Okay I see we both made some errors in what we are referring too.
No I am pretty sure it was just you. I do have to agree with E-ro here and I do think you are stretching a little too hard to find problems. While it would be nice if these items and weapons had more useful applications in the game I do not think it was a fault that they were included, I mean if you think about it they are just another form of junk item (which almost every RPG has) but instead of just being vendor trash the game actually allows you to use them in combat, sure they may be inferior to swords but not everything in a game has to have a practical use, not sure what the problem is here? Would you lament Dragon Age Inquisition for including the sad weapon?
Google how many free DLC The witcher 3 will have.

There are walkthroughs on youtube you could just use them. Starting with the final game of anything is a bad idea.
Are you telling me BioWare's marketing spiel of "Mass Effect 3 is a great starting point" was foolish?

I started with the second one because I'm a console peasant.
It worked out alright for me. I'm looking forward to the third.
I'd brofist you for starting with TW2 but you're a console peasant. I can't stand PC peasants either though.

Get the game. I'm sure you don't have to play any other witcher game because each game tells their own story.
That's not how series with direct sequels work.

It isn't pointless. It is another option. The fact that it is sub optimal is irrelevant. Never before have I heard someone complain about an optional feature in a game. You dont have to use them, you can choose to. Or not.
Ok, other Rpgs. Cool. I am sure that works good in other rpgs, but you are not playing as Geralt in those other rpgs.
It isn't a design flaw. I dont think you even know what "design flaw" even means. Just because something is there and you have zero need to use it does not make it a design flaw. No offence but that is idiotic. Its like complaining food is in the game but there is no eating mechanic.
Think of the weapons as simple vendor trash if it helps.
Really? You have over 900 posts on this forum and you haven't seen anyone complain about an optional feature before?
Are you telling me BioWare's marketing spiel of "Mass Effect 3 is a great starting point" was foolish?
Yes, but that's marketing spiel in general.

Eh, TW2 you could experience without having played the first one, since it had little to nothing to do with the story and what unfolded in TW1.
I wasn't talking about the first Witcher
To OP, if you're planning to start with the first game i would suggest you to do a bit of background check on the world and Geralt, because you might feel a bit lost. The combat in both games is different. Plots are seperated so you don't have to play first game if you don't wish too, although if you're planning to get into the series highly suggest you do.
Calling it mature because of boobs is wrong, yeah it has them. But the reason why franchise is mature because it deals with stuff like violence, torture, racism, politics, power struggle, war, rape etc on a completly different and better level than other games. There are no good/evil characters, everyone you meet is either a ****** or has done something bad. The choices you will be making are pretty much always grey. Unlike most RPGs your character is not some chosen messiah who saves the world from evil and destruction.
A lot of people especially on BSN refuse to play it or even call the game RPG because you play with established and predefined character, which in my opinion is a terrible excuse. By that standard Deus Ex and Planescape Torment are also not RPGs.
I do a fair share of that. That said, the root of the complaint is that CDPR sucks because Geralt can't wield a broomstick or a cudgel with the same power and finesse he wields swords with.
You gotta wonder what CDPR did to ****** these guys off so much? I mean it is ok to not like the Witcher series but it is almost as if a lot of Bioware fans have developed such an irrational hatred for the series they will go out of their way to find reasons to hate on it, I remember there were a bunch of people on these forums trying to make out CDPR was the spawn of Satan for offering free DLC.

It goes both ways, and it remains annoying regardless of which side they're on.
There have been countless threads about the subject that result in both sides attempting to compare the size of a certain appendage.

See... these fans?
Whether they belong to BIoWare
Or whether they belong to CDPR.
They're all a bunch of ****** idiots.

I have no idea why you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, it was side remark to an issue I didn't even state if it was a big or small one. I made a comment based on my own play experience and you just took it upon yourself to take a dump on someone for having an opinion that was different than yours.
If you enjoy the game that is great, I'm happy that you had a good experience. I didn't have a good experience, I didn't like the game, but that does not give you the right to assume I'm being Irrational just because I feel that resources could have been put to better use in a video game - which again, is my opinon.
Also since when did anyone say that free DLC is the Spawn of Satan...... hell I'm actually looking forward to Cyberpunk as it feels like it can give CDProject more creative freedom with the license.

I am not making a mountain out of anything and my comment was an observation of hardcore Bioware fans in general and not just about you specifically, not everything is about you, get over yourself mun.
As for your dislike of the Witcher 2 you have every right to your opinion and nobody is trying to take it away from you, all we said is that your nitpick of CDProjekt allowing Geralt to equip sub-optimal weapons is pretty weak which in all honesty it really is, I mean you would not call out Bioware for including the Sad Weapon so why call out CDProjekt on the matter?
As for people calling free DLC the spawn of Satan I believe that was one of the major points brought up in this thread.

Herby with the authority that the glorious leader of North Vegeteria has granted me, I forbid you all to criticize Bioware and CDproject games. It's an absolute act. Violators shall be exiled, beaten or executed, that depends on my mood! Let the Inquisition begins.
You can skip the first game if you're not able to play it. Skipping the second would be less advised.
I'd do research into the lore and backstory of The Witcher, learning as much as you can. Then watch playthroughs online to pick up the story, get a general idea of whats going on.
Because of how the story is structured, you may end up missing out on some details that will come up in the third game(as will I), but no matter- forum members here can and will help you if you have any questions.
As for whether or not to get the third game, absolutely do so. CD Projekt Red are a wonderful group of developers as far as being generous and mindful of gamers is concerned-as a matter of fact, some have even posted here on the BSN in the past and have answered questions about the Witcher games here. lololol
Top lads.

I forgot about those pesky romances. Only one I ever did was josephines because I heard it had no (cringe worthy) sex scene. And I never posted in the romance section tbh, so I never really saw complaining about them. But fair enough, you are correct, people will complain about ANYTHING as this conversation proves.People complain about optional features all the time. What is romance in BioWare games?
Inquisition has too many shitty side quests and the combat in witcher 2 is awkward and unwieldy.Herby with the authority that the glorious leader of North Vegeteria has granted me, I forbid you all to criticize Bioware and CDproject games. Wow

16 free pieces of dlc, and it's multiplatform.................
color me completely intrigued ![]()
But if he only uses swords why have other weapons in the game. That is a design flaw which really hurts people who have no knowledge of the books.
You can one shot the first boss with the mace stun if you are lucky to proc the effect, that's why you have other weapons. And for some other fun stuff like that.
