Hmm, I never pegged Iron Bull's romance as 'so popular' at least not Solas or Cullen popular..

I wanted to do a Solas romance, but that would require playing as an emaciated elf for nearly 100 hours. They could at least put some meat on their bones like Sera has.

Couldn't agree more, honestly.

Man, my Dalish was soooooo scrawny. It was hilarious though what-with her being a warrior. They should add some sort of weight feature in the next one.

Solas is just way, way too weird.

Just the thought of him bumping uglies with someone already is unsettling.

I originally wanted to romance Cullen on my first playthrough, but when Iron Bull joined my party, he was an interesting companion and eventually I pursued him instead.

His contradiction of himself following the Qun, and his opinions of freewill was what really got my interest to know more about him.

Ok, so 5 pages in and nobody mentions the real reason The Iron Bull romance is so popular?

Pillowy man-bosoms.

Really, do we need any other reason?

I liked romancing The Iron Bull because it was different from most Bioware romances I've experienced. He's very chill in his approach: not overly emotional, very casual in the aftermath of the sex scenes, hilarious, and yet still very sweet. His first romance scene caught me off guard (my friend and I had a good laugh about it), but I didn't dislike anything about it. Would I have liked more content? Absolutely, but I enjoyed what I was given.

Not to mention the amount of times he gives ya to back out before the relationship starts. Nothing is more sexy than consent

Sorry that scene to start the romance and the one you get right after that cement my love for the man even if by that point some of my Inquisitor's are 'Take me already! How many times I gotta say yes here?'

Iron Bull is a really easy going guy and very easy to romance sure but out of "guy on guy" I would pick Dorian because he's snarky, funny and liked by alot of people and or "girl on guy" I prefer Cullen since he's been through the most hell of all the male picks since he was in DAO and DA 2 dealing with evil crap. Girl on Guy I may try Black wall some time since I do have crazy respect for the guy. Honestly on a whole I see Iron Bull as just a homie as opposed to someone to have a relationship. I would hate to have a relationship with the guy then go see someone else which may make him mad. I was surprised Dorian took a break up well. Sera I think would make you eat a arrow maybe. lol.

Solas: I learned this move from a spirit of knowledge that observed the chambers of a brothel.

Lavellan: o___o

Solas: It was my understanding that it was quite effective.

Agreed. People consistently misread the Fenris romance and even his entire character. Just a few posts ago he was accused of wailing. He does brood, understandably, but he doesn't wail or moan or b!tch or (insert BSN complaint). He is someone coping on a daily basis with extremely severe PTSD. I agree Hawke doesn't fix him; Hawke is simply "there" for him. S/he's there to listen, to kiss and hold (if in a romance), to simply hold his hand or be there (if a friend). As for Fenris fixing himself, well, can you "fix" yourself in that circumstance? I think Fenris will always be broken, and he understands that. It's about learning to cope with it.

It's a shame we didn't see any of that suffering in Bull's friendship or romance arc. We were told he has personal demons and also that he has an extreme fear of actual demons, but this is rarely if ever discussed. So when people praise Bull for being drama-free it's more to do with the lack of good writing. A truly drama-free character would be someone like Josie.

Well I agree with your first paragraph 100%, haha, and I'm glad to see someone else feeling that way about Fenris. <3

I disagree with the second half though...kind of...I sort of feel like all of Bull's issues and fears and the complexities of it are laid out in the text, but it's done too subtlety. I can see it, it's not headcanoning, but damn if you don't have to look hard for it . And I don't mean that as PEOPLR ARE TOO DUMB TO GET IT, but that it actually really has too light of a touch, which is a weird thing for a Bioware character to have because usually, if anything, they're gonna swing to the too heavy handed side of narrative.

He certainly seemed to be nonchalant about the Qunari dreadnought being destroyed. Maybe he's more emotional if his chargers die, I haven't seen it. But his conflict did not impress me. Perhaps in large part because he never seemed conflicted at all. The obvious intention was that he's pulled between the qunari and his chargers, but he never shows any inclination towards siding with the qunari over his new life.

It was a mistake to have the qunari representative be a skinny talkative elf, I think. it should have been a character to reflect the qun. Serious, stoic, authoritative, intimidating.

I haven't romanced him yet, but I imagine his horns make for a great clothing rack.

Grenade belt taking too much space in your inventory? Hang it on his horns. Under things need to dry? Hang it on his horns.

Really, he's a keeper.

Iron Bull is a cool friend, but I've never had any interest in romancing any of my inquisitors with him.

His attitude and behavior is a bit of a turn off in that sexual sense. Plus I don't find him physically appealing. Though he is very amusing - endearing. But his approach to sex is a giant turn off.

The man is so caring he even offers the Inquisitor a safe word. If things ever get too uncomfortable, he/she can say it and Bull will stop immediately.

Appeal is subjective, of course. But aside from that, most criticism I've seen comes from assumption made by those who haven't played his romance arc.

Did we watch the same cutscene? Because I saw a guy barely controlling his anguish. He just watched his homeland go up in smoke, effectively- since he can never go back and will be considered a traitor there. He's very upset about it. But he's not a broody type so he's able to move on.

I think the skinny elf is a Tallis stand-in. It shows, for those who haven't played Mark of the Assassin, that the Qun is not served only by Qunari.

But, all this said, his romance isn't for me. I can't see anything romantic or sexy in hurting and demeaning your partner, even if it's consensual and all for play. Too bad, because otherwise I'd role a Qunari chick for him.

Lol at the safe word. See, that stuff is just way too goofy to me. I didn't play his romance arc but I watched it being played. Didn't interest me. I have an informed opinion.

So that's what you should have said from the start.

There's a great deal of difference between goofy and an approach to sex that can be considered wrong.

I just hope you're aware of the subjectivity there is in ideas like "unappealing" and "goofy". No absolutes here.

What part of "goofy to me" sounds like the poster is unaware of the concept of subjectivity? People are allowed to have opinions.

Bull to me was kind of a turn-off. It's implied to be all BDSM, all the time, which is fine for some, but not to my taste in the slightest.

The rest of the romance could've been the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the whole Dom/sub thing was a huge turn off for me. So, OP, I don't get it either, but I suppose it's largely a matter of taste.

Wat.

He clearly says that's restricted to the bedroom. I understand not liking it we all have preferences after all.
