This is not news for anyone else, i know. But it was news for me.

 

I completed Origins twice, always romanced Leliana.... but just found out yesterday, while going through the game a third time, that there IS actually a personal quest for Leliana and a 3rd level of romantic interaction.

This never occurred when interacting with Leliana naturally, even though I dilligently talk to everyone in the camp at each step of the main quest.

 

So I read the "how-to" and went step by step. Still... no triggering of personal quests. Finally, the only choice left: breaking up with Leliana...

 

I spent my whole evening manipulating Leliana with presents, talking to her, re-visiting the camp over and over.  Giving her presents she hated so that she would not adore the Warden anymore but only show warm interest... then made her presents to that she would adore her again. Then broke up (which was heart-breaking for kittens sake) only to talk to her again to trigger the personal quest.

 

This is insane, mechanical and so utterly mood-killing. I can't RP this love interest anymore after this relationship massacre.

 

BioWare: shame on you for not fixing this issue or at least making it easier for the player to work around it.

Leliana's personal quest is broken in that, if you raise her approval too fast, she won't give her personal quest.  As far as I know, Bioware never fixed it with a patch.  (I am unsure, I've always just used  a personal mod a friend made for me).  There is a mod that fixes her dialogues, including this broken one and adds new scenes for you to enjoy with her.  I think it's open to public (I was in the testing group).

If not, there is ejoslin's ZDF (which can be found on nexus), which fixes her dialogue issues (and a lot of other character's dialogue issues, not just Zevran's), though it doesn't add the scenes luna1124 created for the Leliana mod.

Of course, this presupposes you play on the PC, if you're an XBox or PS user, I apologize as I don't know what, if anything you can do to rectify this issue.

Yeah, I have all 3 DA's on PC. I'll have a look. Sofar i had intended to not use mods (to be in the safe side) but I'm not sure if it can get any worse than what it is at that point (other than blocking progress at all, of course). Mods tend to make me nervous

I'd read about this bug after finishing the game a few times but I'd never encountered it myself. I think maybe because I tend to get a bit of disapproval from Leliana (my wardens tend to be quick to bust out the murder knife which sometimes upsets Leliana) so I don't end up getting high approval too quickly. It did happen to my mam once though, luckily I'd read about the bug and told her to lower Leliana's approval with gifts then the quest triggered. I would just be careful in the future not to get approval from her too fast and it should work fine.

I raisde her approval too fast and never triggered her quest once. Now I just avoid giving her gifts until she mentions the quest

I probably never had any idea this quest existed. Unless you're referring to either the flower or Marjolaine. I knew about those two.

Because Leliana likes to ninja romance my PCs, I avoid her and am able to raise her approval slowly, so I never had problems triggering her quests. 

 

The flower has to do with:

Thanks Ferret...I knew I wasn't remembering the flower correctly. 

 

I second the use of mods. They make my games so much better and so much more the way I like to play them. Plus DAO has so many great mods. Among other things, I like to get Zevran as early as possible and there's a mod for that. I'd be very sad if I couldn't play without mods.

I third the use of mods.  Morrigan Restoration Patch, ejoslin's ZDF, ZevranASAP, Charsen's ZevRing, and IRS-Alistair are all essentials as far as I'm concerned.  (I'd install the other Improved Romance Scene mods, but I have Dialog Tweaks so... yeah.  Kinda out of luck as far as getting more scenes with Zev or Leliana, since I don't want to risk corrupting my saves.)

Generally, it just resets most of the dialogue with Lelianna, giving you a chance to trigger the personal quest again. When you ask why you did come to Ferelden, she will evade the question and eventually tell you that she lied (the next time you go to your camp). Worked perfectly fine for me.

I never have a problem with her personal quest (Marjolaine) . Just raise her approval slowly....i give her a chantry gift just to raise her approval slightly then just wait .

 

I think you have to pick the right dialogue option to get her personal quest. If you get that right , eventually she will talk to you the moment you return to camp and tell you she lied to you.

 

That triggers the quest...at least it did for me becuase the next time we left camp she gets attacked.  Marjolaine sent someone to kill her.

 

You must ask her what she did before coming to Ferelden.

As I recall, you have to get Leliana to tell you that she was a minstrel in Orlais before you raise your approval with her. It just means carefully going through the dialogue choices before any gifts or such.

Oh, in that case, I never had this problem. Which is a bit surprising, because I tended to gain approval with Leliana quite quickly, especially on my final, 100% playthrough.

 

At some point in dialogue, fairly early on, Leliana mentions a flower whose smell reminds her of something (it's been a long time, and details are fuzzy for me.) The flowers can be found in at least two locations, and given to her as a gift.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but don't expect any of the relationships in Dragon Age to end well. Bioware just doesn't do romantic relationships-or at least not well.

 

If you want happy endings for your DAO characters-write DA fanfiction-or read it.Or just put it in your headcanon, like everyone else.

Yes, but she still sends you that letter breaking up with you in Awakenings. You get the girl, but you don't get her for long.Not saying there aren't relationships, they're just not long term ones.

Leliana doesn't break up with warden in Awakening. Plus, in DAI, if she romanced the warden, she talks about being with the warden again when things are over.

If you have any other quests. try doing them and then go from place to place. If you Leliana's approval high enough, it should trigger.

Update:

 

Breaking up worked well. Immediately afterwards the Minstrel dialog triggered.

This lead to Leliana's personal quest and afterwards a development from "We are good friends" to "Let's get physical" in only one dialog block (That's how awesome my Warden is...).

So, it's good for now.

 

Right now i concentrate on taking Shale and Sten on my tours to hear their opinions on humans. Good stuff.

 

The Andrastes Grace i keep in my backpack until i lose some of Leliana's appreciation. For now it's pinned to 100% and wouldn't budge.

LOL, where in that letter did you get 'breaking up with you' from? I cannot fathom how anyone would interpret it as such. Especially after DAI.
