Personally, I wouldn't like Dorian to be modded... simply for Dorian's sake. Not his fans. He isn't real, but I'd rather treat him as if he was. Rather than being all clinical and objectifying him as a bunch of pixels and game assets, able to retooled for my selfish amusement. lol.. that's just so robotic and boring. Has no life in it.
What is this I'm hearing about people giving a modder crap for making a Cassandra female romance mod?

Cassandra is a little butch, so why not have her romance females?
Err I don't find very Cassandra butch. Her personality is not very butch like at, its quite "girly" actually. She is a soldier and as a result she cuts her hair short and has scars that does not make someone butch at all. For fraksake her favourite pass time is reading trashy romance novels, and she swoons over the idea of being swept off her feet. These are all pretty traditionally non Butch personality traits. Her ideal Romantic situation is to be courted with her in the passive role. I think that by definition makes her not butch.

That entirely depends on EULA and the publisher's willingness to enforce it.
What I meant was that the artist does not have final say on the end product. They can come up with and present concepts, but they cannot force their employer to implement their vision. And that's assuming it isn't art by committee. Once you start producing art via committee, forget it, no one's vision has any hope of being present in the final product which will just be a huge amalgam that looks nothing like what anybody wanted it to look like.

Tough is undeservedly associated with masculinity.
Hmm. You sure about that?

Both seem dodgy to me.

If anyone is modding Sera, I hope they are prepared for the backlash. It'll be worse than Cassandra since Sera is "hands off" like Dorian.

Ugh, I know right? The heterophobia present in society is just unbearable.
Like, what about straight people? Why do gay people get special treatment?
While we're at it, why does no-one care about white people? Our society has a facade that black people are underprivileged, but it's actually white people who suffer the most.
Don't even get me started on feminism! Men have it far worse than women and you don't see us complaining!

What on earth is wrong with you people, its a game, not yours or theirs or mine... The fans here scare me in sad little way.

Both are ok AFAIAC. My stance is very simple.
Straight and simply:
Modders - do whatever you want to do with your game, ignore the anti-crowd noise.
Users - if you like the mod, use it and don't be ashamed about it. If you don't like it, don't use it.
Anti crowd - stop bothering people with your morals, beliefs and philosophies. Keep them for yourself and your friends. No one should give a .... about it. I don't.

that seems a bit different to me really. When some one makes a bi mod they are doing it so they can romance a character they like. And to make the character more accessible to others.
But when you mod a characters skin color the reasons can be from harmless "oh its to try something new" to being totally racist.

Ah crap...this again. In the words of Stephen Fry...
“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so f*cking what."
I personally like or use mods that change a persons gender/colour/sexuality. However, I'm enough of a grown up to know that this is a game that is currently being modded and undoubtedly they'll eventually be a way for people to make every character look like Mario and be attracted to nothing but otters (okay, exaggeration, but still). If you disagree with these mods, simply don't download them. The fact of the world is that there are people out there who don't think like you, have your values or ideals or who place the same weight to things you do. And guess what? Harassment and abuse is not going to make them change there mind, anymore than it would your own.
The most this might do is simply to stop modders from daring to experiment and improve their knowledge of how to mod this game. And that folks, is not to the benefit of anybody.

Look im just saying if its not ok to mod the sexuality of one character. Then its not ok to mod the sexuality of any characters and vise versa.
For example I don't like the make isabella white mod so im not going to say its ok to make a make leliana black mod.
Because as soon as I do im being a hypocrite which is what people are being if its ok for a bi casandra mod but not a bi sera mod.

There's no difference. They can already romance a character they like. They just don't want to play as a different gender, which is on them, not the game.
A modder may say they wish to make Vivienne white because they prefer her look like that, just as they may prefer to romance Dorian as a girl.
Both mods are forms of erasure.

Again, so you think that a mod to make Vivienne white would be perfectly fine, as stopping them making it would be restricting their artistic skills?

No. I wouldn't like it. But guess what, that's my opinion and I sure as hell would never think to force my opinions on other through harassment or abuse. If I don't like something, I separate myself from it. This whole "stopping them from making it". How? How are you going to stop people from doing what they want to in their spare time, if it isn't against the law?

I can kind of see that
but what I was trying to say about how I see it a bit diffrent is that one seems to be trying to be hurtful while the other is not
I can understand how important representation is to people but in my opinion if we want to take the problem of erasure seriously then we can't use double standards.
The way see it I can't get upset for someone using a mod to change skin color/sexuality/gender ect of a character If I am doing the same thing.

You can openly disagree with a mod being made without harassment or abuse. There's nothing wrong in politely standing up for what you believe in and saying you think someone was morally wrong to create a mod.
"How? How are you going to stop people from doing what they want to in their spare time, if it isn't against the law?"
The same way we've been changing peoples ingrained opinions about society for 100 years. Debate.
