I just started using spirit blade and assumed as an activated ability like shield wall that upon activation it would stay active until either mana runs out, a different spell or item is used or the target is killed. Instead I have found that it gives between 1 and 3 hits and then deactivates itself.
Is this normal behavior? Do you have to spam the ability by continually hitting the hotkey? Is it the same in tactical mode and not? I normally fight in tactical mode.

I'd be interested in hearing this, too. Mine always ran out about the same time. Towards the end I just spammed it constantly. Do you have the problem where your KE turns the completely wrong direction to hit because of the animation? Maybe that's a PC M&KB problem.
You either have to repeatedly hit the key or hold it down to keep attacking with spirit blade.
You need to keep up using the blade. The more powerful staff the more shield you get.
This one would really need autoattack, similar to what is planner for regular attach for next patch.
