So much hate.

I played yesterday with this cocky AW who said "I don't do chest, I got everything I need", so he ran off to try and solo the whole thing (like AW typically do), he didnt revive any teamates and ended up getting downed at the end anyway cause he's a loser.
You should probably stop stalking him, then.
never stopping or backtracking to open side doors.
sorry, but WHY would you want to open those doors?
Get a low level item ??
or a few coins ??
.... over losing time which would yield more by completing the mission.

1) I got a purple item the other day from a chest. The other items I get I cash in for components.
2) One treasure room with 2 or 3 pots = a golden nug of the value of completing a wave challenge.
3) You honestly lose very minimal time by doing this. 4 people can take down a chest room boss easily and clear the pots in a very short period of time.
You lose time in levels by not efficiently being a 4 player team and that includes one or two people running ahead.

Oh, and while I'm here, "I got a purple item . . ." is somewhat ambiguous, no? I get lots of "purple" items that turn out to be runes or lowbie uniques destined for the salvage heap. Now, if you got a usable upgrade then that is a different story. But even if you did, I don't see how it applies. Somebody wins the Powerball too, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to waste my money buying lottery tickets.

Have you ever won powerball without buying a ticket? If every lottery ticket you bought you were guaranteed to win something would you buy that ticket?
As for your fix. You lose time in levels by not sticking together period. Not only that you increases the chance for outright team wipes which suddenly total cripples the old 'speed games are more efficient' factor.
Don't need the slow slugs that stop for pots or treasure? No problem, solo. The one thing I've never heard is the people running ahead complaining about getting all the loot and money the slow pokes get for them. I have a feeling that all the speed runners of the world might change their behaviour if loot was not shared.
In the end it's all good. Just in lobby or in room one say. 'Hey team! I'm not stopping to get anything at all so don't slow the team down by picking up pots or chest rooms.' That way the person wanting to do so can just leave the game.

That's the big thing, I think. The one good thing I will admit has come from all the forum arguing over this topic is that I have gotten better about letting people who join my games know that I don't intend to stop for most doors. Communication is the key.

If only reality worked that way; unfortunately, you claiming it--even with the force of 'period' to back it up--doesn't make it true. I'm not sure that you and I have the same meaning in mind when we use the word 'factor', but for this it doesn't matter anyway. I skip the chests because I have most of what I want and I just can't be bothered.

Or, I could just keep playing how I like. In my experience, it's the pissed off loot chasers that end up raging into the mic. It is only when one of you can't clean up your own mess in the "treasure" room that it possibly becomes an issue.

Nah, listening to you guys rage is too much fun. I especially love when one of you tries to teach me a lesson by running ahead and aggroing everything--in effect just making the clear happen that much quicker. Go Teamwork!

XP > Gold
The more you play, the more this fact becomes evident. Besides you still get decent Gold/minute rates by speedrunning anyway, not to mention that it gets you to play with better players too. I've seen my amount of earned Gold going up pretty fast after I had started playing mostly with people who ignore doors - I am talking about going from 250k to 1 million in a matter of few weeks.
I understand your point of view and agree that speed running is better for you but with your gold earned I would expect you to be playing with like minded friends? Also, I bet I am not the only one with lots of gold earned and bad luck on RNG. To each his own in this debate. How many people over 250k do treasure rooms?
How many over 500k earned?
How many over a million?
I'm over a million and I say no to salvage rooms.
So, while I agree with Beerfish, I see what most of you are talking about. I don't think 90 seconds per room is a bad tradeoff for 110 gold, but I guess I can follow some of the logic.
So, I'll play and try to open doors, but if no one goes after them, I'll just let it go.
Hey. If you ever really want to annoy them. Take in a necromancer and wait until you get a revenant or Arcane horror and use the spirit possession ability on it and kill it. If they haven't killed everything else in the level by then it will sit around and keep the chest locked for another 30 seconds or so until the spirit possession timer wears off and it dies.
I am in over 1000K+ "club" and (most of the time) open treasure rooms.
I like to break run and gun routine.

Bah, even you? What is the problem with BSN? People should forego all doors!
XP > Gold > Items
If you play enough, you'll realize this is the reason why people skip doors.
On routine, you'd be wasting your time trying to get any urn. The gold is so bad and doors are just making it worst for the time invested.
On Threatening, the XP/Gold ratio is pretty interesting and with the right equipment you'll go thru doors so fast it won't matter if you open them or not. Personally, I usually open every doors and get every urn on Threatening, but I'll adapt to whoever I play with, I don't mind getting or skipping them.
On Perilous, the XP/Gold ratio is pretty much the same as on Threatening as long as you don't open any doors except for the freebies and don't get out of your way to get urns. If you stop for anything not on your way, you'd better just go Threatening otherwise it's simply not worth it. Clearing Perilous the fastest you can is key to being efficient, if you open doors and take urns, you'd get more XP and Gold on Threatening which means you're wasting your time.
And for those saying you can get items from doors I'll say so what? Another level 4 unique daggers? Another level 6 Ferelden Office Longbow? Another Mercenary Blade that is even worst than the free Inquisition Sword? Except 1 or 2 items from each weapon category, the 100s of other items are simply worthless.
The chance you win the lottery from a door chest is so low I categorize it as a pipe dream. You'd be much better to get gold from those chests. Let's compare numbers. You invest 45 to 60 seconds to open a door chest which will give you less than 0.1% of having 1 useful item. Or, you can invest 5 seconds in the store to by a large chest that will yield 10 items with the same "less than 0.1% chance of being useful". At least with the store chest your odds are now less than 1% (10 x 0.1%) and you get more XP/hours which is much more beneficial in end game.
Every time I see an item drops from a door chest, I feel like I lost the lottery, at least gold could have been useful in the long run, items are just scraps that I'll need to manually salvage which waste my time even further...
As long as the loot system will remain as it is, there's no reason whatsoever to want an item once you get something decent for Perilous. With no incentive, why would players waste their time on doors?
Play your way. I have no problem with that. But this^^^ comment is pretty bold.by speedrunning anyway, not to mention that it gets you to play with better players too.

Yes,but if a group ignores treasure rooms,I go with the flow.Anything else leads to frustration and (possible) mission failed screen.
