What is this I'm hearing about people giving a modder crap for making a Cassandra female romance mod?

Before release I had plans to make a Female inquisitor for Cassandra, but when I got the news that she was straight I was disappointed but it wasn't the end of the world for me.

I honestly think modding characters sexualites is wrong, it would still be wrong if anyone was to mod Dorian as Bi/straight or any of the characters. I remember some arguments about Cullen being bi and not straight and people constantly treat Solas like crap because his character is straight and likes female elves only.

I don't look forward to these conflicts for the next Mass Effect game.. I really don't  (because we all know it's going to happen)

It's definitely/equally wrong if the same was done to Dorian or Sera. I assumed mods like this already exist or will exist.

Although I'm straight and male, I find it equally lame.

You can bet your ass a bunch of SJW's and pro LGBT people would flip **** if someone tried to do the same thing to a character and make them straight in a mod. A bunch of god damn hypocrites.

giphy.gif

Mods like this do exist in the reverse and plenty of lgbt gamers never made a fuss/don't give a toss. Shocking, right? But don't let facts get in the way of you jumping on a chance to use a single incident of silliness as an excuse to take cheap shots at those super sensitive queers and their social justice lovin' allies.

Modded love will be right heeeeere :aaaaaaah aaaahhh uuuaaaaah:

Dorian doesn't look so bad without the stache.

But you'd barely recognize him..

I'm pretty sure 'stacheless Dorian is his an counterpart from a mirror universe.  He shouldn't be trusted.

Hardly use mods except when there's a valid reason for it; ME3 conclusion. Of the trilogy, the final installment was the only one where it did not warrant a second PT. It was so unbearable that I used the MEHEM mod so I could walk away from the game feeling happy instead of simmering anger. Kudos to the ME modders for their creativity.

In the case of the Cass mod, the effort is respected. However, tbh, I feel such mods detract the character, not compliment it,

A stacheless Dorian is not a Dorian at all! :crying:

Dorian is defined by his brilliant 'stache; any removal of it is paramount to character assassination! The angels of mustache heaven weep, and cry sacrilege at the very suggestion of it! Dios mio

Actually, I cracked up at the scene with Traynor when she shot down my DShep (DangleBagsShep for future reference.)  Sera's line is almost as humorous.  I can't remember the exact wording, but something like "Oh, no, we both like the same thing.  Girls."  Or something like that.  Cracked me up :)  Really, they were both awesome denials.

Though, poor Traynor, I ever after viewed her as competition, so constantly assigned her to purging the sewer systems and whatnot.

LOL this entire thread is a mess.

If you are really this upset by a mod, I don't know what to tell you. The Canon is not being altered in any way by them. I resent the "If we made the gay characters straight the gays would riot LOL WHERE U AT AL SHARPTON AMIRITE???" argument because no one would care because the gays have been downloading sexuality changing mods since the original mass effect.

I'm genuinely sorry to everyone out there who has been seriously hurt by this mod. Which means I'm sorry to know one, because its a ****** mod that means nothing to anyone except the people who choose to use it. Get a job or a hobby or something, please.

Dorian's a very dashing fellow without the 'stache, but tbh not having facial hair makes him look like a rebellious teen with impeccable hair and not an adult.

Silly rabbit. This IS a hobby. :P

I'm new to this thread, so I don't know who says they're hurt by it. I know I'm not. I just hate gamers who are player centric. It's more of a philosophical difference to me. People who place priorities of the setting over all vs people who place the players' priority over everything. When it comes to fictional worlds, I like their rules to be consistent (and obeyed, for lack of a better word). Not for players to be catered to every way.

Where'd Dorian go? I see no fabulous 'stache. This must be a new companion that someone modded into the game. I don't know why anyone would want to replace Dorian because his 'stache is the entire reason people play this game in the first place: to behold its glory, and aspire to something greater than themselves.

I'm just curious, are you against all mods then?  Because that's basically what all mods do... change the game based on the players' desires.

Not when it's inconsequential, and doesn't override lore or story too much. Otherwise, I hate it too. I like superficial mods. Or mods that build off or compliment the setting... and are made by lore junkies or fans of the characters (and fyi, changing a character's sexuality is a sure sign that you're not a fan of them. You're a fan of another idea of them).

Can I stop it? No. I just have an opinion.

How dare anyone discuss something about gaming, or have an opinion.  Especially if you disagree with it.

Funny thing, prerelease, I would have been happy if she was Bi. I had a lot of fellow female fans of Cass back then.. they were a little bummed and I was bummed for them.

But that's not how this went down.. and I have to respect that. Just like I wish I could have romanced Sera pre release... Now I'll do it as intended.. with a female toon,

I'm still baffled that people are surprised by this.

I think that literally every non-bisexual LI in BW's history has had a romance mod created for them....even Sebastian in DA2.

I'm guessing that every DAI character that fits that criteria will have a romance mod in the next few weeks.

Actually, as long as people are being respectful, Bioware seems to have a history of encouraging fans to play with their characters.  They released modding tools for modders to be able to mod their game.  http://forums.nexusm...ing-dragon-age/

In fact, the Dragon Age Toolset is still available on their site. http://dragonage.bio...om/dao/toolset/

They also held a fanfiction contest.  http://themarriedgam...ners-announced/ Which kind of says, 'let's see what you can do with our characters'.

Allowing people to play and mod their characters actually can bring more people to their game.  I played their game console only, until I found out about the mods. Then I bought versions for the PC as well, because, mods.

Bioware seems to realize that giving these tools and allowing players to expand upon their creations in non-monetary ways will help ensure the longevity of the game and the re-playability. It also ensures a fan base is still here when they release their next iteration.

Modding the Dragon Age game is not so much an 'in your face' to the game designers but more of a compliment in that 'we love your creation so much, we want to do more with it and we want more.'

I'm not surprised. I expected this earlier.. lol. I also expect a mod to romance nugs. You never know with some people.

I'm not surprised. I just think it's time for a good debate about the issue. Or if not debate, just some fighting.
