So they decided to go PC by changing the desire demon but introducing actually nude romance scenes?

Indeed, good point.

And yeah it's dumb and boring, I console myself by saying they are considerably less PC than any variety of other games though.

Seriously, people, it's a friggin' statue! It's NOT a Desire demon! It is completely independent of political correctness! It should in no way be compared to characters. You don't even interact with it; it's purely a graphical thing.

O no, you don't get to stare at sexually demeaning animations of women. *super hard eye roll*

Imagine the epic meltdowns we would have seen on the forums if the desire demon model had been changed into an equally sexualized male form.

Dude. I've wanted male desire demons from day one of DAO. For real. Dorian mentions one. He mentions silks. Bet he was Hawt. Or maybe just looked exactly like Dorian.

I'm straight but. Well. Dorian's butt.

Don't know if anyone notice this during the fade ?

Desire demon statue on the background reveals her nipples are now slit, no more erotic fondle,no nipples no censorship.

Just put a sheet over the rest, you won't know the difference.

oh here we go... by some people's standards these days, brushing one's hair could be considered demeaning.

You are likely having trouble gettin this because women are valued for their bodies/sex by society and men are not. It doesn't transfer well across genders.

So, while having a male desire demon grab his crotch while talking to you wouldn't bother me or you much... A female desire demon groping herself could be considered really dumb to the ladies.

Know what I'm saying?

An H.R. Giger nipple clamp demoness personifying sexual desire is a bit different from hair brushing.

I thought that this was a law/statute before I realized that it was a sculpture/statue.  Never the less, I'm intrigued on how we got to such an unplayable state.  This game has ZERO replayability and it's NOT fixed for millions of players.  Count yourself "lucky" that you got to play this POS game.

Oh, men are valued for their bodies, just in a different way. Just look at some action movies or superhero comics, and you'll see women in revealing clothes and sexualized and often demeaning situations, while the men are muscle monsters in tight spandex who are in control of things.

Both are harmful and insidious ideals (and I use that term very loosely), but they're very different in the damage they do.

The hyperbole is strong in this one.

They are different in the damage because they truely ARE two different things entirely. It's the same old 'men are sexualized in comics too' argument which is a falicy. Men are idealized.

An ideal is something to aspire to. An object is something to be used. There is the difference.

Hm. Sexual idealization vs sexual objectification, you mean?

EDIT: Please note that I wasn't trying to say earlier that men and women are treated equally in superhero comics and action movies. The women clearly have it worse.

But with men it's not really about sex. Men are never objects because we deny the 'female gaze.' So to speak. We don't see their POV so men aren't rendered into objects.

Anyway. We're getting OT. But what you and I consider demeaning and what ladies see as demeaning are often (and should) be different. Different is fine.

I may tend to over exaggerate, but who really would've really guessed that I'd be the one the one to blow the whistle upon myself.  I do use hyperbole for effect.  I should be publicly flogged for excessive usage of adjectives alone.

This page is getting weird.  As long as we can still talk about people's naked bodies, I think we're okay......and selling blue pills.

Objectification isn't the only type of sexualization, though.

So nipples, huh?

If this discussion turns towards Tali's sweat again, I am going to leave... again.

It feels weird, being "there" for Kotaku news stories.

It's a bad kind though. And a little insulting. That was the point. Brushing your hair isn't insulting. Naked nipple clamp demons groping their boobs for seemingly no reason (with no male equivalent) could be seen as unessicary and demeaning.

I wasn't bothered but that's nither here not there.

Nobody is asking you to agree. But at least you can't scrTch your head in befuddlement now, right?
