I consider Bioware's policy in this regard to be entirely reasonable.Gorath Alpha wrote...

Well I'm having the problem as well, in my Profile information it shows I have DA:O registered (which is CORRECT), but it still blocks me from the DA:O forums.
EDIT:
Okay, n/m... the post I was trying to post on was apparently a locked topic, and it gives the SAME error message regardless of the reason you're not allowed to post.

How long does it take to actually "meet the requirements to post in this forum".
I registered my Mass Effect 2 code hours ago but I'm still waiting.

As soon as the little game Icon under your forum avatar appears, you should be free to post in ME2's restricted forums.

Filtering out the "riff-raff" has nothing to do with it, it's all about controlling the information seen on the official forums. BioWare have made some... controversial decisions lately regarding their management, the quality and content of their games, and their handling of certain political issues, and it seems that rather than actually address these problems, they are far more content to simply silence them by banning users and restricting who can speak and where. It's a silly, immature way to handle the situation.jmwtech wrote...
Or it could be that they want you to register so if you have something bad to say they can suspend you from playing the game.

Going through the Terms of Service, there is absolutely nothing specific that should prevent users from being critical of EA or BioWare, but there are also clauses which state a user may be banned without warning and for reasons beyond what are outlined in the Terms of Service. I suppose if you want to be part of this community, you'll have to think long and hard about just about everything you say.

Wait, are you serious...?
I have to enter my game registration code online to post in a ****ing FORUM?
Unbelievable.
Although the game I came here to discuss - Dragon Age - is legitimately purchased, and even though I registered for this forum less than an hour ago, I am going to immediately delete this account and vow to NEVER play a legitimately purchased BioWare game EVER again.
Whoever made the decision to implement such a strange and alienating policy should be immediately ****canned from BioWare.
EDIT: LMFAO, "account cannot be deleted at this time" - what a fustercluck

I should've known. I know EA does something similar with The Sims--you can't make a forum account without putting in a legitimate, unused serial. In that sense Bioware's a lot less harsher than that, but still... Wouldn't it have been nice to get a notice about this sort of thing as an automated private message, or something? Put it in a FAQ, and one that is visible and easily accessible?
EA, does purchasing used games really make me a bad person?

Wow this is the only place where I have "the requirements" to post apparently, I registered my copy of ME2, and for some reason I just cant post in most forums. What makes it worse is that the forums I CAN post in sometimes say the same thing, "You dont have the requirements". Like just an hour ago I was allowed to post in a forum regarding ME3, now I cant. Argh!

Srry for the pic, but methinks its necessary lol

If you can't respond to this or any other post, just face it - you don't exist. Really. Face it. It's not all that bad. Even though your mom and dad and school and every advertisement you've ever seen tells you that you're the most important person in the world, it's not actually true. You see, in order for Bioware (or any other company that really doesn't give a damn about you... which is pretty much every company in existence) to actually care about your inability to post here, they would have to reap a benefit from their time and expense used to fix this fubar. But there's no benefit. No profit. No enightenment. No warm fuzzies at all. You'd just start posting meaningless (to Bioware) bla bla bla just like 99% of those who actually do exist. Just think... if all the non-existing users were posting here, this thread would rival the Talimancer thread. What a pita that would be for the mods.
Not existing isn't all that bad. I haven't existed for nearly a year, yet most of my questiions, answers, and comments are pretty much eventually covered by those who do, anyway. And I get to spend more time playing games and posting on forums that actually appreciate my input.
So give me a minute while I reconfigure my computer back to the way it was before I oh-so covertly snuck into existence and I'll rejoin you, my brothers and sisters, in non-existent Bioware oblivion. It's not all that bad.

Apparently there are several error conditions without a proper error message of their own that have begun displaying that (wrong) message for themselves.

I cannot post in ANY threads/forums where I have registered my games. Plus how do I post in the ME3 section? This is very annoying to say least. No DA2, ME2 etc for me, and that sucks
