Dragon Age is less like a cookie and more like a short novel wouldnt you say?

That doesn't mean that the game "deserves" critical analysis or that something is wrong when people don't want to examine it under an artistic lens or don't want to take its message seriously. If you want to analyse, go ahead, but acting like a product ought to be analysed and people who don't actively encourage such analyses are to be blamed for something is incorrect.

I would have thought that Cassandra would be one of the more acceptable characters to mod in this way. After all, I see nothing in her romance which really requires her  partner to be male. In fact, I find it more natural for Cassandra than for Josephine, who is already bisexual.

If it were Dorian on the other hand, I think I would also object, because being gay seems to be a big part of who he is.

God you people are so strong minded about a video game. Take a chill pill, its just a game.

Take a chill pill Meta, it's just a thread on a forum about a video game.

She even says she wants a man to sweep her off her feet.

Funny, it's just a game when it comes to Cassandra, but boy you better not do the same thing to Dorian. :P

Well as Gaider aptly put, "Characters have to justify being straight, I suppose?"

It's only enough when a man says he isn't into women. If a women says that, they need proof. :P

Her job doesn't give her enough time to get her straight licence.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who think all women are "naturally bisexual"

I was told people thought I was a lesbian because I worked in lawn care.

Sadly, just because I think girl/girl is hot does not mean most women do.

I think it's perfectly natural for Josie as well. The reason Cass ended up straight most likely has to do with the 'balance' thing they seemed to be going after for romances in Inquisition, although I personally don't really agree with the decision.

Or maybe she ended up straight, because that's how Gaider wrote her....

Could be as simple as that, too. It wouldn't surprise me if she was always intended to be as such, before Inquisition was a thing.

Because creating a character that defies the stereotype that a tough, practical, strong woman must be a lesbian couldn't possibly be a factor in why she was made straight.

Also: what's wrong with balance? Straight people just should have less options than everyone else?

Before Inquisition, there was Dawn of the Seeker and her comment about MHawke.

To be fair, in DA2 her "romantic" comment was towards FHawke too but it was in a poetic sense

I'm guessing it's because it is a male dominated industry, and I have seen so few other women actually out in the field mowing and such, it is a slightly physically demanding job.

I just went back to drinking beer after they told me though.

It isnt just a product. Its an artwork that makes social and historical commentary and that should be discussed. If you dont want to fine, turn your brain off like everyone who watches Michael Bay.

Not sure where I said that couldn't have been a factor. Any combination of things could have played a role into the decision. It doesn't just have to be the balance. I just think it's possible that balance was part of it.

Also: what's wrong with balance? Straight people just should have less options than everyone else?

Also not sure how you thought I was in any way implying that balance was a bad thing.

If it were up to me, I would have made Cassandra open to both Inquisitor genders. That's what I meant when I said I don't agree with the decision to make her straight. I was really shocked when they announced she was only available to male PCs.
