Hello, I have been having recent issues with mass effect 2 for the Pc. There is a problem with the audio or dialogue where it has the person or persons you interact with skip a portion of their speech. They say a part of a sentence but they do not finish it all the way through.
for example

"Hey i was just about to get back to the no......"
"oh ok that's fine ill ju....."
"sure no pro...."

Argh! what did you say? finish the sentence!

I just bought this game today and this issue is quite irritating for me. I would really like to find a way around it or if there is a way bio ware could patch this issue.? I will state my specs if that might come to any use.

windows 7 Professional 32 bit,
Intel core 2 Quad "Q6600"
4 GB ram patriot memory
1TB WD HDD
Nvidia ge Force 9600 GT (it has DX10 support)
and some Some type of gigabyte motherboard

If there is a work around for this bug I would appreciate a response from someone in the forums or a bioware Tech. If this is a unfixable in game bug I hope you guys will come out with a patch sometime in the near future. If there is anyone willing to help I would very much so appreciate it. :)

Thanks, KrogenRogue

It looks like this post didn't make it on the board 30 minutes after I made it. I hope someone is reading this because This is a serious issue that is messing up the game for me.

I think most everyone is having that problem. Hoping for a solution soon too, since I'm not even past the crash scene yet.

You guys are awesome for replying. I'm glad I am not the only one suffering with this issue. Otherwise everything else in the game runs beautiful. I wish there was a work around. I was considering reinstalling it then moving it into another directory. But I'm not sure if that will do anything either.

Are you by chance running Windows 7 as well? I wonder if it might be a bug specifically related to Only windows 7

I'm also not sure if the bit version make a difference either (32 or 64bit version)

I have the same problem.(running on XP) Usually the last word or two are cut off from the dialogue. Its really annoying. It happens also in ME1. I am also usin a Gigabyte motherboard with onboard soundcard. I heard somewhere that this might be the problem so i ordered CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY sound card.(18,26 €) I hope it will help. I will let u know guys.

I'm having the same problem. Running Windows 7 Home 64 bit on a gigabyte MB using onboard realtek HD audio. Its really frustrating.

I had this problem once while running software in the background. Stopped these and everything worked fine again. So, I would advise to kill any program in the background and try it again.

Yeah right. As I would kill all the programs I need to just play one single game.

I don't think stopping programs running in the background is an unreasonable suggestion. It'll least help determine if your problem is due to a software incompatibility, while running another particular program, which could help Bioware fix the problem. I would suggest closing down all non-system critical processes, and then run the game to see if the issue is gone. If it isn't gone, you know that they're not causing the issue. If it does solve it, then try closing one process at a time, checking each time to see if it fixes it.

Then you'll know what combination is causing the issue, which you can then let Bioware know, so they can hopefully fix it in a patch.

I didn't mean software like a virus scanner or other software that just works in the background but rather stuff like office programs or browser windows that are minimized.

The program that caused the problem here was a ME2 Trainer...

GUYS. I KNOW THE SOLUTION!!!

The problem might be in overlocking your CPUs. The PC is running too fast so the dialogues are not synchronized- game doesnt know it- so the game must cut off the dialogues sometimes. Turn off all overclocking utilities in your PC. I had to go to the BIOS, where i turned off automatic overclocking utility. And now, the dialogues are working PERFECTLY! (you know some Cpu and motherboards have abillity to overclock your system for better performance-not good for MASS EFFECT :)

I'm having this same particular problem. The onlything is I'm running this on a laptop. asus g72gx, 2.53 intel core 2 processor, 6 gigs of ddr2 memory, nvidia geforce 260m GTX. and I'm over clocking the cpu. I'll try to not do that and test it. Only weird thing is I have my desktop with a gigabyte mother board, OC'ed to 2.8, 8 gigs of ram, and a nvidia gts 250 and It's not having a single issue with the game at all.

Ok guys, i've tried what he said and just set my 2.6 intel core 2 duo back to stock and fixed the problem. Apparently when you OC the ram it destabilizes your ram causing a lag in the loading. So just set your processor back to stock settings and try it then. Works perfectly now.

it still cuts off some dialogs (but very rarely) on a Phenom 9950 running at stock speed (2,6GHz) with 1066 DDR downgraded to 800MHz and with Sound Blaster X-Fi Gamer.

I don't have the problem myself but I guess a workaround so you can at least see what they said would be to enable sub titles :/

That fixed it for me. PC was on auto overclock so I disabled that and everything seems to be working fine now. Nice catch.

I'm running windows 7 64bit using PAX X-Fi drivers for my Elite Pro sound card and I don't have those sound cut outs unless I force it.
