Why do elves look more freaky than sweet and sexy?
I've always ignored this bit of fluff from the lore.
Elves being universally beautifully always seemed to clash with the setting and mood that Dragon Age had been trying to achieve.

Somebody needs to fix the elven body in DAI. Like DA2, they seem to be way too skinny and have noodle arms. DAO elves were fine. Should've just stuck with them.

I like the elf faces in DA:I (because they look like pretty humans with pointy ears as they should
) I just hate the male elf's smushed upper body(with breasts) and broken arms. Some of the clothes make them look normal, I wish they looked like that all the time.

I’m fairly happy with all the version of Elves DA has given us. I’m in the minority that liked the DA2 version best, it goes DA2 > DAI > DAO for me.
DA2 I liked the high nose bridge and the larger iris of the eye. Gave them a slightly inhuman look.
DAO looked just like scaled down humans with floppy ears slapped on.
DAI happily combined element from both DA2/DAO

They looked good in DA:O.
In DA2 they looked horrible. Like anorectic aliens or whatever.
In DA:I they look good again, allthough a bit on the anorectic side. Their arms, at least.

I think, if the elves would be tall as a human or even taller, that would be good enough

@ TheOgre and Vader20: i agree with you what you said about Qunari
i dont think the elves were more bad in DA2! In DAI there are both forms. (avatar elves and more human looking)
In DA2 i think Fenris and Merril look really good! Sera isnt looking that good.
But take a look in the character editor in DAI! Its easier to create an good looking human than an elve!
Same is for the Qunari in the editor. Iron Bull is looking good. The Qunari Design in DA2 was great too especially the Arishok! Oh i miss this design...
What i REALLY cant understand is why most elves get baldy! (In DA2 i think this was more extreme)
And take a look on the noses-There are a normal form and the avatar form which is straight like they was running through a wall and the nose stayed in the crushed position...
I prefer these one like in the concept! Normal noses, and HAIR!!!! PLEASE GIVE THEM HAIR!!!
I meant they better change something on the eyes than the nose. Or give them other skin tones. More green, blue, golden, dark aso...
But for me isnt it enough that they have the ears, and weaker body? Even the dwarves are looking better now-and they "only" are smaller in size!
Elves should look more like in Animes:
This is what i want that elves should look.Take this Fenris concept for example which is more awesome than the original in DA2:
Elves should look more like in Animes..

No way in hell... I can't agree with you. I don' want Dragon Age to turn into a Final Fantasy wannabe. It was enough for that 80% of modded hairs that come out for games are final fantasy inspired, armors and gear also. Anime is anime. DA has nothing to do with it.
What should elves look like ? Elves should look normal and different at the same time. This why I say that except for the male elves' freaky arms, they are fine. Give us a body mass editing option and it would be super awesome if you don't want your elves to be skinny.
Making and good elf is hard in the CC ? When I first started making faces I thought the same too. If you practice, you will find that creating a beautiful elf female is not hard at all. ![]()
Fenris looked good, but he looks more like and elf from DAI. Merril on the other hand looked like a giant bug... Our current elves are a good mix between DAO and DAI.

No....

The only thing I would say about the elf redesign would be to give the Inquisitor some muscle definition. I realize they're supposed to be lithe, but the Inquisitor looks frail, particularly due to the noodle arms (on both sexes). They can stand a bit more thickness in those limbs but still be lithe, like Sera and Solas.
Aside from this I really do love the elf redesign. Their faces look like a perfect blend of DAO and DA2, to me. I'm really enjoying my Lavellan character.

I believe elves and humans are the same height in game actually.

I much prefer DA2's interpretation of both elves and qunari. In Inqusition they just look like "pretty skinny humans" and "tall humans with horns and really bad hair" respectively. In DA2, they actually looked like different races. They actually looked alien. Were DA2's elves attractive? For the most part, not really. But to me, that doesn't really matter. Instead, by making them clearly not human, they made the world feel more believable and immersive.

Gonna say something on the unpopular side (judging by the looks from this thread anyway) I liked the DA2 elves for the most part the only things that really threw me off where sometimes the noses and the heads being too big if the heads were scaled to the body I wouldn't have a problem with them tbh, though while I do like the more willowy kind of body look for elves at the same time I did feel like my lady elf's arms were too damn skinny but that could just be because of the bad casual outfit since I thought she looked fine in her armor.

The elves are way too gangly and the male elf model has his arms sucked in during conversations and the female elf has them way too spaced out. Seriously they had it down in Origins, I don't see how they keep screwing it up.

You know, if they listen and re-design it for the next DA they're going to get hit with the 'stop redesigning everything already!' complaints. This is really a self-inflicted problem caused by not being self-assured on their design decisions, chopping and changing things causes a dissonance. There's already topics bemoaning the Qunari re-design, the Qun belief changes, the 'humanisation' of them and the lack of variety in terms of views now that everything is all kissy-wissy in favour of promoting equality over conflict.
That's why DA:I is a pretty amazing game if you think of it as an analysis of the life of a DA dev - Origins; Confident, slow burner / 2 - over confident, pushy, radically different when it didn't need to be / Inquisitions - a crisis of faith and an attempt to find their feet again. >_>
4 should be a return to form then. But, yeah on a serious note; whoever the director of the design and writing teams are, he needs to remind them not to chop and change so much.

I have no problems with the elven faces but the body shape could use some work. Perfect example is the elven girl who wakes you up when you first arrive at Haven. The poor thing looked like an elven slave, completely deprived of nutrition during her growth.

I liked the elves in Origins better.
I did too, I see the desire for a redesign, but I really dislike how it was done. One of the reason I give DA2 so much flack.

The only thing that really botheres me about the elves in Inquisition is that their fairly thin extremities make them look like stick-figures at times. They are too thin and look really weak. I don't know really how to pin that down ... but when you awake in Haven and the female elf-servant visits you in the room and questions you about the incident you were involved in ... That elf woman looked like a stick-figure and she behaved like a real slave ... a slave, that has no choice but to give into her role as a slave! And I really did not like that at all.
I just think elves should have more energy to themself and much more pride and be somewhat wild and have an independent vibrancy or charisma ... to them. They should be more alive and less weak or pityful looking. They sometimes look like ... little children that need help for basically everything.
I mean I know that there are a lot of elf-slaves in thedas but that should not alter the elf-physioplogy towards a slave-stereotype ... or change the biological heritage of the thousands of years of elven culture and so on ... Bioware morphed them into a slave-race in Inquisition - it seems to me, at times. Not always, but at times.
I know that I am basically only talking about what I am feeling for them ... but hey, I don't quite know what to make of it. Just that I would change it a bit if I could!

Why do elves look more freaky than sweet and sexy?
Most of them are baldy and since DAII they were more AVATAR like. The nose often is straight...
They need more long hairstyles.
The Humans are looking better than elves in generally.
Why dont they look more human like oldschool?
They could still have weaker body and fine skin but schould look beatiful. (its an old race and the appearences doesnt fit to their former glory)
Isnt it possible to make another difference in appearence? Better make bigger eyes than these straight noses, or eyes that looks more like that of cats or something like that
I like my elf! But he's freaky in a sexy kinda way.
