I couldn't give two nugbutts for how some social justice people feel about the mod. It's the modder's single player game. That said, I do feel kind of sorry for the Bioware writers. They made this -amazing- character and some folks feel like they can improve on that. That's almost insulting to the writer.
What is this I'm hearing about people giving a modder crap for making a Cassandra female romance mod?

I don't see the appeal of these mods considering the VO files will be missing for your gender, the romance scenes will clip and look awkward, your character will be misgendered in dialog, etc.

Yeah.
On one hand, I can see people being miffed at the idea of changing a core part of a person's sexuality. That can be entirely bothersome for a portion of the population. On the same lines, the 'make Isabela white' mod made me extremely uncomfortable. I'm mixed race and have dealt with enough people trying to whitewash me that it honestly gave me the heebie jeebies.
The depressing thing about that was how popular the "make Isabela white" mod was, even with the description about it "improving her beauty" by turning her into a blond white woman, like being dark skinned made her ugly or something ![]()

I know that many won't agree but I think that there would be an easy solution: remove internet anonymity.
I am pretty sure that 99% of these "bullies" will disappear if people were forced to write in social network with their real names instead of hiding themselves behind a nick and/or an avatar.
Bullshit. Go to any political/news site or discussion site that uses Facebook login. Some of the nastiest, most vile hate I've seen has had people's names attached to a goddamned public profile.
It's not the anonymity. It's the distance. I'm safely behind my computer. I can't see your face, hear your voice, read your body language. None of the contextual empathic queues we're biologically conditioned to heed are there. It requires people to consciously make an effort to empathize exclusively via text, to remember there are actual people with feelings on the other end, and that's apparently way too much for some people, with or without real names.

First, I understand why some people might find a bi!Cassandra mod offensive, just like I would totally understand why people would find a bi!Dorian mod offensive.
However, while people are entitled to their opinions, labeling the mod maker a rapist is both poor taste and grossly trivializes the reality of rape. (Which is the crux of the harassment and apparently the modder's stated reason for walking away).
Unfortunately, this is another perfect illustration of why so many see Tumblr as a cesspool of misguided, echo-chambered mouth frothing. Gaider also deleted his own Tumblr recently after an extremely toxic vocal minority irrationally decided he supported unhealthy relationships because they disapproved of Bull/Dorian relationship banter.
It's sad that a such a small number of toxic people can magnify their hate so intensely as to drive away the creatives that truly form the foundation of the fandom community. I hope the modder finds peace in her time away from the mob and comes back with the strength to share her works again.
I am out of likes, but I like all of this.

There's nothing amazing about Cassandra's writing, bhsup. She's about as stock as it gets. If you're bi/gay fem, however, she's the only other alternative to the irritating London chav, or the boring desk clerk that waddles around like a preening cockerel in the war room. It's no wonder the mod appeared.
If Bioware is going to half-ass romance options this much in the future, they might as well get rid of them altogether.

No wonder I couldn't find the mod anymore for the past few days. I left a comment of support and now i can't even remember the authors name. I was the one who encouraged him/her to expand the mod to make all romanceable characters, bi.
I wish I had the skills to make a mod like that, just so I can bathe in the hate mail and laugh at them.

I've read too much fan fiction to be bothered at all by people changing a character's sexuality to suit their purposes. Its all waters off a duck's back at this point, but the treatment the modder received was just cruel though. ![]()

While I am disgusted with your reference to Sera there...
I cannot help but pee my pants with laughter at "waddles around like a preening cockerel in the war room".

You shouldn't be. That's exactly what she is. Childish, short-sighted, disruptive, prejudiced in line with the trendiest opinions, and all of the above purely because she's uncomfortable with her own self-image, and too idiotic to do something about it. She's trash, and absolutely everything wrong with the country I left behind.
So in that respect, she's also incredibly well written. But that doesn't stop me from hating her any less.

I don't think the important part is what we think about these mods, but giving the modder so much crap as to driving them away. Overreacting no? Who are those people?
I find it very odd because these mods have always been around for past Bioware games. It's nothing new, but the reaction to it is.

These modders and their underhanded Modding Agenda! They need to STOP. STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE DOING. Cassandra is not Samantha Traynor! STOP. Stop Gaying up Straights and Straightening Gays! It's all just preference anyway and there are any number of highly reputable organizations that can talk you out of either orientation/agenda! Don't allow them to alter the underpinning divinely-inspired moral fabric of America!
Just STOP.

Most people wouldn't say half the nasty things if they were face to face, they'd keep their mouth shut incase they offended somebody so bady that they'd get a black eye/broken nose, at least the internet exposes their ugly views publicly

Cassandra as heterossexual is blasphemy. Cassandra is clearly a lesbian. But since they wrote her like that... well everything is wrong in Inquisition anyway... except for Bull being sub and Vivienne being domme.

that was heartwrenching. i don't know the modder, but after reading that, i just want to give her a huge hug. i hope she does overcome all this unnecessary hate and return to modding. i have the utmost respect for modders for what they do and what they're able to achieve. she did not deserve this.

Anyway thanks for the clarifications, already downloaded the mod just in case lest something else happens. I don't usually romance anybody in games but hey. Maybe when I get a new computer and can play at max settings to admire the full glory of the Cassmance.
Opine on mods as strenuously as you like but don't give modders crap.

Also, why is anyone offended by the backlash?
You can bet your ass a bunch of SJW's and pro LGBT people would flip **** if someone tried to do the same thing to a character and make them straight in a mod. A bunch of god damn hypocrites.
And I'd find those people stupid too. So long as nothing hateful is involved, or stuff such as ''this is how the character should have been'', mods are just mods. Let people apply them to their hearts's content, what the hell does anyone care what someone else does in their own single-player game?
But alas, we live in a time where some minorities in social netwoks are looking for things to be outraged about and immediately resort to bullying and harrassment to make themselves feel righteous. People being stupid is nothing new, but it really reaches new levels of absurdity when people call someone a rapist because they changed a character's sexuality in their game.
