Links pls.

If that's true it's crap. Nobody said anything about Morrigan, Ashley, Bastila, or Dawn Star mods.

It is true and I understand people complaining. I loved it because I was almost learning to mod to make it myself, tried to change my saves to romance her but failed miserably. So I loved the mod. But it is kind of wrong...

You shouldn't "humanize" this stuff in general. I think a lot of people would be pissed if someone made Dorian bi or straight.

Think about the (imo) misguided issues many had with Kaidan and Anders - It's all parallel universes, not revoking people of their sexual identity out of bigotry.

P.S.: I mean, people do a lot of messed up sh*t out of just bigotry, but those aren't necessarily some of them.

So the equal love mod for Origins has 3000 endorsements but the same thing for Cassandra gets people so mad they drive the modder away? Are people bipolar, has the fanbase changed that much, or what's going on?

Quite disgustingly, they have actually driven the author to remove the mod. Bioware's general fanbase is truly quite pathetic these days.

Edit: I found a post on reddit, that linked to a mirror of the .daimod file for the mod, but this inane forum doesn't want to insert the link properly. Just google "The bi Cassandra mod was deleted due to harassment" with "reddit," and it's one of the top search terms.

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

I find it hilarious when people claim that changing the sexuality of a fictional character is a bigotry.

Fictional characters are not people. I didn't start calling people murderers when they chose to wipe out the quarians in ME3, even though I romanced Tali and think the quarians are one of the coolest races in ME.

Go ahead and make everyone bisexual, if you really want to.

I am honestly not sure about this really. I get that some "female" or GIRL players want to romance Cassandra as a female PC but it doesn't make much sense insofar as that Cassandra was written exclusively as a male romance and the dialogue doesn't match up what with the whole "I want a man who sweeps me off my feet" responses from Cassandra. each to their own I guess but even though I disagree with the mod, leave the modder alone seriously, its a fictional character, get over it.

Did not hear about this but if it's true (that people are giving **** to the modder for making a mod) then those people need to chill out or gtfo themselves. It's a game character and everyone is free to view the character the way they like. No one, not even the writers have a monopoly on the character once they've written the story, made the game and sold it off. Just like fanfiction. If I want to write a fanfic about Jamie Lannister being homosexual no one has the right to stop me unless I make money out of it.

Edit:

Just to clarify I understand that people might not agree with another person's views, or get so involved in a character that they personally begin to have strong feelings about anything done to the character, but seriously, if you don't like what you see look away. The Internet is a public place and everyone is free to publish their own content.

i'm always for more diversity, but personally, using mods to change a character's sexuality feels wrong to me, it doesn't matter if they're not a real person.  i've used a lot of mods for DAO and DA2 but i've never touched these sorts of mods before and i doubt i ever will.  if i want to romance a character that isn't available for the gender that i'm playing, i just play the opposite gender.

that said, if someone wants to use these types of mods and it's not really hurting anyone else (really, it's a single player game so it doesn't even affect anyone besides the player), then why shouldn't they be free to?  i don't have to agree with it, but neither do i or anyone else have the right to tell others how to play their game.

i love this fandom, but if there's anything i've learned in the relatively short time that i've been part of it, it's that we all need to be more open-minded and accepting of others' view and not be so quick to attack others, especially when we all love the same thing.

So now we live in a world where instead of remove the harassers we prefer to remove the harassed... sweet!

All my symphaties to the modder: I hope that she and her mod could soon be back.

You know what? I'm done with being PC. It's a noble intention, but it's become perverted in it's nature over the years, thanks to the dumbassary of people. Because people's priorities have become so messed up and selfish, that it's no longer about trying to keep the love. It's about going on witch hunts, and bullying the next person they can find. I've seen "SJWs" get turned on by their own kind so easily and quickly, because they made a comment that others didn't like. We've seen Bioware themselves, people who champion diversity in their games, get turned on by the same people they work hard to make happy.

I'm not out to offend anybody, and nobody should. But we as a society need to stop enabling these Social Justice Bullies, by constantly apologizing to them until they've been satisfied enough to think they've "won" or something.

Whilst I strongly think changing a characters sexuallity to meet your own desires is incredibly wrong, its equally wrong to send harassment to someone who does it.  <_<

First, I understand why some people might find a bi!Cassandra mod offensive, just like I would totally understand why people would find a bi!Dorian mod offensive.

However, while people are entitled to their opinions, labeling the mod maker a rapist is both poor taste and grossly trivializes the reality of rape. (Which is the crux of the harassment and apparently the modder's stated reason for walking away).

Unfortunately, this is another perfect illustration of why so many see Tumblr as a cesspool of misguided, echo-chambered mouth frothing. Gaider also deleted his own Tumblr recently after an extremely toxic vocal minority irrationally decided he supported unhealthy relationships because they disapproved of Bull/Dorian relationship banter.

It's sad that a such a small number of toxic people can magnify their hate so intensely as to drive away the creatives that truly form the foundation of the fandom community. I hope the modder finds peace in her time away from the mob and comes back with the strength to share her works again.

People love to be angry, reasons or not. You can opine why it is dumb or not, but if it upsets you either way maybe a redirection of that emotional energy is in order. Otherwise you just have to sigh and not let it affect you. Life is too short to be burned shorter over such things.

Sad to hear but not surprising. Remember there was umbrage when a modder was trying to mod Traynor romance for males.

Personally i vastly preferred the DA2 approach where LI's were open to romance by everyone.

I just complained about this bullying online yesterday, in the Cassandra thread.

This constant fighting for no relevant reason has become the norm to some people.

I don't consider bullies members of the Bioware fandom, or any fandom whatsoever. They're just using one to excuse their will to harass others.

I see some people saying "I understand why changing Cassandra's sexuality would offend people" and honestly I'm not even gonna agree with that. If the mod said something along the lines of "This is how she should be!" or "Being straight/gay is wrong and it should be this instead." Then fine I understand why that would be offensive. But it could be just as simple as somebody wanting the character to fit their sexuality because of how much they like them. That's it.

Let's no act like some of us haven't met someone in real life that we were attracted to, but then found out they swung the other way. I used to work with a girl who was pretty much a female version of me. We had SO many common interests and we loved each other's company. Then I found out she was gay, and honestly it kinda hurt because I developed quite the crush on her. Now obviously I accepted her for who she was, but I'm not gonna lie that there wasn't a part of me that wishes things could've been different.

Bottom line, if it's not hurting anybody and the creator isn't out to change people's views, then there's no good reason in my eyes to get offended by it. He's not trying to change someone in real life.

I know that many won't agree but I think that there would be an easy solution: remove internet anonymity.

I am pretty sure that 99% of these "bullies" will disappear if people were forced to write in social network with their real names instead of hiding themselves behind a nick and/or an avatar.

Also, why is anyone offended by the backlash?

You can bet your ass a bunch of SJW's and pro LGBT people would flip **** if someone tried to do the same thing to a character and make them straight in a mod. A bunch of god damn hypocrites.

Yeah.

On one hand, I can see people being miffed at the idea of changing a core part of a person's sexuality. That can be entirely bothersome for a portion of the population. On the same lines, the 'make Isabela white' mod made me extremely uncomfortable. I'm mixed race and have dealt with enough people trying to whitewash me that it honestly gave me the heebie jeebies.

On the other hand, I'm not tracking down the mod maker, I mostly just shake my head. What the bullies are doing are... setting back our own damn cause.  <_< There's a way to do this without foaming at the mouth, folks.

A straight Dorian mod would only make him straight in the games of people who download it, while everywhere else he remains as he is. Considering all it boils down to is lines of code you are just changing a line not a living person.

So as long as no-one says that this is how the character should have been. Then ultimately it doesnt matter what people choose to do, as long as they understand that a character would not and should not be changed by Bioware because of a mod.
