Yes, you will have to. I did the same and I regret nothing. Sheps and Kaidans romance arc is so ****** beautiful.

However, if it's possible break up with Miranda during ME2 already, you'll thank me later ^_^

No, you do not need to break up with Miranda. No romance is set until the "lock-in" scene with any NPC. Therefore, if you have lunch with Kaidan and "lock-in" with him before meeting with Miranda in the apartment, then the dialogue with Miranda will happen as if you had never been in a relationship with her at all. You can even tell Miranda during your first meeting with her on the dock that you want to continue the relationship and then go on to lock-in Kaidan.

Call me a jerk, but it makes me want to cheat on her just to see the reaction. Particularly if she only comes out with the regular conversation if you don't bring it up.

That's what replays are for!

Oh wow, it's interesting you can keep it going with the 2. I thought in order to trigger Kaidan's flirting you need to have no other relationships going, but that's wrong then I guess ^_^

The only trigger for Kaidan's flirting is buying him the bottle at the hospital.

The thing is I didn't. I never gave him the bottle (didn't even know about it until a few days ago, hahaha). And still he wanted to be with my Shep. So I think something else triggered his romance arc in my game, but what, I don't know.

Really? I always thought it was only the bottle. In my current playthrough, I didnt buy him the bottle (for the first time ever) and he didnt flirt with me. Maybe because I'm renegade (also for the first time).

No, you do not have to break up with Miranda. You can affirm the relationship with her on the Citadel the first time, then start romancing Kaidan.

It will be overridden, and Miranda will treat you as a friend rather than an LI.
