I used to think the world had something wrong in it, tried different ideologies, but now I realize Inquisition is the thing wrong in the world, get rid of it and everything is fine. So this get along talk will make sense. Without Inquisition we would have musulims and christians dancing to jewish music and praising buda.

Hmm, not sure what to feel about this.....

Hypothetically, I would not mind if there was a modder who made a Samantha Traynor Male Romance mod......

What would that mean for me?

I'm pretty sure that mod already exists.

I'm not opposed to mods of any kind, though I might think the content is deplorable. My argument is that we're being awfully picky with what is "acceptable" these days.

Here, Nat used a mod to turn Cassandra gay and then posted about it on Twitter. She got harassed for it, which is very unfair. But she also had people jump to her defence, saying "Well, if you u don't like the mod, then don't use it."

On the other hand, were I to mod Sera straight or turn Isabela white and then brag about it on Twitter, many of those same supporters would burn me at the stake. I have seen it happen.

The law of Fan Outrage isn't being applied fairly. You can use whatever mod you want ... unless it happens to fall under what a select group of people deem as "offensive." If anybody happens to hear about it, expect to become a pariah.

There is only one good thing regarding this matter: that mod now is spreading everywhere thanks to people who are upping it as a sign of support to that girl.

So, as often happens, the result of all the hatred is just to make something more famous and beloved among civil people...what a great payback for all the haters. And I am also going to download it just to show my support even if I don't use mods in my games..

And that right there is my biggest issue with those types of mods outside of my personally opinion towards it

I remember Plaintiff and Qistina, but not Ails Wulf. I also remember AngryWolves, but I think he's still around.

Links pls.

If that's true it's crap. Nobody said anything about Morrigan, Ashley, Bastila, or Dawn Star mods.

At first I was thinking "this is a total non issue and people need to just get over it."  And then I sort of thought "what if it was a mod to make Vivienne into a white person?" and that idea immediately gave me the jibblies.  So in short, I really don't know how to feel about this.  Probably this:

That mods, like fanfiction, let people do weird stuff if they want to.  It's impossible to prevent so it's probably just best to avoid the stuff that bothers you.  And I certainly don't want modding generally to be discouraged because some people do weird stuff with it.

Nothing is acceptable anymore.

It's either a case of sexism, bigotry, racism, ignorance, childish, too mature, or gratuitous - whatever "it" is.

There you go, I just listed the internet's favorite nouns and adjectives.

I wonder now that there is the keep, and that probably the keep will be used to import save and decisions to the next sequels this would mean pretty much a nullification of these types of mod?

Yea, the mods aren't canon anyway

Along with the fact that the modded characters are still gonna refer to you as the opposite gender/same gender depending

You folks know what the point of a mod is right ? It is to allow people to modify the game to their liking, no matter what. Everything is fair game.

Bisexual for all romances ? Fair game. Switched sexual preferences ? Fair game. Hot busty figures ? Fair game. Hot manly figures ? Fair game. Skimpy clothing ? Fair game. Immersion ? Fair game. Combat Tweaking ? Fair game. Cheats ? Fair game. Changing skin color ? Fair game.

Sigh...

It is events like these that truly demonstrate the inherent bigotry that exists amongst Bioware fans. It demonstrates the "not-so-tolerant-but-pretentiously-tolerant" mindset that many have in these forums.

I mean, I have been around the Elder Scrolls modding community and the most I have seen there is just "This-mod-is-weird-but-everyone-has-a-preference" attitude.

If someone wants to mod Cassandra's romance to make it available for females, let them be. If someone wants to mod Cassandra's face to look more feminine and for her to have longer hair, let them be.

If you do not like it then do not download it or do not install it.

Theres also an equal opportunity Solas mod out now.

Oh no! Whatever shall we do?!  <_<

Get real, guys. The only reason I won't use these mods is because of the Keep. I already have to kill off Alistair in all my male-romanced playthroughs. And as a gay man, I would not be offended if someone wanted to make a romance Dorian for women. Because chances are, if not for the Keep, I'd play that once or twice myself.

That's all fine and dandy, but don't go to the fan thread of that character to brag about your new "creation," because the people there like/love the original creation that came from the writer/artist.

Exactly. This censorship of fantasy, the censorship of the human imagination, is one of the worst forms of Thought Crime and people who are perpetuating it are the worst kinds of Orwellian Thought Police.

These characters are not real. Bioware will not recognize mods as canon. As such people should be allowed to do whatever they want when they mod. Dorian without mustache ? white Dorian ? Solas with hair ? Vivienne white with hair ? Cassandra being feminine ? Sera being straight ? Cassandra being lesbian ?

These are most definitely not my kind of mods, for I am a gameplay and immersion type of person. However, I will defend the people who want to make these mods and make them available.

At the end of the day, this is a mature game meant for mature adult humans. Humans who are supposed to be capable of distinguishing between reality and fiction, between fantasy and real life. If someone wants to fantasize Cassandra as a lesbian or Vivienne as white or Dorian as clean shaven, let them be because it is just a fantasy, not a reality.

More power to the people if they want to les up, gay up, straight up, white up, black up, whatever up a character.

Bioware have a fairly large group of fans who are especially touchy about this stuff, while they play the we're such a welcoming, inclusive, tolerant bunch card, it only really applies when your views don't step out of line with their own, if they do, they you can expect the Bioware gustapo knocking on your e-door reading you the riot act. The type of people who spend all their time reposting **** about feminism and homophobia on tumblr but do bollocks all else to actually make a real difference.

Y'know if the ability is there and I want to make every damn character a white, heterosexual I will. If others want to change other things then they should as well, without facing the ire of a bunch of internet ragers.

Precisely. The amount of pretentiously tolerant people in these forums far exceed any other game forums I have been in....

Not the worst mod I've seen

White Isabela mod which makes her blonde hair, blue eyed caucasian female -_-

Don't forget that the "white Isabela" was apparently the "improved" version of her, that kinda belief is what i dislike more then the mod itself

You're misusing those terms. "Thought crime" is not perpetuated by thought police; thought crime is the thing that the thought police are trying to get rid of.

So the people censoring human imagination are acting as thought police, and the thought crime they are policing is human imagination.

Though I agree with the point you're trying to make.

You shouldn't "humanize" this stuff in general. I think a lot of people would be pissed if someone made Dorian bi or straight.

Think about the (imo) misguided issues many had with Kaidan and Anders - It's all parallel universes, not revoking people of their sexual identity out of bigotry.

P.S.: I mean, people do a lot of messed up sh*t out of just bigotry, but those aren't necessarily some of them.

And to think about it - people want to romance their beloved characters so badly that they are willing to put up with broken lines, no voice dialogs, plot inconsistency (like with Dorian - should such mod appear his personal quest will make no sense). It's THEIR game and they want to play it the way they want it - what is so wrong with that?

Was always curious - do fanfics about "wrong" relationship with companions get the same reception? Outrage and so on?

P.S. If anyone interested, there are people who preserved that particular mod. If only for a while: http://daitools.free...-mods-t533.html
