So the corrosive influence of SJWs and social conservatives and, probably even religious zealots, have finally made their way infecting the modding community. It was a matter of time.

 

If I find a modd that I like, I will install it and enjoy it.  it will modify MY GAME. The one that I PAID FOR. I don't give a flying s*#t what other people think about it.

 

If you guys let these disgusting morons win with their stupid political correctness, they will, shortly, be ruling what must be the content of the next games, based on their short sided view of what is incorrect or inappropriate.

 

There is even a couple of women in another thread claiming that Morrigan  dresses too slutty for a mother. That "in reality", women should dress more conservative after giving birth.

 

With this trend, I won't be impressed if in a few years from now. Female characters will be depicted in the next videogames covering their heads like when they were going to church few decades ago....or with a burga.

 

 

It's a freaking fantasy game. Who cares about your moral standards? Apply them to your own version of the game and let the other gamers free to choose how they want to play the game they paid for.

Your main problem is that no one is changing "someone" sexual preferences. There is no someones in this or any fantasy games. They are just fictitious characters. They are NOT REAL PEOPLE. It's just a game.

 

There is nothing objectionable if you don't like it personally because it will translate into you not installing said modd. That should be fine. What is so wrong is attaching those who create the possibility of experiencing it or those taking advantage of such tool.

What I think is funniest about this whole thing is how people are scoffing at treating Cassandra as an actual person.  To me it seems like we're supposed to consider the characters in the game as real people.  If that weren't the point then there wouldn't be much of a reason to give them personalities and backgrounds.  I don't know about you, but I can examine a character as if they're a real person without deluding myself into believing that they actually are a real person.

 

For the record, I don't care about this mod.  I wouldn't download it if I played the game on a PC, but the fact that it exist  doesn't offend my sensibilities.  I don't see a meaningful distinction between creating this type of mod and creating a piece of fan fiction in which a character's orientation is reversed, and I admit to enjoying those types of stories occasionally.

The fact that these are characters with authors, I don't think is an irrelevant point.

 

From what I understand, Solas and Cullen both have bisexual content that was not completed. Obviously the writers have the authority to make a decision about the canon sexualities of their characters and the players don't, but the point is that the sexualities of some of the characters potentially already has been changed and or reconsidered multiple times. The authors can change the characters' sexuality however they need to, but as soon as that sexuality becomes "canon" no further exploration of a path that could have been is okay?

I have no issue with anyone but frankly I can't keep up with the acronyms and group labelling. None of them speak for me that is all I know.

 

"Social conservative" is an acronym? You also need to look at the context in which I used the phrase, which to me, gave it a fairly clear meaning:

You can probably google "social conservative" if you're still confused. It's a pretty well-used term often by people as a form of self-idenification.  People who are socially conservative tend to be proud of the fact. I imagine there are closet social conservatives.

I absolutely will. I don't use either mod and yes, personally I think specific mods can be somewhat tasteless, but I will defend them nonetheless because making these things a matter of morality or even worse, identity politics is completely ridiculous. Unless the mod maker makes it political, that is. They're catering to people's preferences, nothing more, and as I see it, the main problem is not the mods, but the fact that the would-be tyrants - the bigots on one side and the professionally offended on the other - can't leave things alone.  

 

I am not on the side of the "SJW" faction nor on the side of the social conservatives or whatever they're called these days. I'm on the side of free expression.

LOL, you should see the Dorian Pavus tag on Tumblr. There are posters there who want to fight some mod I still can't seem to prove exists (unless it's well hidden, but what's the point of that?) or they want to the person to be banned from Nexus, or to DIE. Literally, I've ignored several users who actually said that. Die. This modder is a terrible human being and needs to keel over asap. They don't deserve to live after committing such an atrocious act.

Smh, a shame that modder was treated like that though... During my playthrough, I really wished Cassandra was romanceable by a female, I caught feelings for her hard hehe. If I played on pc, and knew about the mod, I totally would've downloaded it. A downright shame the hatred this mod has garnered for the modder. I really don't know what else to say because it's not like what we say here will actually affect these people and make them reflect and change their ways.

Well i think its a combination between people discussing the morality of mods that change major character aspects (race, sexuality etc), wether video games should be criticized, i've seen a fair amount of discussion about tumblr and the internet as a whole, political correctness... erm

 

Oh and lots of people jumping in having only read the first page lol. Think that roughly sums it up.
