Cultural appropriation, the biggest joke that many people conveniently forget the punchline of.
That being that the last folks to call for cultural purity and a separation of cultures from mixing, were people all these new fighters of "cultural appropriators" would have stood against.
Claiming that a culture cannot be added upon, changed, or even interacted with another, for fear of that culture losing its "cultural purity" is bigotry, pure and simple. And the biggest joke is that the people who label people bigots the fastest, are also the ones who exposit the most xenophobic, bias, irrational, and downright racist statements of this century.
Like, do any of these people even history? Do they not realize that without "cultural appropriation" everyone would still be living in the stone age? That a culture that does not evolve and change, is not a culture worth living in?
There's a lot of things a person can call a joke. Some funny, some not funny. And to me, claiming to champion culture while simultaneously calling for segregation of culture. Someone who claims they want to protect other cultures from "encroachment" by denying anyone learn anything about said culture unless they already belong to it.
That's nothing but a joke, cause its way too sad if it ain't.
