I wouldn't mind both a sequel and prequel hybrid trilogy.

You play a character some time in future after shepards death. You could potentially have former teammates still alive up to thousand years later (Liara, Rex, grunt etc.). And the plot could involve time travel, taking your new squad back to important historical events like the first contact war, krogen wars, and events from the trilogy. This would allow for plenty of potential interaction with original trilogy events and characters.

Nooo.

No time travel. That's always a mistake.

At this point in time, I think that the next Mass Effect game can be anything bearing the amount of work BioWare is taking in actually not talking much about it yet (there is nothing really about it yet).

I only hope that:

1- it will be a trilogy as well, and that they will care more about the story and story holes if they do decide on creating a new trilogy.

2- I also hope that they will, for the love of Shepard, include more real consequences for the character's decisions-actions during the game, be it negative or positive, but I want-wish-beg for consequences (they need to think about it more for the next Dragon Age also as the table missions were awesome but pretty bad in dealing/bringing any real consequences for the story).

3- Romance - please let the main character romance any team member, be it male-female-alien-whatever?

PS: Can someone open a change.org and ask for those items please? :P

Maybe next year we will know more about it

And please, don't make everything including whether someone's baby gets the sniffles and dies revolve around what my character does.

And please let these consquences be causally tied to the players actions. Having a character die from a rocket to the face because you didn't save his kitten from a tree 3 missions earlier is not consequence, it's coincidence. Yes I'm looking at you loyality missions.
