At the point where it is manufactured. The malware is put into the firmware of the hard disk.  Thank you WD, Seagate, Hitachi, Maxtor, etc, and thank you NSA

What  kind of world are we creating?

I find this stuff frustrating and not good.

This is good. I am glad the government is watching all of us.

Stay honest.

Drink the government kool aid? Come now, lets not be juvenile.

If you do nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about. Trying times we live in, I am glad the government is keeping up with technology.

What are you hiding red head?

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

If you didn't know governments were spying on you already then you've got a lot to catch up on.

They'll only find trolling material on my hard-drive, some memes, games and other crap so it's not like I give a damn. They won't have anything illegal on me and their spying is inevitable so EMBRACE IT!

"Honest people have nothing to hide" said no one with any common sense.

Everyone has their secrets, some pure, some filthy.. and you'd prefer not to share them involuntarily with everyone.

I just assume that the NSA is spying on all of us all the time. There should be no exception of privacy. It's unfair and illegal. I think this only rubs the surface of what actually really goes on.

I'm a little surprised there isn't more righteous outrage in this thread.

I mean, I don't really care.  My sad laptop is probably too old to be a threat anyways.

My PS4 though.... Glad I didn't get the spyboxOne, with it's creepy always watching camera.

(joking - not starting a console war.  I still love my 360 very, very much)

Having nothing to hide does not mean you should be so willing to give up your privacy.

Just because you don't have nothing to hide. Doesn't mean your willing to give up your privacy. It's not that people aren't outraged. It's been going on for so long at the highest levels of government. People don't really feel they can change the outcome. It is a little odd though. If next dragon age game was priced at 200. People would be almost foaming at the mouth upset.

NSA looking through your emails, and listening to your phone calls. Not so much.

Well, the simple truth is that a lot of people that have nothing to hide are willing to give up their privacy. Simply because the government says they will keep you safe if you do so. Not realizing that no matter that the government does, they can never keep you safe and you will never be 100% safe. The government not trying to keep you safe, the government is simply trying to find info on you that they can use to control you.

Im surprised at you guys.

Nothing on the internet is private. Posts, emails you send, things you download, etc. Think of your hard drive as public domain.

You still have privacy, just not on the internet.

Also, do you really expect the governments of the world to not use such a powerful tool to watch people? I am all for it.

I agree.

There are some company's who are taking a stand. Normally if you get arrested or in trouble with the law. They can capture your phone with a court order or by requesting the information from the carrier. They can unlock your phone. A i phone is coming out with an encryption technology. That even Apple can't unlock even if it wanted to by a court order. Only the owner can.

Why is that important. Normally they can raid your phone easily. This may actually be the first small steps to company's taking a stand and in the future. Hopefully they'll add even more encryption devices for computers etc. It's going to be up to big business to offer these protective services to their customers. Here's an article on the i phone encryption.

I wouldn't say "spying" so much as "lurking and taking notes." Hmm... I may have said too much.
