Hello,

 

I just bought the game and started playing it and I noticed that from the beginning, Varric has 2 points in Flank Attack. Is it like that for everyone? And why would they do that?

I play on PC and Varric had Caltrops and Longshot for me when I started out.

Wow thats crazy, is it random how they get their abilities? I also play on PC btw.

I don't think it's random, he's always had caltrops and long shot for me

I'm on PS4 and he had Caltops

Just wondering if you started out as an archer rogue? Perhaps the game does something different so it does not double up on archery rogues at the beginning (even though Varric has no daggers). But also caltrops for me on PC.

Nah, even my elven archer got an archer Varric with Long Shot and Caltrops in the beginning.

i've heard other having this bug. Respec once you get to Haven. Nothing much you can do about it. Give him daggers if you can...

Yeah I did respec after all, pretty weird.

Note: use care when examining Abilities for all characters; real easy to click on something during examination. This may not be the case here, but a factor why I quicksave before every Lvl Up and Respec.

Interesting. I think I got the same issue in my first game. Note that this was a long before all patches.

 

Varric had two skills in daggers, while Solas got 2 points in Barriers. I haven't encountered this ever again.
