What is this I'm hearing about people giving a modder crap for making a Cassandra female romance mod?

Yeah, even if I did support these mods the laughable lack of immersion (I hate using that word) would make me cringe. But hey, props for the creator for at least being able to do that.

Yeah, I have no modding skill whatsoever.  The one time I managed to do something in Garry's Mod was make a character spaz across the screen.

I didn't see those things but what I did see was plenty of trolling of the genuinely disappointed. It is a natural human reaction to gloat.

True. I wouldn't say it's a natural human reaction to gloat about others being disappointed though, I'd say a bsn reaction. :P  People on this forum like to mock other folks.

As for the topic, I don't like mods which change sexuality of any gender. But I don't really care what people do in their games. That's full hypocrisy however if you are okay with one thing, but not the other. So, I hope the same people who are fine with Cassandra, will be also fine with Dorian and Sera, or mods which want to make Cassandra and Josie look prettier for example. ( mods that I wouldn't like either by the way )

Is that right?

Because to me it says "I'd like to play as a female and romance Cassandra."

I meant beyond the obvious, BP.

Like why there's a debate about Cassandra having this mod while not so for Solas apparently?

Like why someone would want such a mod even if it's lacking in a lot of ways?

Like why is it that some people are creeped out by the idea of changing someone's sexuality while others aren't?

Why is bisexuality seen as a compromise for Bioware romances?

Etc...

Now these are topics that I can get into.

If you posted this on Tumblr...they would say your are not gay, you are overcome by your oppression or you have stockholm syndrome.

Oh dear. How will I EVER recover?

I won't download those mods myself, but I won't be all over their pages sending hate mail either.  Dorian is very pretty and witty and self-assured.  I can certainly see why someone would want to play his romance.

His quest is tied up so intricately with his sexuality, I am not sure it would be fun to play, but then they (whoever chooses such a mod) may have a different experience or be willing to trade that quest for the mod.

Sera is a bit of a problem for me.  There are things about her I like, (her being blunt and upfront) and things about her I don't like (being close-minded about elves).

As far as Cassandra and Josie are concerned, I think Cass is hot and Josie is sweet, but I've read some of the stuff from posters who don't.  Hopefully such mods will enhance their game experience.

I think some things are weightier than others. In context, there are less issues with this mod than one that might do the same for Dorian or Sera, considering "straight erasure" only exists insofar as they are a couple of words with definitions. Certainly less issues than one that might whitewash Viv or Isabela.

Well, the existence of the mod itself only leads to the first two questions. The other two are questions based upon the reaction to it's existence. And the first two have very easy answers.

#1. Because that's who the modder was interested in.

#2. Because it's better than nothing.

Actually, will have to disagree with you on this one. Just imagine if your arse was on fire and people passing by were just minding their own business instead calling for the Fire Department. Also imagine this what would happen to the world if no one cares about the less fortunate because everyone was minding their own ****** business?

Yea, I always thought this was a stupid argument for people not intervening in things.  Unless people just enjoy being busybodies (some admittedly do) it doesn't apply.

Most people who "don't mind their own business" are doing it because

1) They are concerned someone is doing something wrong that will result in harm to other people or society generally

 or

2) They are actually concerned about the person in question and want to see if they need help.

While both of those can be misdirected, neither is an inherently unhealthy impulse, and frankly, I don't want to live in a world where people actively try to suppress both impulses.

i've told my husband some stories about what goes on in this fandom, including this latest one and he always just shakes his head and comments on how bad the whole fandom seems to be.  i always try to defend it but honestly, i'm beginning to wonder why :/  there are the trolls, but they're easy to deal with.  it's the people who are genuinely so full of hatred and vitriol, it can be disheartening.  there are bad eggs everywhere though, as well as the good ones.

You don't to interact with the fandom to play, love, hate or even learn about the game. I didn't when Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 were out. I think that was a good move on my part. I hear the debates back then were legendary clashes of word, wit, hyperbole and verbal abuse.

So you want to erase homosexuality as well as heterosexuality by making everyone BI?

The writers have the right to create the characters how they envision them.  They can't cater to everyone.

I never said to erase any orientation in DA2 I always romanced Fenris and I am a Heterosexual guy all I said was I supported the Everyones BI Option that way everyone could enjoy their Dragon Age Expeirence more.
And yes I like when characters having specfic oreintations/beliefs it makes them more realistic.

But I do support the modders that are trying to enjoy their own game more.

My apologies for misunderstanding you then.  I don't care how people mod their game but there are a great many people who will expect the writers to incorporate their personal headcanons in the game

In all honestly though, comparing someone or something to the thought police should count as a breaking of Godwin's Law.

It's way overused.

In all honesty, I've read only the first four pages of the topic, and yet it was enough to make me realize Dragon Age has one of the worst fandom in all the Internet. Maybe even worse than Pewdiepie's. Maybe...

*snip*

Pewdiepie's fandom is really really bad.

We still have to go a loooooong way before we got to that point.
