has yet to be written. Some say that he is a brutal leader. Others... that he is a god. But these are just rumors. His story will be revealed... when I play the game. ![]()
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this read and I look forward to reading your stories as well. ![]()
