Even the most indie of game developers is still a company, much different than a YouTube channel. The goal is to make a product, which is how they secure their revenue. YouTube channels have little-to-no methods of making money outside of incredibly small YouTube ad revenue.

I was under the impression that a lot of those Youtube celebrities were being paid a heck of a lot of money by Youtube. People like Smosh (whom I know nothing about other than that he was big for a while).

As for myself, I doubt I would, though I might for certain actions. I would certainly throw money at SE for bringing FF XV to the PC if they did and there was some way to give them money.

Actually, Smosh is two guys.

But yeah - the most popular YouTube celebrities can made over a million a year in revenue. http://www.businessi...ars-2014-3?op=1

But given that some of the best channels have editting and production costs, these can still barely scrape by. http://www.businessi...lly-make-2014-2

Regardless, I'm not sure how many of these guys have Patreon account if they are clearly making large sums of money. I mean... given the number of top channels are people doing Minecraft or opening up toys and playing with them (...?...?!), I can't imagine they would even get many supporters. But hey, what do I know?
