Well, It's nice to see this thread is still a place of love and peace, signifying the unity of the board.

It's a real love fest, it is.

I've seen this in media before (particularly TV). When an hinted gay character actually turns out being straight, gay fans take to twitter and social media to complain. When a hinted straight character is suddenly turned gay though, nobody cares.
Straight people take to social media to complain just as much when a supposed straight character turns out to be gay or bi. I certainly remember a bunch of angry and heated responses when Korra got together with Asami (
) at the end of the LoK finale. Then there was the huge debacle for a short while about the Walking Dead when there was barely a hint of a possibility that Daryl Dixon could possibly be gay. It didn't even turn out to be true, but even just the possibility of such a thing got a large number of people up in arms on the subject.
I see this thread is still going. I thought it was established way back that death threats over mods and accusing modders of rape was insane. Like within the first dozen pages or so. Is there any amount of justification that would make this right if the shoe was on the other foot? No, of course not. Yet, unless I'm really mistaken, it seems like there are some folks that would justify this behavior under any circumstances. To use the old expression, two wrongs don't make a right.
Is the gamer culture so awful that we're sending death threats and accusing other human beings of rape over a mod, and somehow trying to find reasons why that's okay? Seriously, what the hell. Most of the players aren't going to be able to use this anyway, so who gives a crap? BioWare isn't going to suddenly change their intended canon for those characters in a patch, so why should anyone be worried about this?
There is already a bi-Dorian mod and a bi-Sera mod, yet I don't hear this insane outcry about them. I haven't heard those modders being called horrible things and having this ration of crap over it. It's a sodding video game, and nothing excuses death threats. I'm LGBT, but I know that these mods are optional content that only PC users can utilize.
I think some folks need to get away from the internet and go for a walk if they think death threats over a video game is ever okay under any circumstance.
what's going on?
Tumblr.
Heterophobia is most definitely a thing. I've seen a fellow claim that straight people don't exist, and that anyone who identifies as such should be killed. No one is denying that it's much, much rarer, but you can't pretend it doesn't exist.
Ive seen it on my dash and tumblr. And these people promoting hate do not realize they are not accomplishing anything. I know to shelters in my area that have BLOCKED Tumblr because of the hate and bullying.
I think the whole issue with the Cassandra Bi Mod is that in the Vanilla game...she asks the female Inquisitor to stop flirting and wants to be friends with her.
I think alot of people are just offended that the mod is basically ignoring that dialogue. These same people who are ignoring that dialogue also tend to be very militant and point out every single area of the game they find problematic.
And yes, getting death threats is wrong and people have the right to mod how they want....but alot of people just consider that mod an affront to how Cassandra was written.

There is also the issue of the double standard. That alone **** off a lot of people too. It's just like people crap on the white Isabela mod but sing praise to the black Cousland family one. While I simply hate the both of them because they erase the characters identity.
People got their heads so up their arses these days, and the freaking internet is the place of choice to come pouring down all their frustrations.
I understand that some people dont like these mods. You like what you like and no one has anything to say about that.
If these changes were something official and released by Bioware I think the backlash would be justified. But a user made mod, that you only use if you want to use, it falls down to each individual the choice of using it or not. So complaining about them is like a freaking idiot meddling into affairs they have no authority whatsoever to meddle into. It just makes no sense. Are you people lacking stuff to do with your time to complain about a thing that does not concern you?? Its idiotic and anyone that complains about it is just screaming - I HAVE TOO MUCH FREE TIME AND I LOVE MAKING CONFLICT WITH ANY CAT AND DOG THAT COMES MY WAY! THAT'S HOW I ROLL, IM A FREAKING NUTJOB!
With that said, there are already mods to have - Bi Cassandra, Cullen, Serah, Blackwall and Solas. I warn you tho: IT IS OPTIONAL. You need to make a decision wether or not you want to use it. You are not forced in any way to go looking for them, you are not forced to download, instal and learn how to use Inquisition Mod Station. You need to make your own decision. I know thats hard for some people, but at least you've been warned.
Oh and i case i forgot to mention - its optional and you have to go look for it, you cant get it officially.
Came here to get away from the mess in Tumblr only to find... this. Can't believe the fandom has gotten this... low.
Jackhats, double standards, homophobes, heterophobes and the likes. Seen one, seen all.
There are so many issues out there that needs to be addressed: governance, poverty, pollution, education, terrorism, crime, cancer and diseases and the list goes on.
I'm surprised that there are so little games out there that highlights the aforementioned issues. Here we are ranting away and tearing out our hair just because we can't get to romance a video game character whose sexuality is already determined by the writers. Same goes for bullying someone in retracting game mods.
The world sure can't get any better than this.

I agree with everything you said, and because of it, here's this:
A 102 year old man surprised a burglar in his home who had cut his hand bad upon smashing his bedroom window.
Instead of calling the police right away, he treated the man's wound & called him a cab. He only called the police when a relative informed him of his insurance-related obligations, long after he escorted the burglar to the front door, leaving peacefully.
This happened yesterday.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a black Cousland Mod considering the fact that you can make a dark skinned Cousland. Mind you, I've never used the mod, as I didn't know it existed. But my vanilla Cousland was dark skinned and pretty much looked adopted, or looked like Mrs. Cousland cheated with a tall dark sexy man somewhere. I really like the way DA2 did it by changing the family to match the changes in the CC.

Well... there's a few greens, reds and oranges... just missing blue. And probably some other colour I can't think of right now. ![]()

Eat skittles, vomit rainbows.
Also, I now hate everyone in this thread, myself included. BW mods even more. How is this thing still going?

Well, I can also make an light skinned city elf, but the truth is that their mother is in fact dark skinned. So it wouldn't make much sense. The real issue is how people complain about an certain mod but handwave the other. People say they are progressive, but the truth is that they are only progressive when it suits them, and that's an really poor atitude in my opinion.
I don't know why people would like to see this thread locked, it's always fun when the circus comes to town and you get to laugh at clowns...
What would happen if everybody was open minded and nobody was an ignorant self-righteous?

That kind of world sucks, I know.
This is much better:

It does make sense, if it didn't then BW wouldn't have done what they did in DA2. What is the point of giving us the option to make dark/light skinned characters then have a set family that will always look the same no matter what? In this case, I don't mind modding a family light or dark to match the PC.
Now if someone makes a dark skinned Merrill mod, I wouldn't like it and consider it more comparable to an Isabella white Mod.

Best Jerry Springer Punch
You can't see in the gif but she punched that chick's earring off. lol!

We all know we like Jerry Springer's world better. ![]()

Yeah I didn't like the dark skinned sera Mod when I first heard about it. But I read somewhere that the modder was recreating Sera's concept art.

I think that's pretty cool, she looks badass in it. If the hair came with it, I would use the mod. I wish I was good at modding because I so would make concept art Dorian(headband one), pet monkey and all.
I'm not even gonna talk about concept art Solas. dem dreads
*drools*

I don't understand. The authors can explore all kinds of character concepts, but it is not okay for players to explore new/different character concepts?
