I was trying to figure which proc\stat is the most useful for the barrier\cc Keeper. Any advice?

ps: also, can the barrier crit somehow?

Fury staff imo. Best damage (yes?) and 2% veil strike proc might not sound like lot but with static cage and chain lighting it's lots of hits and lots of shocked enemies, meaning when veil strike procs it puts them to sleep :)

Fury of the Veil for me. Disturbance of spirit + Energy Barrage = self proccing Nightmares.

My vote goes to the Fury of the Veil too. I like smashing things to the ground.

You could go the Mindchill way if you wanted to play a more aggressive-in-the-fray Keeper.

Otherwise, I agree with the 3 previous posts.

I was using blizzards path on all my mages but now I have deathward which works well especially for those moments when the barrier runs low, I might change that should I get a better staff at some point

I haven't been blessed with Fury of the Veil so I'm using Mindchill. It's pretty fun to be surrounded, use Chain Lightning, and get the free Mindblast off the staff. Follow up with Mana Surge (off Barrier) for more CQC fun.

Your staff can trigger off any ability that does damage, so Fade Step + Frost Step can also be amusing when you can zip through several people.

That was my baby prior to getting Fury.

What about Lv21 Sorcerer's Staff? +25 Willpower and on kill: 20 to magic for 10 seconds it's really good for a Keeper, I think.

I actually have Fury of the Veil. I kind of wish the proc was 5%, 1 in 20 would be much nicer than 1 in 50. But maybe that's being greedy.

I'm okay with being greedy, tho'.

The mindchill staff will set off occasional nightmare combos if you play an aggressive sleep centered keeper build.

I'm using the lesser staff with such a proc currently. The thing is, I don't think I can notice the way this proc affects me (if it does at all). One can't time the spells, because it has no indications. In theory I know that after each kill my DPS and barrier has a chance to be boosted, but it does not look like the best choice.

This is the strongest staff I've ever found ( :(  ) but I gotta say it's not bad at all. Throw some HoK attatchments to that thing, add a superb spirit rune, and you've got a nasty piece of wood there. The 2% veil strike owns on the keeper, when used with frost step and chain lightning. You'll find that you knock down enemies quite frequently.

This is the one I have been using ahead of fury and a few other good ones.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what the most powerful staff is in MP? The highest one's I've ever found so far is Fury of the Veil, Mindchill and Sorcerer's.

I seem to get staves quite infrequently, which is funny since I play mostly as mages.

This was awesome on my Ele when I got this. Talk about empowering. But Fury of the Veil suited better longer-term, I found.

Man I really wanted to make some kind of dick joke there, but 'staff' instead of 'rod' kind of spoils it. Bioware pls. Give us a class that uses rods!

That mind blast also detonates? I had no idea.

If you're looking for consistent Nightmare combos, EB + Fury > all.

All known weapons are listed in the weapon spreadsheet. There is no reason to re-invent the wheel when Shadohz has already done so.

Yes it does. It is nice to occasionally get a free combo while fighting.

I agree we need rods. Hard rods, long rods, penetrating rods of fury.

Thanks for this link.

So am I to understand that Fury of the Veil is the most powerful staff that's currently known? In that case, I've acquired 2 now and should probably stop anticipating better staves.

Allow me to quote for you the description of an item from Dungeons & Dragons. I'm going to have to take back what I said about 'staff' not being as funny as 'rod'.

An accurate staff is smooth and straight, balanced for easy handling and made of polished hardwood.
I laugh every time I see that description. It cannot be an accident that it's phrased that way.

Using pyre of the forgotten with 8% health on kill and attack mods. It destroys despair demons and undead.

I have have both Fury and Pyre and IMO, Pyre has some edge over Fury and it can cause burning effect quite frequently due to heavy fire damage. Pyre has also higher attack % with enchantment which might/should transfer to damage of your spells.
