I'm going to make this short. Gaxkang's not really dead according to the wiki, Xebenkeck described as "undying" and Imshael calls upon both during battle. Possible that none are truly dead?

Well, going by what Solas says about his Spirit of Wisdom friend, killing spirits isn't as simple as putting a sword through them.

Didn't solas said something among that lines that slained spirit (i guess that concerns demons as well) can reborn in the fade but they aren't same being anymore?

I don't think any of the elder ones we "slain" in this games are really dead tbh

Hmm so DA:V involves the four forbidden ones and nightmare invading thadas at the heads of multiple demon armies while revealing that the maker's absence, the fall of the old gods, the banishment of the elven gods and the forgotten ones was all part of their plan?

Gotta say, I like the idea of the Forbidden Ones going all Four Horsemen on us.

As other's said a spirit/ demon that's been "killed" will revert into a wisp/wraith and slowly grow to how they once were - or close to it.
In the case of these 4 I guess they are closer to themselve due to their great power, but just weakened
