I was restraining myself. I said, don't play Origins you won't be able to go back to Inquisition. So I created some characters but was preventing myself from going past Lothering, so that I would not engage the game. Yesterday I kept playing and did the CIrcle of Magi quest. Remembered how the game is amazing, even more than I already know. Each new instalment makes Origins seem even more marvelous. Now I really wanted to go on with my current playthrough in Inquisition but I am unable to do so...

So, don't play Origins. If you ignore how awesome Origins is you can force yourself to enjoy Inquisition. Barely. So, avoid playing Origins at all costs since if you don't you will not be able to play Inquisition again, god knows for how long.

Funny how the whole epicness of Inquisition falls short even when compared to small moments of Origins like Alistair talking to the dog (Barkspawn). Cole mind-raping Dorian isn't as deep as Alistair talking with Morrigan about simple things, they get touchy without supernaturally forcing an obviously sensible subject.

Despite Origins being your average looking man he seduces you in his own special way. Without you or anyone noticing he makes you fall in love and you don't realize it until you are already in his home drinking wine with him, Inquisition is a teenager quarterback that dresses like a stripper and bluntly tells you "lets ****". To each their own.

I really wished DA was a franchise with ups and downs instead of downs and downs and downs and downs... Final Fantasy have ups and downs. Mortal Kombat had ups, lots of downs and then got up again.

But don't you ever forget: If you want to play Inquisition, avoid Origins at all costs.

Did not need to hear this.

But I agree that Origins is infinitely better.

A noble effort, but now that the BSN has cooled down a little bit, grandstanding gripefests are a little passe, and Greetsme and Ortesc did 'em better.

This again. Meh. I'm wrapping up an Origins game right now (reached Golems of Amgarrak), and I'm not nearly as awestruck as the OP still seems to be. It does hold up pretty good, though.

I have to admit those small intimate moments that the player shares with the characters just made Origins feel more alive.

I started replaying Origins in my self assigned task of reading/playing DA things chronologically. It's a great game, lots of fun, but very different from Inquisition. I like both, but for different reasons.

Origins assumes the gamer can think for himself. Inquisition assumes the person playing has an I.Q score of 50. And EA still feels their games are too hard to get into.

"Let's make a thread but I don't have any real my own idea of what so I shall pick most generic topic for people to discuss...but which one shall I pick...Witcher? Straight male gamers? Skyrim? No...I know I shall pick DAO again :D!"

I'm actually capable of differentiating between gaming experiences.

I started the franchise with Origins, and my experience hasn't suffered as a result of it. Just the same, I actually have trouble going through multiple playthroughs of it, because lots of little things can add up to make something incredibly tiresome. So. Much. Brown. Super-long dungeons/tunnels and the wooden combat, and yes the silent protagonist, make it hard for me to revisit the game frequently after going through the second and third. The game has some immense payoffs for me, but it's the getting there that takes me a while.

Preferences are much like opinions everyone has them! I have no problem playing all three DA games. I simply prefer DAI because it has a certain BG1 style in its presentation.

I wish i didnt have to "differentiate" games of the exact same title... Atleast Final Fantasy does it in spin-offs... They didnt call Wrath of Cerberus FF12...

Likewise, when i bought DA:I, i didnt expect to go from a tactical rpg, to a button mashing action game.. Not exactly what i think of when im told "pc experience", or "pc game".. What even make the distinction of it being "a game for pc players, by pc players", if its a cross platform, common, everyday, action-genre title? Unless ofcourse, you know the truth would cost you sales from those pc fans, who helped pave the way for your brand... *shrug...

Origins feels alot like NWN, or a Titan Quest to me.. Inquisition feels, and plays like God of War with a team.. Co-op Assassins Creed.. Nothing like "Dragon Age"...

No. I hit alot of just X, or Square for GoW.. Pretty much all that need be in Inquisition.. GoW was far more difficult actually.. The QTE's take mroe thiought that anything in Inquisition..

Why, did you find GoW, or AC difficult? I sure didnt... The only difficulty ive had in several hundred hours of trudging through Inquisition, is fighting the Red Templars at the final Trebuchet in the defense of Haven on Nightmare.. And thats more just throw as many enemies at them as possible, and call it difficulty.. Nothing strategic about it..

You do know that Titan Quest is categorized as an Action cRPG in the hack and slash variety. So you are saying that DAO is in that category?

when DA2 came out I played it for like two hours and quit. I returned to the game like 6months later and I ended up liking it slightly more than DAO. I just love cross class combos and option to set tactical behavior of companion to such a high level that you almost never have to control them (except hardest fights ofc). I wanted to quit DAI after like 6 hours cos it completely lacks tactical combat settings and tactical camera is a mess. I played DAI for over 200 hours on nightmare and used it like twice...

and for Mortal Kombat? I don't see any ups and downs. 3 was way better than 2 and 4 was comparable to 3 altho I do like 3 better but that's probably cos I won couple school tournaments with my Sub Zero :]

This is the first I've ever seen the game be compared to God of War. I remember my eyes glazing over so hard I was almost blinded when I played GoW. I suppose much of it has to do with how much I hate Kratos.

I've scarcely played either of them. Just enough to know that this comparison is a reach and a half.
