The extremely hazardous mission with extremely low survivability (Caradoc looking at you :P ) is done.

Everyone made it back. Stuck Legion in the vent. Stuck Garrus with the second team. Mordin took on escort duty. Miranda and Thane joined Shepherd in the final push. To whomever said warp/pull/warp. Thank you. Except I used heavy warp/area reave/unstable warp.

Now if anyone can help with a good (instakill) way to deal with husks, I'll be happy :)  (see happy face)

I use the cain 3 times. Once when encountering the giant flying bug on the collector ship, the scion during the bubble walk and when facing the terminator

I usually use Cain on the Derelict Reaper core and hurr-durr Reaper :D I saw you try using it on Tristan's playthrough and I think you hit the armor of the Reaper. Go for the optics! :P

Last playthrough I had, I used the Grenade Launcher through the entire game. It is surprisingly good, especially on Horizon husk waves ;)

I guess the thing is to download Kasumi. I want to keep Tali and Legion alive so I can have geth/Quarian alliances in ME3. So far, 2/2 with dead man crawling. How do we keep the duct rat alive once they're out of there?

You don't need Kasumi. You can send either Tali or Legion through the pipe and they will always survive provided you use a loyal Garrus, Miranda or Jacob to lead the 2nd fireteam. I always send Tali just to get a unique line of dialogue on it in ME3.

The squadmate you send back with the crew (if you choose to do so) always survives if loyal.

For the finale, I also generally bring them both to fight the Terminator, which will also ensure their survival assuming loyalty. It's also an effective team because the 2 drones are very useful at distracting Scions (in the initial platform fight) as well as Harby and his mooks during the fight, so you can focus on the Reaper for longer. They both also have good firepower and can take out some of the Collector mooks for you (assuming Legion has his Widow and Tali a GPS or Eviscerator). Tali/Kasumi is another good team to take, as Legion is a Mid tier character as far as surviving on the other team and will almost always make it if left unless you get a lot of people killed beforehand and bring a stupid team like Grunt/Garrus. I wouldn't suggest Jack on higher difficulties unless you are comfortable soloing everything, as even though she is one of the more likely characters to die, she is next to useless on Insanity.

Generally, as long as you leave most of your combat focused heavy weapons guys to hold the line (Garrus, Jacob, Zaeed, Grunt etc) everyone survives. The ones most likely to die if you leave them to defend are tech/biotic specialists like Mordin, Kasumi, Tali, Jack etc.

Its easy to survive the suicide mission even with only 8 squadmates. If it wasn't for having to get the ship upgrades from squadmates, everyone can survive with less than 8 squadmates

I use the Collector Beam rifle in those cases mind you I use it against the Scions and flying bug on Horizon as well so in my case I use it 4 times. The only time I tend to use the Cain is to blow Donovan Hock out of the sky in Kasumi's mission

My favorite HW is the Avalanche.  It has blue tubes sticking out of it! (and thus optimized for it's main purpose as decoration...).

For me, its usually, not always, the squadmate that survives fighting the human reaper that pulls me up. I don't know what determines which  squadmate pulls Shepard up. It could be the number of missions that squadmate has been taken on.

I remember seeing a 'permanent' priority list for this at one time, regardless of playthrough. The only details I can recall were that Miranda has a higher priority than most, with Garrus and Thane both being fairly low. Garrus had a higher priority than Thane though. (This was assuming both squaddies survived the final boss fight.)

At the time, I was attempting to record a playthrough in which both Garrus and Miranda went to the Human Reaper. I wanted Garrus and Shepard to pull each other up on the two occasions, and Miranda kept stealing the Normandy pull-up. Switching Miranda for Thane, just to record that last little bit, seemed to work.

Use the Arc thrower. Fair amount of ammo, and you will never fear Husks again...

Its based on the order the player picks the squadmates to go fight the terminator.

The 2 faces that are seen in the bottom middle of the screen indicate which squadmate was chosen first or second. If this squadmate is chosen first, he/she will be on the right and the squadmate chosen second will be on the left. For me, the one on the left will the one to help Shepard onto the Normandy and if only one squadmate survives fighting the terminator, it will be that squadmate and if both die, I have no idea how its determined who helps Shepard

Just replying to show my appreciation for this thread. Wasn't entirely sure via the wiki whether a Miranda plus Samara combo would work, and for my own Vanguard, that's definitely nice to know. Also prefer to bring Miranda for her unique dialogue at a key decision point, natch. Just wasn't sure how her leadership ability would affect the defenses combat strength.

Why wouldn't they work? What were you concerned about?

Miranda and Samara are regularly part of my team when I go fight Arnold.

Edit: Oh, you were worried about the "hold the line" score, yes?

@Cap and Gown: Yes, exactly, the one where it's a REALLY good idea to have Grunt at for the extended squads survivability. Sorry for late reply, been a wee bit sick lately.
